  1. Seems to be the magic word... though I gather half the buttons don't work after the conversion? Why can't the faces just be replaced (not talking about stickers here)
  2. how did you get those buttons? now we just need the english software to match...
  3. The Sumimotos seem pretty good... did you buy them from a Chain or a small shop? If a chain, that'll give me a good starting point here in Melbourne.
  4. Rianto, are the Kenda's any good? Do you know where I could get some in Melbourne? The best quote I've gotten is $300/$320 for Hankooks for 225s/245s. I probably should have done a search on this first - I see people have used Nankangs etc, and that the 245/40s are a fair bit cheaper?
  5. It seems the V35s with their fancy shmancy 225/45 R18 fronts and 245/45 R18s in the rear like expensive tyres... been quoted upwards of $300 a pop. I was wondering what brands you guys were using? Particularly interested in the 18 inchers... Or should I just get a 19" wheel + tyre package for the same money and sell the stockies? -Max
  6. Spotted an awesome blue v35 at the Kamikaze motors compliance workshop on Friday... oh wait, that's mine
  7. Hey we hit 50+ responses. I wonder what % of 350GT owners in Oz read the forum?
  8. That yellow one sounds interesting... I remember seeing photos of a yellow pearl one with a full Kenstyle bodykit - looked awesome.
  9. So four of us in all of Melbourne??? Will try and make it down to the meet as well...
  10. I'll try make it down if I have my car by then (will be seriously pissed if I don't!).
  11. I don't think it will be that bad. Sure, they won't match up to Clarkson, Captain Slow & Hamster but that would be a huge ask for anyone. I like that they have chosen some proper enthusiasts and drivers, rather than some shit TV personality like Glen Ridge or Jamie Durie. As long as they review a good mix of mainstream and exotic cars with a sense of humour, I for one will be happy for a second (but different) dose of Top Gear every week!
  12. Now that I'm likely to finally get my car in the next week or so - who is interested in arranging a Melbourne V35 meet in the next few weeks? Most of the people here are from WA or NSW. I only know of one other person in Melbourne, being Rianto... Put yourself down if interested!
  13. I've seen maybe one WRX around... the rest have been the cooking models (a couple of RS) Subaru really dropped the ball with this one - makes the bug eye look beautiful by comparison.
  14. Hey Pete, Sounds like an awesome car! How did you go getting the APS TT system installed in Oz? I thought they care about Australian V35s. Max
  15. The poll is starting to look more like I expected. No red cars anywhere?
  16. Also agree with L/100km nonclemature... it is the default used in AUS and is the most understoood. Having said that I don't think it makes a huge deal.
  17. If anyone is interested, I've attached my top speed calculation spreadsheet. Defaults numbers belong to a 2003 6MT 350GT. Spent WAAAAY too much time on it. Feel free to play around with it as you wish. It should work for any vehicle (with a maximum engine RPM of 8600) Speed_Calcs.zip
  18. I've spent far too much time this afternoon trying to develop a spreadsheet to do the top speed calcs. The calcs are based on a 6MT on 18s and the spoiler (Cd=0.28). I can't find any firm data on the frontal area of the vehicle, so I have assumed Ap=2.5m^2. The theoretical maximum speed is ~308km/h based on the peak power figure alone. Obviously this will be limited by gearing and air resistance. The maximum real speed I calculate is 281.02km/h... this corresponds to 6150rpm in 6th gear. Air density is assumed as 1.204 @ 20degC. FYI, if the frontal area is actually 2.8m^2, maximum speed reduces to 269.65km/h. Lower temperatures (higher air density) will also affect these figures.
  19. Gotcha... Engine Speed to Speed of Car: v = 2πrω/Ggk where: v=velocity (m/s) r= radius of tire (m) ω= engine speed in rotations/sec G= final drive ratio gk = k-th gear ratio Assuming 6MT with 18" wheels & stock tyres, theoretical top speed = 300.1264km/h!
  20. Interesting, scathing. How do you do the theoretical speed calcs?
  21. That just means your speedo is 8km/h off! I had a quick search on the net, some G35 drivers reckon they have seen 160mph (256km/h) in a 6MT
  22. Japanese cars are electronically limited to 180km/h - this is why they all have 180km/h speedos. You can get speed cut defenders which will remove the limit. Anyone know how fast it would go without the limiter? My guess is 240-250ish (it does have a low Cd)
  23. I certainly expected more whites as well, and more blacks...
  24. Is anyone surprised by the results? The next might be a poll about states.
  25. I'm 25 today (happy birthday to me) but that's not the point of my post... My good friend, who is a fantastic patisserie chef, made me a cake - thought all you might enjoy it See the attachment.
