  1. A new Army Captain was assigned to an outfit in a remote post in the African desert. During his first inspection of the outfit, he noticed a camel hitched up behind the mess tent. He asks the Sergeant why the camel is kept there. The nervous sergeant said, "Well sir, as you know, there are 250 men here on the post and no women. And sir, sometimes the men have "urges". That's why we have the camel." The Captain says, "I can't say that I condone this, but I understand about urges, so the camel can stay." About a month later, the Captain starts having his own "urges". Crazy with passion, he asks the Sergeant to bring the camel to his tent. Putting a ladder behind the camel, the Captain stands on the ladder, pulls his pants down and has wild, insane sex with the camel. When he's done, he asks the Sergeant, "Is that how the men do it?", No. not really sir...They usually just ride the camel into town where the girls are."
  2. A horse walks into a bar. The barman says "why the long face?"
  3. Well, it won't hurt to take your car around there and show him - quotes are free!
  4. The problem with blue LED's is that a lot either aren't bright enough, or are too directional to use in your dash (i.e. only shine forward in a really small arc). I must have pulled my dash out about six times before getting it right! First I tried the little blue condoms from Repco - not blue enough. Then some Monza blue LED's from supercrap - really dull and only light up small sections of the dash. Then made some up using blue LED's from Jaycar with dropping resistors - a bit brighter but still too directional. Finally found some LED's on Ebay that were listed as something like "T10 Spark Blue Inverted LED's". Instead of having a rounded end these are, well. inverted I guess. They came in packs of two, so ordered six as dash uses five from memory - kept one for a spare. These look pretty good with a nice spread of light. Oh, and does anybody want to buy 6 condoms, six Monza LED's or six homemade blue LED's?
  5. The post about hail and a few people getting their cars dinged up reminded me that I was going to put something up about the Dent King in Philip. Dropped in to get a quote for fixing a couple of small dings a few Saturdays ago, ended up getting it done on the spot and was very happy with the results. The guy who did the work was Chris, a top bloke who works with his Dad out of their private garage in Philip, not far from the CIT. Had one dent about 40mm diameter in the rear quarter panel which Chris made disappear completely, also pulled out a couple of small dings in a door caused by car park retards. I should point out that Chris doesn't do paint - so if the paint work is damaged he will refer you to someone else. Having said that he did manage to make a pretty bad dent in my passenger door a lot less noticeable, to the extent that I can probably just get the paint touched up now instead of forking over the $370 a panel beater quoted me for respraying the whole door. Overall, his prices are very reasonable compared to some of the alternatives. Oh, and his mobile number is 0417 469885 or you can find him in the Yella Pages or on the web at www.dentking.com.au.
  6. Wanted - adaptor to suit stock R33 Series 2 RB25DET AFM. Must suit a 3" K&N pod filter. NOT after one of the cheapo or "universal" adaptors from Supercheap/Autobarn etc, that don't line up properly with the stock bolt holes.
  7. Hi OZ, Welcome to SAU. I bought a 96 SII from Sydney in about October last year, also had no idea about anything Skyline related at the time. If you spend some time trawling around these boards you should be able to find almost anything you need to know, and the people on here are always willing to help out. I'll give you a brief run down on what I have done to my 'line since buying it... Maintenance Firstly, don't assume the previous owner ever did any maintenance and change everything! Oil, oil filter, air filter, coolant, gearbox, brake pads the works. I change the oil every 5k and the filter at 10k. There are articles in the DIY/Tutorial thread for all these jobs. Also check all the usual stuff like lights, switches and fix what doesn't work. I had a few things that either didn't work or were just plain missing and managed to source second hand replacements from the For Sale or Wanted sections of SAU, and the rest from Just Jap in Sydney. Seems like everyone has their favourite oil. As long as it is the right viscosity, and preferably synthetic you should be ok. For what it's worth, I have been using Castrol R and it seems pretty good. I usually pick some up from Autobarn or Supercheap whenever I see it on special. A good panel air filter (e.g. K&N) was the first thing I put in. I am trying a pod filter at the moment, but it doesn't seem much different and really needs a Cold Air Partition and intake to be worthwhile. It does sound cool tho Insurance I got my first policy in a bit of a hurry, as I wanted something in place to cover the drive back from Sydney. I used Just Car Insurance, but have since got a quote from Shannons that is a bit cheaper. Pays to shop around if you have time, some companies won't usually touch imports and/or younger drivers. Mods After the panel filter I put on a set of wheels and tyres from Tempe Tyres in Sydney, cause the original tyres were stuffed. Next was a set of Whiteline swaybars from Inline at Queanbo, then a 3" turboback exhaust and hi flow cat system bought from Sydney and fitted by Powatone at Fyshwick. You might want to find the thread about bypassing the standard boost control solenoid either permanently or via a switch in the cabin like I have done. A trick that works well for little effort. Oh, and you'll also need to learn how to reset your ECU whenever you do a significant change to the engine tuning. Hell, do it now anyway! Still yet to fit Whiteline springs/shocks, FMIC, Jaycar boost controller and digital fuel adjuster kits, oil catch can and whatever else I have bought and stuffed in a cupboard somewhere. For anything else, just post a question or drop us a PM. Enjoy!
