  1. No its 30mm across flats. Im not sure of the diameter of the shaft, but id assume its greater than 20mm. GeeTR, i havent got that diagram in my manual at all. Shaun.
  2. Ive discovered that the spring pressures arent really what Tial say they are. I mean, i had a 15psi spring and was making 19psi, then i changed to a 7 pound spring and was making 11 psi. You'll also notice that the spring rates differ between the GCG Turbos website and Tial USA website for the same spring. For example a large yellow on GCG might be 7psi, but on the us site it'll say its 10psi. Weird.
  3. Im with you mate. Over 500Nm just sounds too much. I dont think my 350Kw engine even makes 500Nm of torque. Imagine if you snapped or stripped the bolt inside the crank! What a fcuking nightmare! As for undoing it, ive heard that you can use a 300mm breaker bar and rest the handle on the radiator support, then crank the car (with injectors disconnected or something like that), so that the engine turns but the bolt doesnt. Do you think thats dodgy? Anyone else with opinions or experience? Shaun.
  4. Yeah. Id also like to know the best method of stopping the engine from turning. Is putting it in gear the best? It seems to be the only way, unless youve got access to the flywheel.
  5. Yeah, thats the same diagram as mine. You'll notice that in subsequent pages it recommends the 142-152Nm. It would be good to clear this up, as im a bit nervous about putting that much torque on the bolt. Ive heard that you've gotta put the car in 5th and have someone with their foot hard on the brake, then use a stupid long handle to get the 500Nm. Apparently it sounds like the gearbox is going to let go under the load! We need some engine builders to shed some light. Shaun.
  6. Hi, Im just about to install an ATI harmonic balancer on my RB26, and i was flicking through my engine (workshop) manual and discovered that there were two vastly different torque recommendations for the 30mm crank bolt. There is an exploded view diagram of the RB26, and it has 446 - 544Nm (45.5 - 55.5Kg-m) with an arrow pointing to the crank bolt. However, when you read through the step by step instructions, it says "Tightening torque: 142 - 152Nm (14.5 - 15.5Kg-m)" in relation to the crank bolt. My manual also has the instructions for the RB20 and RB25, and the recommended tightening torques are all 142 - 152Nm. I cant see why the torque for the Rb26 should be any different, let alone almost 3.5 times that of the other engines. Its a massive amount of torque; that means you've gotta apply about 27Kg of load on the end of a torque wrench with a two meter handle! Im wondering if its a typo in the manual, and the correct torque is the lesser of the two. If anyone could shed some light on this it would be appreciated; especially those who have had experience in installing these balancers on RB engines. Its a pretty important topic i reckon, as its an engine destroying problem if anything fails down there. I wish i could supply some pics, but if anyone else has a manual could you verify this for all of us. I got my manual off a forum member who sold me a disk; i cant see why i wouldnt have originated from a Nissan maunual. Thanks, Shaun.
  7. Has anyone noticed that the bottom mounts on the radiators are too close together and dont sit in the female mount correctly? This is for an R32 gtst. Im just wondering if i should take mine back to Unique Autosports, as i picked it up from there. Shaun.
  8. Dibs on the greddy water temp gauge! Actually, i might be interested in the exhaust temp and fuel pressure too. Also, do you have any pics of the air con vent gauge holder thingy? PM sent, Shaun.
  9. Mines a bit too low, but im saving up for the coil over conversion so that i can get specific spring rates and total height adjustability! Come on tax return!
  10. Hey,im pretty interested in the 60mm shadow water temp gauge. Good price. Ill let you know, Shaun.
  11. Hey, Ive just put an rb26 in my r32 gtst, and in the process i removed everything to do with the hicas and installed a lock bar. Im now having problems with the speed sensitive power steering. At first i didnt have any PS, but now ive had the PS hooked up to my Autronic (via a speed sensor in the dash) so that at 65km/hr the PS gets harder just like it does in the standard set up. The problem is though, that it cuts in really violently at that speed and is quite dangerous especially mid corner. Anyway, i was wondering if i could get rid of the PS set up and install a manual steering rack. Apparently you get much better feel and control with a manual rack. So does anyone know of a manual rack that will fit in my r32 gtst? Ive heard of a VL manual rack going in, but not sure if it requires modification. Thanks for any onfo, Shaun.
  12. Fcuk man, surely everyone is getting sick of the twins V's single debate. Anywhoo, im really interested in the oil pump you have. Any chance of PMing me with some contact details and a price? Thanks mate, Shaun PS; Single all the way.
  13. Hey Stuart, Did you have to modify the VL manual steering rack to fit in the r32? Im pretty interested in this. I also sent you a PM; hope you dont mind. Shaun.
  14. Hey John, How'd you go with the shipping quote? Shaun. 0414972596
  15. Yeah, ive got the same problem with a shit gauge. Can you purchase new senders from nissan? Will this fix the problem? Shaun.
  16. Its a 30mm socket. I'd use a half inch drive too! Shaun.
  17. Hey Johno, Any ideas of an eta? Do you think days or weeks? Im just trying to organise a date for my car to be tuned. Thanks mate, Shaun.
  18. Same thing happened to me mate, and i did the same thing as you; kept driving. My turbos were fcuked, head required extensive machining, had to get a new block and crank, etc, etc. Unfortunately for you, figure out how much it'll cost then double it. Shaun.
  19. Im running 9.0:1 compression in my rb26. Ive got CP pistons (20 thou over) with an 1mm headgasket. Its great on the street, even with my gt35r and 1.06 turbine housing. Im making about 360kw at 17 psi. Shaun.
  20. ^^^^^ I dunno about that!?
  21. Hi, Just wondering how much adjustment is in the factory rear camber set up in an R32 gtst. Would i get 1 degree out of it you reckon? Thanks, Shaun.
  22. I had the same problem mate. My drivers side was 10mm lower than the PS, so i just compensated by raising and lowering the circlips on the shocks. It now sits even. I was told that cars of this age flex, sag, twist etc so its not that uncommon. Its unusual, however, that your rears are the same height and its only the front thats sagging. I actually had to work diagonally by raising the DS rear 1 groove and lowering the PS front 1 groove to get my desired height. Shaun.
  23. Thanks mate. asap would be appreciated. Shaun.
  24. Dont forget about going through all the legalities with the extra capacity of an RB25. Im not sure if your in NSW, but the capacity increase falls outside the owner certified modification thing in NSW. R32's only came out with RB25DE's, so you'll have to get an engineers certificate. This means that everything will have to look standard including the intake, charcoal cannister, breather hoses going back into inlet, quiet exhaust etc, etc. This is a massive con! I did, however, get my R32 with a single turbo RB26 re registered and engineered (no thanks to the RTA), so it is possible. Its a massive fcuking effort though. Shaun.
