  1. The R34 pull type clutch uses a 250mm plate so straight off the bat they are gonna hold more torque than the 240mm plate on the previous models. Unless you are going to be making more than 550hp at the wheels then you can get a really good brand new single plate from NPC for about the $900 mark or less and if you aren't going to go over 400hp at the wheels, an organic plate behind a slightly modified cover will suit you fine and they are $100 cheaper. Is it worth buying the second hand stuff to suit a different model and possibly having issues just to save a couple of hundred? It certainly won't save you any money if there is problems and you have to pay twice to have it fitted or fixed
  2. As a matter of fact, while I've got you here, how much power are you making and how much is this second hand twin plate gonna cost?
  3. They are close but not the same Sorry for not giving you a yes/no answer to your very specific multi level question
  4. Not exactly true. Nissan never had a problem with them. Iridiums may be the cause of problems for a lot of people with modified skylines but that doesn't make them a crap plug. Also to the OP: They should be BCPR6ES unless you are making over about 400-450hp at the wheels
  5. Stay with the -5's GT35R wit a 0.86 Rear is going to be fairly similar in response and it means a whole lot more cost involved in setting it up. Run it on E85 and wind the boost up to about 22-26psi to make 400rwkw which is pretty much spot on to be competitive.
  6. Whats wrong with an RS232 - USB adaptor? That's what we use. Never had a problem
  7. Ya realz As long as you are only going to highway race. Any limiter launches or hard cornering may cause it to suck air and blow your engine
  8. This man knows.
  9. Standard mains in all RB's is 50nm
  10. Step 1: Buy 2L of LSX-90 Step 2: Drive around for 100km or until the oil is at least hot Step 3: Drain oil, wipe drain plug with magnet and fill it up with your favourite blend Diff's are extremely forgiving, if it was a conrod bolt with rust I would be saying pull it apart.
  11. Smaller trim, not smaller turbine The GT35R has a 68mm turbine wheel The GT3788 has a 72.5mm turbine trim size on different turbines is not comparable
  12. Yessir!! How about go to the head guy, watch the camshafts rotate with clearance. If they clear then you have nothing to worry about except video evidence so you can claim your 50c
  13. I think he is referring to it as a comparative
  14. Are you also aware that you have to replace the springs and lifters as recommended by Tomei?
  15. The base circle for those camshafts is 30mm. I will put 50c on them not turning without machining the cylinder head
  16. That is good information disco but none of it really will make any sense to the end user. They simply don't need to know that so it's not really important. I have already spoken to this person about the various options for the power goal he has. For a turbo to spool up the same response as a GT35R with a 0.82 rear and make the same or more power than a T04Z, I don't know why anyone would ever consider a GT35R ever again. They are also the same price We have done nearly a dozen of these GT3788's now on all different setups inc 1JZ, RB26, 26/30, 25/30, RB25 and XR6 4.0L and they just hammer everything else out of the water. They are a bit of a fall over in power in the top end when pushed but if you use the 0.99 housing they will go further, especially on a 3.0L bottom end like this guy has
  17. I was driving down the road the other day and saw a bag in the middle of the lane. It was green in colour
  18. Ring Heat Treatment Australia. Their exact words were: 'improves the strength of the metal by 300-400%'. This certainly does not mean you are wrong, just relaying what they said as I am definitely no expert They do the same thing to ambulance rotors and get more than double the life out of them. Not sure about the formation of martensitic grain structure but I know for a fact the gearboxes we have done are definitely stronger, which is the point.
  19. Yes. It's.............the Muffin Man
  20. standard are grey or purple
  21. standard
  22. I have had the luxury of back to back testing R32 GTR making 600hp at the wheels Blew 3rd gear rebuilt without cryo Blew 3rd gear rebuilt with cryo still going 12 months later, same abuse
  23. I'm not a metallurgist, but according to the experts at the company that perform the treatment, it strengthens the metal by 300-400%. The only reason why a metal like this is potentially weak is because of the grain. Improving that grain structure of the metal at a base level certainly does make it stronger. Standard gear RB20 gearbox - 640hp at the wheels Standard gear RB20 gearbox - 380hp at the wheels in a drift car thrashed every week for 4 years and still going R33 GTST, GTR gearboxes all making over 500hp at the wheels, 9k rpm launches on semi slicks, flat shifting, clutch dumping/kicking and general abuse Have never broken a single one....ever
  24. Not to mention he has name down to the fastest and quickest 1JZ in the country, the second most powerful standard 1JZ in the world and his own standard RB26 unopened made 600hp at the wheels The guy knows his stuff
