  1. i agree. it was just abit of advice, sorry if you took offence. never meant to incinuate that you were stupid, i mean, i dont know jack about C+ or whatever programmers work with, doesnt mean i'm stupid!
  2. no offence to the thread starter but if you dont know what an oil gallery is, then i'd suggest you get someone else to undergo the twin cam conversion...
  3. Hi Just wondering if anyone can tell me how the non turbo rb25 box compares to the turbo box? is the non turbo box the same as the rb20 boxes? or stronger? what sort of HP can they handle? Karlos
  4. well i found some info http://www.toysport.com/catalog/parts%20by...engine/4AGE.htm these guy say the OEM pistons for the 4AGE are 81.5mm (although they have hks pistons that are 81.00mm) http://www.club4ag.com/faq%20and%20tech_pa...cifications.htm http://www.club4ag.com/faq%20and%20tech_pa...A-GZE_specs.htm piston pins can be either 18mm (80's 4age) or 20mm (90's 4age and 4agze) cant find any info on the pin size for the rb26det though, anyone know?
  5. machining will only cost a minimum as i have most of the machining equipment at work and can do it myself, the boring is the only thing i need to outsource and i can get the company we use to do it at cost price. the motor will only make max 300kw at the fly so i wont go over the top with cc'ing, balancing and blueprinting etc. whats this about toyota pistons? are they the right size to suit the stroker? are the gudgeon pins the same diameter? or did i read into that too much and you just mean your rebuilding a toyota motor? if i can get the dimensions necisary i'll email a few piston places and see if they can find a suitable piston. however is it either 80.5mm or 82.5mm? and what about piston height?
  6. anyone had any experiance with stroking the rb20det to 2.4 with the 26 crank/rods? i'd like to know how it behaves compared to the rb25det, what its torque curve's are like, and can you retain the factory ecu? things like that. anyone done this conversion as i see it as a very cheap and profitable upgrade, the only costly thing being (as long as you can run it on the factory ecu or power fc) would be the pistons. rb26 crank/rods = $300-400 machining = no more than $200 pistons = ??? pistons i cant see costing more than $2000, so compare this to upgrading to a rb25 ($3000) or 26 ($6000) and it seems pretty enticing, considering you'd rebuild it for little extra cost (price of bearings, gaskets and seals) and rather than have a used motor that you dont know much of its previous life, youd have a fresh 2.4 with plenty of strength for some big boost. any opinions or personal experiances? Karlos
  7. try places like used tyre mart etc. i found a set of 16x8" impul RS rims for my r31 for $450 with 225x50 tyres! the tyres had easy 80% tread left and the only downside is they didnt have the centre caps for them.
  8. yea i got the mufflers and piping for a 3inch zorst so i'll make that up this w/end. also got a big cooler to stick in at the same time. see what i can get with 13psi.... but more power just means i'm gunna have to replace my box and diff sooner, thier both well on the way out.
  9. well this has been happening for awhile and its the first rb20det i've driven so i dunno whether its lost power or not, does feel rather sluggish but got it dynoed and pulled 110rwkws so its naturally gunna feel sluggish with that piss poor effort. Karlos
  10. i've got a tick coming from my motor that i can roughly trace to the 5th injector . what causes them to tick like this? or is it possibly a fautly coil pack? anyone had a similar problem? Karlos
  11. i rang a few diff and box workshops last week and the cheapest i found was $900 for a rebuild, lsd conversion and 4.11 ratio. that was for a brand new lsd centre ($700 alone) and me delivering the diff to them. thats for an r31 open wheeler which is the same diff as yours just 3.9 ratio. so basically its a pretty expensive ordeal unless you have the knowledge to rebuild and setup a diff yourself. but even then your only really saving 200-300 bucks. Karlos
  12. same thing happens to my motor. idle when warm it drops to almost 0.6 or less (seems too low for me), anything over 2000rpm its up to 2.5-3 then after that bumps over 3 and stays there. i'm gunna hook up a proper oil pressure gauge this week and get some precise readings. my cam gear is also pretty noisey, at idle you can hear it quitely grinding away... scary! what grade oil are you guys using? Karlos
  13. its the old type, it's the clear plastic cover type (ie you can see the circuit board and componentry) and has blitz written in silver on the top. Karlos
  14. RB20det AFM green sticker model $140 Blitz turbo timer (clear case model) $80 in adelaide. [email protected]
  15. whats a pair of rotor and calipers for an r32 gts-t worth these days? Karlos
  16. cant put the original back on, cooler piping is in the way and the hole for the AFM is only 68mm (good old rb30e). but i'll be putting a front mount on so should manouver the piping out of the way abit. i'll still need to make a custom one though.
  17. any tips on quietening down my car's intake? i'm always worried about a cop hearing it and pulling me over. have anyone tried making up thier own cold air box? and how well did it work? i want the best of both worlds (flow and noise level). anything else that would quieten my intake noise down? like replacing the flexible intake hose etc? before you go saying pods are legal and all that, my car is not legal... yet. its an r31 with r32 rb20det. any tips? thanks Karlos
  18. my car's oil pressure drops to approximately 75-100 kPa at idle (once at full operating temperature). anything above idle its almost 400 kPa so was just wondering whether this is the norm with the RB20s? i'm using helix ultra 5-40w oil, and find the rocker gear is audible at idle when the cars hot also. Thanks Karlos
  19. if theres no affect on the motor through a BOV why then do most factory turbo cars have BOV's stock? AFAIK thier there to improve response by decreasing the chance of backpressure slowing the compressor when the throttle is slammed shut. or boost spikes?
  20. just pressure tested the intercooler i made and theres about 8 leaks around the cores, mostly the top 4 cores. thier fairly big leaks as i only tested at 20kpa and could instantly feel the air pissing out. sprayed it with soapy water and the thing leaks like a siv! although i cant actually see the holes with naked eye. anyone know what glues are available and how successful they are? hoping i dont have to chop off the tanks and go buy another core... Karlos
  21. thanks man i'll try emailing him and mabye ring tomorrow once i figure out the time difference...
  22. Yep, I'm still chasing some r31 coupe front struts, hubs, bearings, etc for my car... i know thier hard to find but this is insane! if anyone has a middle man in japan or can source me some ANYWHERE please pm or email me.. all the importers i've tried havnt got any, hikari dont wanna know about it, i'm running outta options! Karlos
  23. hmm... ok i've got a basic understanding, still alittle confusing though but atleast i know now why a/r ratios affect your turbo selection thanks guys Karlos
  24. just wondering what the A/R is and how they calculate it? anyone? Karlos
  25. i mean second hand for both... think about it.
