  1. Hmmmm, too rare to bother to go looking for one?
  2. I think all the trouble is in the many inner/outer tire-rod ends, drag link, pitman arm, etc, etc rather than the steering box itself? Providing the actual box isn't worn of course.Maybe there is some inherent fault in the *30's? Geez, even my old worn out KE20 coupe doesn't tram line and carry on like my HR30 used to!
  3. No, and yes Disco: Sounds like a plan, but wouldn't the squat height vary depending on how much grip you had at any particular time? Amen brother! :uh-huh: Speaking of such,I've just had poly ethelene bushes for my rear HICAS rams machined up.You should've seen th eold rubber bushes that came out of them! (or lack thereof)
  4. Disco, it's been that long I can't bloody remember exactly what was done! I do remember it was a one piece bush though,so unless it was slotted or something,I'd say the housing was machined parralell? Don't quote me on that though. The bush material was some sort of poly urethane...what ever grade the guy thought was suitable. I thought you were giving up on the FJ,and going with an RB30 hybrid anyway?
  5. Just be carefull that after driving an HR31, the HR30 doesn't become spartan and ordinary to you
  6. Homer,do you even know what rack and pinion steering is? Don't hold your breath on a '31 crossmember fitting in a '30. Ahhhh,so glad all my steering box woes are behind me. Go the HR31! :uh-huh:
  7. Disco,I found my old HR30 to be very irratating in the steering area.Part of the reason I didn't put my FJ20 into it.Going even futher back,I had a 180B, (same set up) and I got a whole single piece bush machined up from some type of poly-eurathane (sp) Worked wonders, but the steering box sucks teh ass!
  8. D'OH! I pulled mine apart, only to find the cupboard was bare Mine doesn't have ABS either,so..........
  9. Maybe you should've used S14 hubs and kept the 5 stud pattern!
  10. Hi Adam. An R31 rack will bolt into the crossmember, but I'm not 100% sure it will fit the splines on the steering shaft (would be very unlikely to be different) As you probably know, the HR31 doesn't use a rear rack,so you would have to lock the rear cradle up,either by fitting solid bushes,or replacing the rams with a solid bar or such like. Oh,and good luck trying to remove a 4WS rack while the engine's still in there!
  11. Don't know about that? There's two LED's in the actual ECU,that blink codes, same as the Aussie R31.If someone doesn't coe up with an answer soon,I'm going to have to pull mine apart and see where the wires go!
  12. Just to be one of the sheep, i also have some rims on the way.16x8.5 rears, but being a 3 piece rim,one I pull them apart, and combine them with my existing 9 inch rears........
  13. Well I'll be................ I'll have to pull some trim out and see if I've got me one of those! I've never seen/heard any reference to these anywhere before. (not that that means much hehe)
  14. Yeah,I hear what the man's saying, but damn......looks at that thing! Mini Tomica racer!! I do agree about function over form though. My last (decent) car was a dead stock looking Pintara, with the motor seen in my avatar. 100% Function
  15. Disco, Must you ruin everything??!!!!
  16. :werd: I could spend a fortune an Yahoo Japan. All of my part/car dreams right there for sale. Now I'm just missing one thing..................the fortune
  17. Seconded! wall rear seat driver side?????????? intriguing!
  18. I'd come along in my HR31,but it's off the road at the moment. (story of my life ) Hoping to make it down for a look at least.
  19. Is that a trick question? Looks fat!
  20. Hey Dude, i saw the '33 on the back of a tilt tray at Medikie's (sp?) smash. Looks like they managed to swipe something with the drivers side front???? only glanced driving past.Bummer hey. And where is this shop of yours that "only works on imports"???
  21. Not sure if DR30 bars are bigger than HR30 ones.....but I used an HR31 swaybar on my old HR30 as a nice upgrade.
  22. Thanks DaiOni. I wasn't expecting that though!!! It was stuck to the firewall in the engine bay of my HR31 Skyline!!! Any ideas why/for what reason????? Could it be a kind of "Defect cleared" notice maybe?
  23. There used to be 2 black HR31 coupes, but one has since been sold and now lives in Taree. The other is currently off the road, undergoing an engine swap. Not sure which one you "got" in your old beast? What was your old beast?
  24. There's also an HR31 coupe in Port :wavey:
