Skylines More addictive than Crack

Dude i know what u mean. Had just saved enough to buy my power FC when suddenly my car starts running on 5 cylinders!!! Sounds mad....like a gutless v8!! But costing me valuable dollars till the stupid nissan technicians figure out whats wrong (i've been away from sydney up mid north coast of NSW for work and it decides to die when theres noone within 600kms who knows a thing aobut skylines!! bloody coffs harbour) Sigh, the power fc idea is set back for a few weeks more i guess -

I feel the pain. I was so proud of myself, being able to save money, till i bought my skyline. Now it only stays in my bank long enough till i can afford a power fc, intercooler, boost controller.....the list is never ending....I'm pretty much stock at the mo (only had the car 2 months) but in my head i'm chasing 2000rwkw (no thats not a typo) If someone has a cure for this ( i cannot in any way forsee this coming to a natural end) please let me know. -
Dude if you wanna put em in i'd say get a pro to do it. Thats mainly cause i'm too friggin lazy to work on my own car at all My main question is why did u buy neons before you bought the car?? Dats like me buying a full intercooler kit for my r33 before i'd bought it yet.

Famous Insurance Customers - Please Read
shif_tea replied to 2rismo's topic in General Automotive Discussion
dude i don't like your chances. I've been hunting for insurance for my 95 gtst for a while now with no bad driving record and having never made a claim or been involved in accident (never been insured before though). No quote i have recieved no matter how i've tried to wrangle it, has been worth the cost of doing it. I hope u find something though, if you do please pm me and tell me who the f*ck it was thru so i can go to them. If you ask me something seems pretty shifty about famous though, too much smallprint (not that any insurance companies don't have that) Don't worry about me, i'm just a born again insurance hater. Stickin with ma satrak and 3rd party property :headshot: :boobs: :headbang: :devil2: :argue: :alcoholic :jester: :type: :sly: -
hmmmm don't really want spikes, stock turbo so if i get bad spikes can it damage it?? (say if i'm running like 10-12 psi and it starts bouncing to 14-15psi or something???) i heard avcr was good?? would a hks evc be better??

I get popping from my exhaust when i hit high revs
shif_tea replied to 4bella's topic in Forced Induction Performance
hmmm i'd heard that the popping was cause skylines run rich and sometimes don't burn all the fuel. But not sure in your case. I'm no expert on this stuff...could it be detonating then the comp retards the timing or something?? Sorry not very helpful i know -

yeah i just got quote for $ 3100 premium from famous with all sorts of other crappy details (like $2000 excess if i'm at fault driver) I hate all insurance companies -
Hey all, I'm looking at getting a power fc and boost controller, was originally thinking AVCR (or possibly go cheapo 2 stage tubosmart controller), but i've seen advertised on the nengun site another apexi boost control kit designed to work with the power fc. Apparently it works using the same solenoid as the avcr. Has anyone used one of these or heard any stories about it?? It works out a fair bit cheaper than the avcr. http://www.nengun.com/product_info.php?cPa...2a2303597da2a9d If anyone has heard any stories about these it would be good to find out. If they suck i'd prefer to spend an extra few hundred for the avcr. Cheers

Need Insurance? Want Cheaper Insurance?
shif_tea replied to two40's topic in General Automotive Discussion
Just tried a qoute from Famous, under my 50 yo dads name with me (23 no bad record, no claims) as a nominated driver 25% of the time. Premium of $3100 with $1000 excess ($2000 if its my fault) on a 95' skyline gtst totally stock except for exhaust and pod filter. What a joke. This is even with SATRAK installed. Insurance companies don't like me for some reason. Think i'll stick with satrak, and 3rd party property + fire + theft. I hate all insurance companies -

Looking at buying a <=5k runabout.. r31?
shif_tea replied to pentae's topic in RB Series - R31, R32, R33, R34 (1986-2002)
hmmm congrats man. Much the pity, shoulda got a VL. Just don't come complaining when you aren't picking up any of the ladies, and they'e all taking off with other guys with hot VL's ahahahah jokes man, have fun with it -
Not criticising or anything dude, but i'm seriously doubting your drifting ability considering you're 19 and lost control in 3rd doing 50km/h. I can't drift at all. Never tried, but i've certainly had a few scary moments in the wet and managed to regain with no damage (and i drive like a granny in da wet) Lol, i would understand the accident if you weren't talking about how you could have undoubtedly drifted it in the wet... Once again dude, not criticising, and seriously bad luck, hope you get it fixed without too much hassles.

nah man, r31's are ugly.... :fight!: VL are heaps sexier. Don't want to hear your blasphemy, talking ill of the VL!! hahahaha nah each to their own. As long as i'm allowed to judge you all!!! -

Help to stop smoking.

pffft wat are these sissies talking about??? Nothing more manly than puffing on one....maybe 2 ciggies at a time. In fact, sell your car and stock up on cartons of cigarettes!! Hahhaha jokes man, good on ya for quitting, i'm with you, makes it much easier to quit if you have something tangible to aim towards. Look towards the power FC i reckon. That way you have more incentive for longer, plus its a mad upgrade!! (ps i never actually took up smoking but i'm talking in general terms!) -

hahahah just looked at that ebay auction. I love his line "You should feel safe when you purchase this new vehicle, as it comes with a new set of tires". Hahahah I'm sure thats a weight off everyones mind now, happy bidding!! -

Bl4ck32 why do u keep sticking up for that guy. I'd have the sh1ts too if someone kept cancelling auctions that i was bidding on. Like the dude said, if he wants a certain price either use reserves or if you can't, set the start price up to close to something you'll accept. Just my 2c -
I say we just all barrack for the death penalty for all car thieves. Or in the very least have a hand cut off for each offense. I absolutely hate car thieves with a passion, after having my VL commodore (i know its the easiest car in the world to steal) broken into 8 times in a period of 18 months whilst parked in my appartmeny complex. I was hoping they wouldnt' even try with the skyline. Think i might just buy a rottweiler and leave him in the backseat every night unfed!! Too paranoid. About insurance, the cheapest quote i've had for me is about 4700 bux so until something better comes up i'll live in fear like you dude!!

Power FC vs Super AFC II
shif_tea replied to shif_tea's topic in RB Series - R31, R32, R33, R34 (1986-2002)
sweet, not planning on the turbo just yet...the purchase of the skyline a month ago pretty much exhausted the money, plus i'm 23 and the insurance companies keep laughing at me At the moment just thinking of a boost controller, maybe bigger intercooler (cause it can't hurt) and of course the PFC or SAFC (whichever seems like the best idea) thanks for the info -
I've done a few very minor mods to my 95 gtst (ie exhaust, pod filter w/cold air etc) and before i go much further i was wondering about upgrading the computer in the car. I've heard that its a good idea to at least get the SAFCII and get it tuned to make the most of any mods to your car. I was wondering what the advantages/disadvantages of buying a new computer (power FC) over the SAFCII?? I know the PFC is a lot more expensive, is it overkill unless i'm planning on upgrading the turbo etc etc any time soon?? Any information regarding the 2 (or a different product if there is one that might be better suited to the job??) would be much appreciated. I'm still new to the skyline world so trying to figure out best line of attack to try and get around 200 - 210kw Cheers
