  1. wow thats pretty light. i thought cefiros weighed 1400. didnt think an RB20 weighed that much more now i wanna weigh my car,
  2. I am rebuilding my series II t28 turbo of an rb25. and decided to mod it on a tight budget. After pulling the turbo down i have found there is no shaftplay and the bearings had already been replaced when i bought the turbo cool... the aim is to have a turbo that can produce 210RWKW or there abouts on an RB20 and still give reasonable spool up without having to run greater than 1bar to get the power required... Step one took of exhaust and compressor housing. I machined out the exhaust housing out to 50mm. I then machined out the compressor housing to take a To4 V trim compressor wheel (sourced from GCG for $105) this wheel fits on the shaft of the turbo without modification. The only way to do the machining is look at the wheel and look at the housing and see how much needs to come off. This was done on a lathe and took a while with lots of test fitting. I then machined out the compessor inlet to 50mm. The turbo is ready to go together but i want to replace the ceramic turbine with a metal one. does anyone know a turbine that is a direct fit? as in the same shaft size and will fit in the rb25 housing? Most of this info was derived from boosted"s thread about his vg30bb turbo but i wanted a turb based entirley on the t28. i also have the to4e part number if anyone wants it. i will add photos and results as soon as i can get a compressor wheel thats not ceramic.
  3. oooh yeah thats one nice ceffy but good luck getting it complianced with the seam welded body and those wheels. need skinnier wheels for rego as they are exposed at the rear. Interestingly, it is a factory manual. This car would haul tho...

    HEHE that was me! i was doing a radio show at 2UE. :headspin: I have seen a stock black one on parramatta road, i gave the dude a beep and he smiled. 20/8/04 I have also seen a white one with a RB20/5/6 hybrid that puts out 300orr rwkw. it looks kinda stock but the dude showed me under the bonnet and my jaw dropped. it was in leichhardt.10/9/04 we really need to do a sydney cefiro cruise. Are any of you guys going to the Initial Drift practice session this sunday?
  7. this thread is gold. I have a few questions about this turbo build. I spoke to precision turbochargers and the guy told me the TO4E vtrim compressor wheel can fit on the rb25 spindle and the existing housing can be used. This would mean i do not need a vg30 exhaust housing. Does this work?. I dont mind if it is less powerful as my goal is 210rwkw. Is there a replacement exhaust wheel to replace the ceramic one that wont delaminate/chip? that is a direct/cheap replacement?. The turbo will be going on an rb20 and i want it to spool up as quickly as possible with this combo.
  8. Talk to toshi. he will book the dyno for you and you can meet him there. I used the dyno for a total of 17 runs and it cost me $80 The place to get the dyno work done is Procar. its on the northen beaches in sydney. Cheers!
  9. it cost me $250. that included toshi coming to the dyno place and burning a chip on site and then doing another dyno run to make sure it was perfect. he even gave me a copy of my stock chip so i can run it in factory tune if i like.
  10. fuel economy is slightly better than before. becuase at default settings most skylines/cefiros run rich. as for tuning in real time no. he comes with you and organises a dyno run. he looks at the A/F ratios and other stuff and burns an eprom on site on does another run untill the chip is correct for the car. so bacically the chip is custom made for your car and tuned properly.

I wanted to tell you guys about my results My car is 1988 cefiro rb20det stock turbo, stock intercooler, blitz BOV, 3" exhaust from dump back, electronic boost controller, walbro fuel pump, pod plus intake. running 1 bar before the ecu was chipped by toshi it was putting out 170rwhp and pinging. it seemed to run OK but was not as quick as i thought it should be. Toshi took all my mods into account and remalled ignition and fuel. He also removed the speed cut and boost cut. we put the chip in the ecu and did another run. The car sounded a lot better exhaust note. The results were 215rwhp. Thats a 45HP increase! and the car dosent ping anymore!. the peak power is great but the biggest difference you notice is the huge increase in torque/power in the midrange. The car now feels awsome to drive and is now quicker than my mate's wrx :throwup: haha! to anyone who wants their car tuned and running at its best get toshi to mod your ecu for you its the cheapest performance upgrade you will make and your air/fuel ratio will be correct. we could have got 20more rwhp out of it according to toshi if we pushed it upto 1.1bar but i didnt like the chances of the turbo livivng very long at that boost level. dyno sheet coming...

  13. I have a spare cefiro dash if anyone wants it. it has a big bubble in the parcel tray ontop. but it has the climate control and mirror thingies. These dashes are not too hard to take out. Say if anyone wants to take my dash along to a wrecker to see if it lines up with an r32 one just let me know. its in sydney.
  14. I have just swapped to an r32 ecu in my cefiro and had toshi remap the chip for my car. so yes it will run but the A/f ratios will be wrong at stock
  15. Everyone who has been in mine or driven it now wants one or is looking for one. so they will be coming here in a flood if the 15 year rule stays. Cant wait! i need the parts. also it will make our insurance cheaper according to my freind that works in an isnurance company.
  16. yep, my exhaust is going to be farked unless i guard it somehow. my cannon has so many scrapes it almost has a hole in it!! the car is on tien hr's and it scrapes at the cat and the cannon.
