R33 Gtr On Awd Dyno With G Sensor Disabled
JD_R33 replied to JD_R33's topic in Engines & Forced Induction
haha.....almost.......just still not quite clear in my mind, because I thought that if disconnecting it disabled 4wd there would be *zero* power going to the front, as opposed to *very little*. But I guess that's near enough - thanks guys -
R33 Gtr On Awd Dyno With G Sensor Disabled
JD_R33 replied to JD_R33's topic in Engines & Forced Induction
Ok, now i'm really confused. If the rear wheels are spinning but the front aren't, wouldn't the Attesa ECU see that as "wheel spin" according to the ABS sensors, and try to send 50% power to the front? Or does disabling the G-force sensor shut down the torque split control completely? Sorry if these seem like dumb questions, but i'm still trying to get my head around how this system actually works on a dyno..... -
R33 Gtr On Awd Dyno With G Sensor Disabled
JD_R33 replied to JD_R33's topic in Engines & Forced Induction
Thanks for the speedy reply. Does the driveshaft really need to be removed on a 4WD dyno? If so, what's the point of even having a 4WD dyno, or is it just the case for GTR's? That really surprises me that they didn't do it then, as it was an experienced mechanic at a well regarded local performance workshop, and I even recall someone telling me he owns/has owned a GTR himself. -
Did a search of the forums, but came up empty hence the question. Took my R33 GTR v-spec to a dyno day (AWD dyno) recently and the workshop tech disabled the g-sensor unit in the console before the run. I assumed this was done because the Attesa system would be getting wheel speed input but no g-force input. I couldn't workout how disabling the g sensor (i.e. no g-force input) would help. Is this common practice when running a GTR on AWD dyno, and can someone explain why it's done?

It's hard to stop at one hey? I will possibly have a very tidy silver 96 R33 S2 GTS-T for sale in the near future, haven't quite decided whether to sell it yet. It's an auto though, so may not be what you're looking for. Drop me a PM if interested........

You should have come, it was a good day. Mine went on last after they had set up the dyno in AWD mode for my mate's GT4. I didn't think 198 was all that good, but I guess considering that was 3rd gear (hitting the speed cut in 4th) and the diffs playing silly buggers it's a reasonable baseline. That Aristo was just awesome. Back OT, I keep seeing a black R33 GTS-T at the Calwell shops - anyone on here?

Sorry, couldn't hear your exhaust over the 200db stereo level courtesy of young miss passenger. Still no progress on the wheels - big decision, that one. Did manage to pick up a Fujitsubo cat-back, front pipe, Catco cat, power FC and a massive hangover while in Sydney Exhaust is on, still a few things to be done before the pfc and tune happen. Went to a dyno day at ESP last Sunday with a mate from the Celica club (and yes Bullet, I can confirm there are more than 3 of them, really nice blokes actually) and discovered the Attesa system needs bleeding, as it was making the dyno a bit unhappy. Some boost control and a gauge are also on the list. This Skyline owning thing is hard work! PS - you get busy with the missus three nights a week? Dammmmnn.

Can't imagine how a bearing could be bent, maybe they meant something that runs in a bearing like #40022 in the picture below? That's from an R33 parts diagram, but I think the R32 setup is much the same. Maybe print that and get them to point to the part they mean?

Yeah I was stalking you again dude, just waiting for the right moment to steal those wheels Actually, I would have pulled over for a chat but had to get the teeny-bopper to school and be at work by 8:00. Maybe we should organise a lunch or beer o'clock at the Kingo, open to all SAUers of course.

Better still Jeff, how about on our collective behalf you take a big sign along that says something like "Poor dress sense & perms are uncool, not GT-R's", you know, like they do at the wrestling. If they ever televise the show we can all go "look, there's Jeff"

Yep, looking for a quiet exhaust like the Fujitsubo Legalis or the Kakimoto Regu that Just Jap sells. I didn't particularly want a big cannon hanging out the back, which is why the Fuji was my preference. Thanks heaps for the suggestions guys, I don't live in Sydney but will be up there next week with a spare day to do the rounds of the performance shops

Does anyone know who sells Fujitsubo cat-back exhausts in the greater Sydney area?

Uncool? From a bloke who perms his hair? Pffffffttttt..

Speaking of stickers, I made these up the other night after frigging around in the dark trying to work out which fuse was which in the dashboard fusebox. They are sized so they just stick on the inside of the R33 fusebox cover, and I was able to squeeze 9 on a sheet. So you can either: (a) print your own using the template down there \/ on some A4 inkjet paper with the peel off backing or (b) pull me over if you see me around town, and i'll give you one of my left overs. R33_Dash_Fuse.doc Tried posting the template in the DIY forum, but it didn't seem to get there. Oh well......

After blowing the interior light bulb the other night then fumbling around in the dark trying to find the right fuse, I decided to make a sticky label to go in the front cover of the cabin fusebox. You just need to print the template onto an A4 sheet of inkjet paper with the peel away backing, which you can possibly steal from work, or worst case buy from somewhere like Officeworks. Just cut it up, stick one inside your fusebox cover and give the other eight away to random R33 owners. Oh, and pretty sure it applies to all R33 models, but feel free to correct that if it's wrong. Spotted sfrizza? along Mugga Lane this arvo and all the way to Calwell, also a maroon GTST somewhere but buggered if I can remember where.

Pretty sure the testing procedure is covered under ADR 83, details can be found in this document: http://www.ntc.gov.au/filemedia/Reports/Na...estSept2006.pdf Each jurisdiction decides what noise level they will permit (i.e. DB) for each category of vehicle, but they are all supposed to follow the same testing procedure. You could print a copy and keep it handy if you were ever tested, although they would probably just decide you were being a smart arse and get you for something else. These are the same "people" who wouldn't pass my car on Friday because I didn't have an owners manual........

Sheesh alright, only been back on here a couple of days after a lengthy absence. Seems like it's not the sort of forum it once was.........

don't take it personally? hmmm....ok
-
I think you may have misinterpreted my post, not that it justifies the personal attack. I didn't personally have a problem with there being no alcohol, in fact I happened to be there on the Thursday and Friday and didn't drink at all. The issue was more the fact they were charging 30 bucks for people to get into a practically non-existent event, and heavily promoting it on the basis of being alcohol free, as opposed to being trade stand free and largely car free. There were so few people around on the Thursday, and most of those were either busy setting up trade stands or preparing their cars for the alcohol ban to have made much difference. In reality it probably only meant the traders couldn't have a beer until after 6:00. If they were serious about accomodating non-bogans and families at the event, they would have a full day (e.g. Friday) alcohol free, and free admission on the set-up day. Maybe a vague knowledge of "responsible service of alcohol" by the vendors would help on the other days too....

Don't think so, or at least I didn't see it there. How long ago was it on there? I got it via a compliance shop in Melbourne and they have a car yard attached, but have only ever seen their ads on carsales.com.au.

Thought they were Volks, but didn't get a good enough look. Very nice. I'm having trouble imagining anything other than gold Volk GT-C's on this blue, although apparently I have appalling taste when it comes to wheels (e.g. chrome Starcorps on last skyline). Can anyone suggest something nicer than GT-C's?
-
Yep, t'was me. I think I tried to wave back, but it was early and I was on autopilot as well. White R33 with goldish wheels? I was probably checking out your wheels, wishing mine weren't so....stock. I must look like one of the summernats blow-ins with the Vic plates, hopefully they'll be gone by friday.
-
Sixty bucks - ouch! The biggest scam must have been the "No Alcohol" Thursday though - thirty bucks to get in, no pavilions open, very few entrants cars around, and, yeah, no alcohol....

+1 I'd swap Bogannats for Autosalon in a heartbeat. Would even escort that whinging Henry fella to the border.
