  1. if you look after it properly they can last up to 250,000k's safely. mines at 150,000 and still going strong, although an engine rebuild is in the books.
  2. i think that milky substance means you've fried a cylinder or something along those lines.. but im not 100%.
  3. oh yea.. my bad. im still a bit hammered from work. try swapping parts from your mates rb20.. swap your afm, then if that doesnt sort it out then try swapping your coils around.
  4. thought u said ur rev meter didnt work. is that an estimate?
  5. at what rev does it start doing that?
  6. im not saying your mechanic is wrong.... ok, yeah i am. if there was backfire throughout the rev range then it would be something like your fuel filter or plugs. but if you read through the sticky about the coils then you will see that everyone gets their misfire at around the 4500 mark.
  7. im pretty sure all s1 front bars are interchangeable between all other s1's
  8. yeah but im thinking if it didnt fit right away then they must be different. im not 100% if theres a difference in part numbers. but im sure that if it didnt fit right away then they arent right.
  9. well.. a coil for another engine wouldnt work, i imagine. completely different application. give the sanding a go before you take it anywhere. go to any nissan dealer for the springs or even a wrecking yard
  10. im 99% sure its your coils
  11. no need to be a prick there mate. i knew what he was saying.
  12. sounds like your coils are rooted
  13. spray a little on the spring too
  14. yeah.. give the sanding a go.. make sure u spray WD40 onto it so it doesnt corode.
  15. can you describe the sound a bit better? is it a misfire? if its a fuel cut the car will completely back off.
  16. if you've got a BOV then they probably took the vacuum pipe off for the carbon cannister so your BOV count connect to your plenum... this is the one that usually gets disconnected:
  17. dont worry about the carbon rods.. my bad just stretch your springs slightly and get a little dremil drill with a sander attachment and sand away the layer of shit on the inside of the coil where the spring sits in to a nice shine. you'll be amazed on how much crap comes out of it.. all that crap causes misfires on everyones car because it doesnt allow for a good contact between the coil and the spring... and then they go out and spend $700 on splitfires.. this is definately a good fix for it. mine have been running excellent since i did it.
  18. my car is auto.. but my mate had a heavy duty clutch supplied and fitted for $500, but thats in sydney.
  19. u can get some replacement springs from a Nissan dealership. they just pull in and out off the carbon rod on the inside of the coil pack.
  20. BARRY would u just listen to me BARRY!! ill get back 2 u barry.
  21. the way i see it is electricity always finds the shortest possible route, once your coils have a build up on the inside, the usual route is no longer the best one. so you all use araldite, but you are then no longer giving it a nother way to go except down to the coil, which is fine, but its always going to be "searching" for an alternate route. SO by cleaning the contact on the inside of the coil you are making the proper route down to the spark plug the best possible one. im no mechanic, but ive had my fair share of electronic experience (breaking stuff) and after i sanded down the inside of the coil packs, my cars performance increased noticeably
  22. just fix your coil... buy a new spring for it, and get a little drill set with a small sander attachment and sand away all the built-up shit on the inside of where the spring goes in the coil. shouldnt cost you much at all.
  23. isnt it just a 10mm bolt on the front?
  24. ask the guys at supercheap auto for the valvoline oil filter. it wont say skyline on it but it fits.
