  1. Been following this thread on and off for years. And reading the chassis developments makes me feel alot. Sympathy that its happenex to a car youve put alot of time and effort into. Aswell as dread a Nd panic for my on gtr. Makes me want to run outside and check every inch of mine
  2. So recently my GTR hasnt really been driven all that much or really been looked at. Yesterday i got under it doing another job and noticed that nearly all the front suspension bushes are looking worse for wear or they are completely torn up. At the moment I'm thinking of going for a new suspension set up ( mainly the arms at this stage) as I want to use the car for light track use and i dont want to replace all the bushes then go for a different arms set up that renders them all useless. the part I'm stuck with is Ive done this with previous RWD cars ( Xr8 falcon) and really noticed the difference, but is it worth doing 100 % aftermarket on a GTR ? or only partly . or even at all ??? If so what items?
  3. WTB R33 GTR front bar and lower lip. any style considered. preferably in silver ( Klo)
  4. Just a Pondering. Can someone give me a straight up pros and cons of a plugin vs flying lead setup... Im chopping and changing between the two ATM.
  5. So, As I expected I've had the GTR for about 2 years now and while its in good condition some parts are starting to wear and tear. I recently removed the lower lip of the front bumper and there were a few bolts and fastenings that have rusted into the Clips or have simply had it. Finding intercoolers, turbos and panels etc etc is easy BUT! Does anyone know where to find little parts like fasteners etc? Now I live in regional NT so what Im looking for ideally is a one stop shop. I've found random bits and pieces from various sources. Does anyone know of a source or how to get part numbers for these items?? any help is much appreciated
  6. Hey mate. Dont suppose you have a Starter motor or centre console lid. and coil pack frame bolts
  7. Former panel beater.. Everything is repairable. warped chassis. Cars folded in two. All repairable. But without HUGE sentimental value its not worth it. very little of the original car will be left. you will need another GTR Chassis for sure and someone who is willing to take it on... with some seriously fine hands. the biggest challenge for this is getting it right. 50% of cutting and welding huge sections is alignment. and setting it right. Unless this is Michael Schumachers GTR that your dead father won Le Mans in........ take the hit ( always hard) and by a 33 GTR with repairable damage on the front end or blown motor or a roller... take the silver lining and learn how to drop in a motor and use it as a learning tool.
  8. tempted to say drive both and go with your head not heart.. I love the 35 but..... the idea of a 34 with the price difference between the 2 spent on it ( cosmetics and mechanically) just stirs my loins
  9. one thing to remember the 34 came at a time when Nissan as a whole (not necessarily the GTR program) was on a down turn. the R35 is a resurgence . Could always be a man and buy the ugly duckling (others opinion not mine) the 33 gtr
  10. I've been enjoying this thread alot I ultimately had the same sort of debate when I bought my 33, admittedly that was between a 32 and a 33 so alot closer. just another thing to consider perhaps..... build numbers??? I recently went to Sydney (from country NT) and in 4 days I seen no fewer than 11 35 GTR's Is exclusivity a factor?
  11. Best is a matter of opinion i guess... Poor bloke
  12. Don't suppose anyone has photos or knows what happened ???
  13. As one of the Best GTRS the country has seen or thee best Can anyone confirm or Deny that GTR 99V is dead??? If so im shocked, the amounts of photos I have of this car
  14. Colin mcrae on left foot braking obviously not your average daily driver though ... very talented man
  15. I do kind of look at it though and think the cost of a daily is nearly new turbos :-( . I don't drive much on a daily basis . Work 4 days on four days of and its a straight run at 130 kph
  16. I wouldn't say it NEEDS a rebuild but it is looming
  17. I used to work overseas on drill rigs.. earning alot of coin.... im happy now... money isnt everything
  18. So, I've had my (stockish) GTR for about 18 months now and obviously love it. I've had a few hiccups but nothing too major given that during this time it has been a daily driver. Since buying it I've had a major job change and now live and work in Katherine NT (remember this) At the moment I have a gearbox niggle in the form of a worn input shaft bearing and this is the birth on my dilemma. Im considering taking the GTR off the road and starting to do some semi major jobs. top of the list being Gearbox Rebuild Oil pump turbos ECU The dilemma I'm having is due to the major job change ... I'm skint The way I see it is my options are. 1. Buy a shit box, The R ceases to be my daily Pros: more major maintenance can be done by me at my own pace extend the life of the car by not racking up the kms Cons not a daily and potentially could sit and gather dust if the job becomes "too much" If i do get in to deep theres not enough "rescue services" in town and than means expensive trips to darwin Fears it just sits there. as money and time dry up and it becomes a dust collector 2. continue to have the R as a daily Pros: Driven not hidden (huge for me) Cons. cost of running and maintaning is higher due to more kms upgardes and work needs to be done professionally as the car needs to be on the road fears .... the looming engine rebuild I'm just after some input from members.... Serious input and thoughts only.
  19. OP got the required info from a serious response and left you clowns to it
  20. Im enjoying this thread alot. I still think r34 though and i have a new reason why.... 35 is at the start of the development cycle...... like the 32.... and look at all the improvements the 33 made on the 32....
  21. clutch in and whine = thrust bearing clutch out and whine = input shaft bearing either of these is intermittent and only at cold... low oil straight cuts.... you would know its very apparent and alot will have dogs not synchos which changes the gearbox feel.... in short if u had straight cuts and you had never had a car with them you would think your car was broken
