  1. i havent had much abuse. mostly get people yelling "PPPSSSHHHT" and whistling "DUUDUUDOO" and "Do a Burnout!" so funny hopping into the laser, feels like ur in disguise, no stares, no people revving up next to u. muhaha
  2. thanks for the sydney kid and others. i asked my insurance company if my 3 month licence cancelation through points affected my insurance, and they replied, - no, it decides wether or not we insure you, it doesnt alter cost. i say definetly go for 3 months if u can do it. dont drive, unless of course u dont care.. and then you are back on full points. Sounds like all those who went for the 12 months good behavior havent been able to snap out of it B)
  3. yeah im still running standard size rims. The tyres were Hankook ventus. 225/50's. The guy said they had the silica technology happening.. I think i got them cheaper than retail cause i ordered them through work. Tyre pressure, hm i guess around the 35psi mark.
  4. I recently got a new pair of tyres at 150 dollars a piece, which are meant to be pretty good quality for the money, and i havent looked back. i drive a turbo 33, and the sensational grip just gives u the sheer joy of driving. I struggled on some bald tyres for a few weeks, and new tyres give u confidence, handling, and obviously safety. i highly recommend it for those of you with not so good tyres B) Now i can barrel thru those tight corners, get reasonable traction from the lights, and flooring it in second thru a turn will provide traction loss obviously, but extremely predictable, and easy to control out of the turn. hehe, as u can guess ive had a great night out. Man once u get a skyline u cant look back ey. its just the best Go the mighty liner!!!! siigning out.. Soon2b33
  5. i recently developed the missfire at exactly 4500 rpm so i new exactly where to look i used a heat resistant insulator sealant, and then went sick with the tape. Car goes like a rocket! im so impressed i think its been getting worse but i just havent noticed til performance plummeted last night. Thanks to the guy who came up with this, you're a legend! Is this solution meant to last, or is it only extremely temporary?
  6. The most important bit is the launch. U want minimal wheel spin so u know ur getting maximum traction, control the clutch firmly so u dont bog at all, but so u still get power to the ground. I raced another r33 tonite, i was lucky with a neat launch and got the jump on him, he couldnt close the gap. then just concentrate on your shifts, smooth and quick. u dont need to necessarily redline it either. 1st to second is the main shift. so practise practise practise...
  7. ok kind of good news. i called him today, and said id sold my old celica that i'd been getting around in so far, and im in need of a vehicle. so i managed to get him to say it would be ready friday. so at least there's kind of a deadline now. i didnt offer to pay him early or anything, so i'm optimistically expecting to be boosting by the weekend..
  8. Hi, thanks a lot for the responses. I'll definetly go an have a word with them on monday and see if i can arrange a kind of deadline. i feel a bit helpless though when theyve got the car <_< and yes, im definetly looking forward to it, but i dont know if its 'worth the wait' hehe.. cheers.
  9. i dropped off my car 2 weeks ago at the panel shop, at a date we had booked in. i was told it would take 2 weeks to complete the repairs on the vehicle. So i drop by today, and the car has barely been touched! i was pretty dissapointed as the shop had been recommended to me by a reliable source. i dont want to hassle them as i wouldnt want them to "rush it" so to speak. if i gave them pre payment or something would they put my car on the 'top of the list'? I miss the 'line.. and dont want it sitting there for another 2 weeks
  10. a fair workshop will charge u 280 for a timing belt replacement including coolant etc anymore more than say 330 is a rip off. it probably needs a good service along with spark plugs , fuel filter, etc thats what could be causing the hesitation in second gear. Fit a cold air intake using one of your old intercooler pipes thru the spare hole below your pod filter and get a shield for the pod filter u will really notice the difference. also with the repco "monza" heat shield my pod now emits a "wtt-oosh" i guess the air bouncing off the shield
  11. the r33 handles just fine. sure its a bit heavier, but mine has practicaly no body roll, the hicas is great when u need to over correct, and to push it to its limits u have to go insanely fast. Also great on the freeway, low level interior noise, and those sweeping curves are awesome!
  12. so the rear wheels turn the same way as the fronts at high speed? when i take high speed corners it feels like the rear wheels turn slightly to the left while im cornering right, making the swing out slightly
  13. well the 1 rex i ever raced i beat 3 times. He didnt want to risk his gearbox with hard launches, where as i had brand new tyres and could launch reasonably well with minimal wheel spin. I'd like to race one with the driver giving it some stick from the word go.
  14. pff "cruising" the whole time in a skyline. - what a waste. The car is built for handling and speed. if u want a nice looking car that u wont take to the track anyway, get a integra vtec its like a turbo
  15. im the other way round, in my 3rd year and im looking forward to qualifying so i can try something different, hopefully something in the same industry tho, but less dirty, as i think its pretty hard to get into uni without vce
  16. two times today, i got cut off by a clown in a citroen. These are always older drivers, and they think just because they own a french built car, they automaticaly have the right to be typically arrogant to other road users, and today wasnt the first time either. Im amazed those citroens and older peugots are still driving around in one piece, the're shocking design quality shouldnt have enabled them to release these vehicles out of the factory, they have nothing to lose by hitting other cars. Sorry about the rant, guys please take care when passing a citroen, they are usually in the right hand lane, going minimum 10k's under the limit.
  17. on the r33 series one they are on the headlight stalk, u twist the middle part forwards if its got it.
  18. the guy probably didnt have a licence, or ran out of rego or something
  19. so u just want some song where u can show off ur fully sick subs, or a tune a actually enjoy listening too when ur on your own?
  20. would a dyno tune help? its an intermittant problem. was bleeding obvious last night when an identical skyline pulled away. hope to get a safc or powerfc quite a bit further down the track.
  21. i have this exact problem, thought i had another boost leak. at around 5000rpm onwards Sometimes it just eases off for no reason. very annoying when racing people as u watch them pull away (on the track) i had brand new platinum plugs put in 3 months ago
  22. Guys i seem to have miraculously fixed this problem. By the push in the back im guessing ive just gained an extra 30-40kw! It was a leak on one of the smaller hoses going to the inlet manifold causing the disturbing whistle at high rpm, and also must have been sapping the power. i will still get it dynoed, but the car is running smoooth as, and fast! I'll keep youse up to date.
  23. im definetily going to check out my exhaust incase its got a collapsed cat or muffler. im running platinum plugs. replaced 5 thousand ks ago, also recently changed fuel filter. will give an update early next week when i get it checked out.
  24. wow great result there. does the full exhaust include dump pipe?