  8. Actually, mine is on a GTS-T but I'll try and take some pics on the weekend anyway.
  9. Sorry to hijack your thread, but I've been wondering the same thing. I have a Whiteline front swaybar on my R33 with four holes as well, but can only get the link to reach the second one. Didn't think the link could be put in any other way either......
  10. Thanks for the heads up on the taillights, but the wierd thing is they were all working when I checked them tonite. Maybe it was a couple of brake lights that were out, just replaced em all anyway. The odd looking restrictor thing in the cannon has been there since the new exhaust went on last week, haven't had a chance to rip it out yet. Not sure if I am in a big hurry to pull it out anyways, given that the car currently spends it's days in a certain carpark at Weston.....
  11. If it's a 33 the dash and park lights should be on the same circuit, the fuse will be in the box on the front drivers side of the engine bay. Just yank out each fuse until you find the blown one, it won't be hard to spot.......
  12. Well, I think you might have waved at me out Gordon way sometime today, but my memories not much better. No idea why...... :alcoholic
  13. Hmmm....me thinks you need to spend some "quality" time in the outer suburbs of Sydney, and then tell us again about how bad the bogans in Brisvegas are :uh-huh:
  14. Actually, the real problem with QLD is that there are too many NSW people. All happy to bag the joint out, but give em half an opportunity and they're up there like a rat up a drainpipe. Who could blame them for wanting to get out of sh*tholes like Syd-a-nee......
  15. Jees, Queenslanders comin outta the woodwork! Go the mighty Toads!!! PS - ever seen anyone with blue blood? Everyones maroon on the inside, they just don't like to admit it..... :chairshot
  16. Unless things have changed since I got my R33 rego transferred from NSW to ACT late last year, Gus is basically correct - you can get the roadworthy done anywhere. BUT if you purchased the vehicle privately you will also need to get an identity check done, which I was told could only be done at dickson, so I decided to get both done at once. Didn't have any problems getting a stock 'line through after puting on some decent tyres and replacing a leaky castor bush. I recall someone saying the rules for over 15 year old cars might be different though, but if your buying a 33 that won't matter.
  17. Interesting debate isn't it? I spend my time doing IT support for two different govt agencies that are both directly involved in the airline business, so I get to talk to a lot of people in the industry. I had a conversation with someone recently who had worked as a baggage handler, and he asked me if I thought she was guilty. I said the thing that I couldn't work out was, if it sounds so ridiculous that she would try to take drugs into Bali where they are actually cheaper, why would anybody else want to smuggle it in her luggage? He smiled and said "Well that's easy to explain - nobody was trying to smuggle the drugs into Bali." "They have been moving drugs grown in Qld down to Sydney and other places via passenger baggage for years." "Someone puts it in the baggage in Brisbane, someone else takes it off at the other end, the passengers are usually none the wiser". "Occasionally someone stuffs up at the receiving end, which is what happened in October last year". "Everybody in the industry knows she's not guilty....." He went on to explain that when he first started working as a baggage handler he was offered $6000 in the first 3 weeks, just to turn a blind eye to certain activities. With all of the security that has been put in place at airports over the last few years someone forgot about the baggage handlers. Apparently they have just started conducting proper backgound checks on existing staff, and more than 50% of those checked have some sort of criminal record.
  18. Hmmm....I was still in bed at 630.......maybe the car went out without me again :headspin:
  19. I've been using Caltex 98 ron Vortex since they installed the new pumps at Calwell servo. I always used Ultimate before, and to be honest I can't notice any difference.
  20. Not sure how many k's I would get driving around town, as I seem to suffer from some strange affliction that prevents me ever remembering to reset the trip meter when filling the tank. On the highway I would guess somewhere around 450 km + to a tank - on Saturday drove from Tuggers to Autosalon at Homebush, then on to Gladesville, filled up at Marulen on the way home, which I reckon would be around the 450 mark. If you are getting something drastically less you could do what I did - clean your AFM, replace your air filter and O2 sensor, and reset your ECU.
  21. Hey Gus, that would have been me. You should have given me a shout. My son and his mate were riding their bmx's in the Pines and I had to go and pick up a shovel they were too lazy to carry home.
  22. Nope, not me. Mine's a 96 with shadow chrome 18's and last time I looked had no For Sale sign....
  23. For those of us out-of-towners considering the long drive up the highway, is it cars only, or are there exhibitors flogging off performance bits as well?
  24. Ok, maybe somebody on here did manage to get a shot away during the tour, but how do YOU explain THIS???
