  1. first time i searched whining noises everything came up diff so i was worried so i thought i'd double check here with a video, so its definitely the fuel pump then? im thinking of going walbro 255 would this be a good choice? in terms of power i dont plan on much, around the 200rwkw mark
  2. im hoping it is the fuel pump as i plan on upgrading anyway, hoping its not something expensive like the diff, ill reupload the video hold on
  3. hey guys so last night i was driving around and out of nowhere this loud whining noise started happening and doesnt seem to want to stop. Wasnt thrashing the car or anything just came out of nowhere really. the noise doesnt seem to change when i do anything in the car (revving, accelerating, neutral etc) except for when i turn my lights on/off the pitch changes, noise is coming from the rear of the car underneath it as far as i can tell, have a link with a video of the sound, someone please tell me whats going on? https://vid.me/2yqX
  4. awesome, well for starters i'll go get it checked out by an aircon specialist about the evaporator and after that i'll get all the parts i'll need and either install it myself and get all the little things sorted out by a pro or just get someone to install everything in one go
  5. are you running a front mount on your car? because that looks like a lot of extra stuff im going to have to put in between my front mount and radiator
  6. here are the pics, camera is shitty sorry http://imgur.com/a/3CsNp
  7. so to update i couldnt find any electicals because i wasnt too sure what to look for, the fittings weren't sealed, im fairly sure i found a sunload sensor on the dash and couldnt find the air temp sensor, i'll post some pics as well
  8. i'll have to check it all out tomorrow during the day and i'll post back here what i found, pics etc, thanks a lot for the info its exactly what i was looking for
  9. im being rude because he was being rude lol, and jiffo maybe people can just ask those questions i can give a response? i dont plan on writing out every single detail of my car and hope some of it is relevant information haha, im assuming the previous owner pulled out the AC because there used to be a big single turbo rb26 in it, and i can provide pictures of the engine bay and all that if needed but from what i can tell nothing on the interior of the firewall has been pulled out just all the engine bay components
  10. yet again your info wasnt helpful, i live in qld and theres plenty of places i can get parts nearby, what i asked for in the original post was a list of parts i needed for this, for example what parts i need to get new and what i'll be fine with second hand and whats involved in the whole process, i have gotten a response in my other thread although i'd like more than one source of input just to see if theres anything he missed etc, unless you know whats involved and a list of parts i need or a source with that information then stop wasting my time and get off this post
  11. Why do you think i'm posting here if i knew how to do it myself? i asked for a list of parts and wanted to know what's involved in the process, i know its complicated and i never planned on doing the entire thing myself but i wanted to get an idea of what i could get myself and what i could do myself and then once majority of it is done give it to someone who knows what they're doing to finish up all the wiring/little details. If i wanted to simply give my car to someone else to do the entire thing for me and spend a fortune in the process then i wouldnt be on this thread, and yes your initial information was totally useless because i asked for parts and a process and you told me to go do it myself or get someone to do it, please learn how to read and answer a question while using your brain before you write a reply thanks
  12. thanks a bunch scott really helpful! could you show/tell me where i should look for the bracket for the compressor and idler pully so i can check in my engine bay if i have them or not? could mean two extra parts ticked off before even getting started haha
  13. i've already made this post but wasnt getting much response to im trying posting here. so i've had my car for about a year now, bought it without aircon and was happy with it but i think i'll be keeping it for a while to come and want to put the air con back in, i want to know whats involved in doing this, parts i need etc. the car currently has the climate control thing and everything on it works, except for the fact there is no actual aircon system in there
  14. yeah pipes are there, so all i need is engine bay pipes and a compressor? is there anything else i need? because that doesnt sound like much thats all
  15. i have no idea, where is it meant to be located? i can look to see if i have it or not
  16. so i've had my car for about a year now, bought it without aircon and was happy with it but i think i'll be keeping it for a while to come and want to put the air con back in, i want to know whats involved in doing this, parts i need etc. the car currently has the climate control thing and everything on it works, except for the fact there is no actual aircon system in there
  17. update, i've replaced the ignitor module and success finally! wrx syndrome is gone although slight misfiring at idle and occasional backfire while driving are still present, i plan on getting injectors, fuel pump and a tune to sort that out and get some more power at the same time down the track
  18. sounds like an expensive journy haha, will keep posted on results
  19. ok will do this afternoon, i havnt yet replaced the loom so could it be possible also the wiring is at fault and its just old and needs replacing?
  20. *sigh* so much shit i have to fix to just find out what the real problem is, would it be a better option to just go compression test it and put it on a dyno to see exactly what the problem is, or at least narrow it down by a fair bit?
  21. ill get those two things done for now, also i dont know if this will help but on a cold start while idling it backfires every couple of seconds, nothing big no smoke or flames just a small backfire every second or two, the order is also random its not like it backfires every second consistently one second it might do it twice, not do it for another few seconds etc
  22. i'll check the plugs again, i know there is a cylinder failing thats for sure, and no i havnt done a compression test, if the test shows a low compression would i be looking at head gasket most likely?
  23. the only way i'll really know is if i go buy a new one which is more expensive than a second hand one (no point getting second hand if unknown condition)
