Mesh, Just a RB25, standard head and cams.
Dave, The only reason the torque drops off is cause we trailed the boost off as my fuel pump couldn't keep up, else it would stay pretty much straight across the page.
Dave/lukevl, As you can see, even with the stock cams it wasn't falling off as much as I would have expected. I kept the stock cams in so long just to see what power we could get out of them. They seem to have done very well.
Because they use hydraulics the lift isn't as aggressive as you get with solid lifters, but there the biggest I could find. 270duration 8.9mm lift. Shouldn't require any machining, and we're just putting a set of performance valve springs in to cope with high revs, 8.5k:D
Dave, Never mind, no point rushing something to fit into a Comp. I'm hoping on gaining a reasonable amount in the mid-range, only problem is the hydraulic lifters restrict me to lowish lift, but still got to be better than stock.
Yeah, I think we saved Zak and Jason from needing full engine rebuilds, both had dead fuel pumps. Lesson from this story, if your car starts to feel odd, get it checked out ASAP.
Well done Sean, I know there is a heap left in the car, and once your setup is right a 10 will be easy. I think front-runners will be a must, looked like a scarey ride at times:D
Thanks to all who came down, was a good day.
Thanks to all at SST for providing us with the venue and dyno, your support of SAUWA is much appreciated:D
