  1. Yeah it is sure fun when you have losing your mind, sleep over one minor thing! Thank god it's all over.
  2. Hi all, It's fixed!!!! Pictures below will tell you all what I broke. See anything out of ordinary? Well... Actually if you look closer... Yes, I broke a clamp that holds FMIC piping on passenger side. The cause of my drama was FMIC piping blown apart. I'm pretty relieved to be honest cos I was facing the prospect of broken turbo or worse a RB26. Before I arrived Trent's workshop, Jack @ Citywide Towing told me that my problem is defintely a 'cooler piping and he was right - Having a GTR for 8 years, he'd know. So I'd like to say thanks to Jack for going out to my way and tow my 'broken' GTR. Your truck is pretty impressive, remote control of the tilt tray is quite cool. Also I'd like to say thanks to Trent for fixing the problem and gave me new clamp then it's as good as new. I'm a very happy camper now. Cheers Grant
  3. Then you're better off buying $500 Corolla and save up for Turbo Skyline when you're off your P's. If you MUST have R32, are you willing to compromise for 2L GTS (still hard to find)? If not, refer to above paragraph.
  4. Hmm... that is no from you then? That is the aim... Now, I'm waiting for the tow truck. Cheers Grant
  5. Could I drive this at Calder, please? And do the magazine feature.
  6. Henry, I know where I parked the R isn't a ideal place to park, nothing on this road is a good place to park and enjoy the sight of broken car! No worries on not being able to help me I'm not that good with tools either but I have a fair idea what makes Skylines tick (I had 32 GTST and 33 GTST before this), that is what mechanic is for. Yes my 100k service is also coming up... If the turbo is gone, I'll just whack HKS 2510s i've got sitting in my garage along with PFC + Boost Controller kit, OS Giken Triple plate clutch and go for broke. Good thing my work have given me more shifts. That is quite nice picture of my R, the height looks alright but I'd like to go lower another 10-15mm though. Cheers Grant
  7. Buy R33 GTS, easier to find, already have rb25 and could be picked up for decent price compared to overpriced r32, Just a thought?
  8. Peter said he didn't see any blue smoke so that could be a good sign, I know blue smoke means piston rings, black - overfuelling, that is why Trent said it may be 'cooler piping or AFM when I first described the problem but somewhow I forgot to mention about the screeching sound. Ron, yes I hope we'll sit and have few beers and laugh at my misfortune - actually when I got home I just smiled and laugh at myself for no reason! Yeah it is never good about the bonnet up and bits everywhere on driveway at motel in middle of nowhere! Yes Jack's dad did look after me and Jack is coming to my place tomorrow to pick the GTR. The fate of my GTR will be known by tomorrow and like everyone hopes that is a simple fix but we'll see. Cheers Grant
  9. Dave, You should buy my 33 GTR rims, the nuts will look good on it.
  10. You'll donate these to me yeah?
  11. Jarrod, The metal shavings were on 3rd cylinder and I still have oil pressure though and I was able to start it everytime and I don't think anyone heard knocking sound. Will tell Trent to do a compression and leak down test just to make sure. Did you see blue-ish smoke coming out of exhaust? It has become a very expensive day trip...
  12. Keep it, if you want to get rid of it, get something tougher than 32 GTR stockies.
  13. Yep, took a chunk out of my wallet! And it's just the beginning... the joys of GTR ownership, at least it isn't a Ferrari!
  14. Nathan, I may have killed something but won't know what exactly until I've have it looked by Trent of Status Tuning tomorrow or wednesday, look for my thread on Victoria forums for updates. Cheers Grant
  15. Hmm... could it be copper from the spark plugs? I've been informed by John (ssxricho) about the squealing sound on rear turbo, he described it as metal rubbing - he think it could be different material of gasket on exhaust manifold gasket? Or is this the sound of seized turbo? Any other ideas?
  16. Hey Peter, Shit, I didn't recoginse you, sorry about it! Hopefully I'll be able to send the GTR to Status tomorrow - I have John (ssxricho) offering me to tow it with 4x4 and trailer and I'm waiting to recieve a SMS from Jack if he is able to tow it before 4pm tomorrow. Cheers Grant
  17. ^^^ Hey, what's your name by the way? I did suggested to check the 'cooler piping but would need to remove the whole front end to have a proper look. Yes I'm agonising to find out what's the problem so tomorrow or wednesday I'll find out, like everyone I'm hoping for minor and easy to fix (it's a GTR, I doubt it'll be easy and minor).
  18. Hamish, Thanks and I'll be coming to events in future when I've got it sorted and hopefully it doesn't break down again. Cheers Grant
  19. Also where you buy them from, some countries sizing are different from others.
  20. Medium or Large depending on how shirt fits over me I've bought M and it fit me just right and L and it's small so for me it's between M and L.
  21. Tourists should be banned from twisties such as GOR - if I have the power to run this country, first thing I'll do! Hope my POS is sorted for this cruise. Yes Merowyn's (finally remembered her name - somehow I forgot when I was writing my mishap thread, sorry!) 'performance' was pretty amusing LOL. Only photo I have of this 'cruise' is my R on back of the Blue truck, as I don't have camera with me or Peter, will try to do my 'bit' for next cruise. At least this thing have more torque than the white thing on the back. Cheers Grant
  22. Hey James, sorry I forgot, cos too many new faces and have trouble remembering all on top of broken GTR and frantically trying to organise towing. Thanks for lending me your tools or what was it (feel free to refresh my memory)? Yeah, I was very impressed with price and service given, and I've left a message to Jack about towing from my place to Status hopefully tomorrow or Wednesday. I ended up going to the route home I was supposed to cruise with stage 1 in tow truck so I have new name for this route 'Route $600' Otways is kinda scary (in tow truck!) - may need roll cage and a satellite phone before going there. I had a chat with Trent, covered all the problem I encountered yet I forgot to mention him about screeching sound from rear turbo - any idea what is it? Trent reckons it could be 'cooler piping loose - we checked them but looked tight while front end is still on, so better remove the front end and check just to be sure. I have a feeling the BOV could leak and will have AFM looked at and go from there. So, will know more when the R is in Status and have Trent look at it over. Fun times ahead... Cheers Grant
  23. Haha, that is easy fix! Jack, No worries on the delay in responding to my texts and many thanks for sending your father to middle of nowhere to pick the broken GTR on day like today. When RACV won't go further than Apollo Bay and others wanted $900-ish. Yes your dad did a wonderful job with putting my GTR on his tray with care cos I know RACV wouldn't care about lowered cars. I'll defintely use Citywide Towing again in future, and Jack, I'll send you a text to sort one trip from my house to mechanic once I've make arrangements. I've said on other thread that SAU membership is the best 50 bucks I've spent. Cheers Grant p.s. I hope I never break down in middle of nowhere again!
  24. Thanks, and it is pretty clean, Peter has always telling me about how clean it is. Unfortunately about your guards cracking from the lowness, at least you get to drive home.
  25. Yes, I must admit it was a wise move! And I've met so many people in one hit and I have trouble remembering all the names...
