  1. Denied! Nobody loves me :-( In that case could whoever was kind enough to enter my old ET into your timeslip database either update it or delete it?
  2. Thanks dude! I still have a long way to go; my short times aren't good. I finally managed to crack a 1.9x 60' time this time out. But you'd expect that with DRs and a lot better, too. Got to work on the launch a lot more. The DRs are still ripping through in 1st, 2nd and 3rd so when I put the slicks on we should see another big bite taken out of the ET. Also interested to note that the trap speeds actually went up when I moved from street radials to DRs!
  3. WSID 14th July 2004 11.347 @ 133.76 MPH with 2.020 60' Timeslip pic sent!
  4. Not all cars come with the same tyre sizes front and back stock from the factory though. In fact neither of my cars do.
  5. Then why do bracket racers constantly back off and/or tap the brakes before the traps? DYO is never about pushing your car as hard as you can for those who want to win. Watch the difference between a race and when they decide to drive it out the back door. It can be five tenths different! How is that pushing your car?
  6. I'll be there with the M Coupe.
  7. Does anyone know the altitude above sea level for WSID or where i can find this information?
  8. Jason, Good work so far. Open your eyes and read what's being said. Brett and Adrian have hit the nail on the head. If you want Sport Compact to be about late model performance cars that spectators can recognise as a lot like the cars they see on the street, then making the new class rotary biased (via low low weight breaks and narrow slick size limits) isn't going to get there. 26"x10" is a much better size for slicks. 1970s rotaries may slot nicely in to the 2600 lb range with cage and driver, but not many late model cars do. How about setting up a new class for 6 cylinder late model cars with IRS? I love rotaries and I like seeing some action in sport compact. Wouldn't it be a shame if the Skyline, Supra, VL turbo and other 6 cylinder late model cars weren't a part of this new movement?
  9. Yeah the streeters are OK for the drag radials but I need front runners so I can run the slicks I already have. I don't want to be booted for running radial fronts with slicks in the rear. Went to the wheel guy today and there's no way to fit 15" wheels over my big brakes. I'll have to go 16" wheels so I can't run MT ET Fronts which is a disappointment. Trying to find a 16" crossply tyre that will fit on a 4" wide (or thereabouts) rim AND is about 26" tall. There's bugger all .. it's been suggested to go for a motorbike tyre .. Any ideas?
  10. Adrian, the BFGs have been picked up by the couriers in Melbourne so they are now expected at my workshop Monday 21/6 ready to be mounted. I'll bring the truck with compressor out next time so I can add some tyre pressure in the pits. Thanks for the tip about starting point for tyre pressure; I'll take your advice and start at 18 psi working down. Mickey Thompson also make ET Street Radials in 26 X 11.50R15 (26.1" tall, tread width 10") and ET Street 26 X10.50-15LT (26.1" tall, tread width 8.3") so there are other options. The challenge now is to get some 4" x 15" front runners made up that will clear my 13.5" rotors and calipers on the front so I can run 26.0 X 4.5-15 (25.9" tall) ET Fronts. What pressure should I run in the front runners?
  11. Adrian, yeah thanks mate. Before the current batch of mods I took the M Coupe to a weighbridge and got 3,219 lbs with a full tank or fuel and a full (5 litre) washer reservoir, but without me. I've pulled a shitload of stuff out of it and hope to have it down to 2900 lbs with no water in the washer, no passenger seat and 1/8th tank of fuel (ie race prepped). I'll get it over the weighbridge soon to confirm. The DRs are 50 series on a 15" diameter so they should have a lot more sidewall than my street tyres (285/35 R18). I'll take your advice and start at around 18 psi and work down (or up?). It's all learning for me, so here's hoping the DRs turn up on time!
  12. Hee hee, you're right about luck Adrian! I've got Comp TAs on the way so hopefully they'll be on the car next Wednesday. I've never launched with DRs so I've got a bit of learning to do there. With my street tyres anything over 2,200RPM on launch was a smokefest. I'd love to be able to launch higher ... What sort of pressure should I try for starters on DRs with a 2900 lb car? And what sort of burnout if any makes sense for DRs?
  13. Yeah, I am aware that you usually drop the trap speed to gain ETs when changing from street tyres to DRs or slicks. I am perfectly willing to trade down from 132 mph to get into the 11s. I'm also wondering if the traps will drop given that I'm wheelspinning in all five gears on the street tyres. I'm probably more likely to hit the rev limiter in top gear (136.8 mph with 275/50 R15 DRs), unless the DRs grow a tad like slicks?
  14. Thanks for your help dude! When I look at the BFG sites it is a bit confusing. The Comp TA Drag Radials seem to be giving way to gForce TA Drag Radial. Anyway after much phoning I have some 275/50 R15 at 25.9" tall Comp TA drag radials on the way over the Tasman due to arrive Monday 21/6 in Melbourne. From there to Sydney by Tuesday 22/6 ready for the next WSID street meet, God willing and the creeks don't rise.
  15. Hehe, no arrogance intended, just my warped sense of humour!
  16. Hope someone can help me out with contact details for suppliers of BF Goodrich drag radials and Nitto drag radials in Sydney? Ideally I want a drag radial to fit a 15"x10" wheel as close as possible to 26" tall. If I can't get somethign decent there I'll have to use my 18"x10" wheels instead. Appreciate any help.
