  1. Looking for a set of stock rear speaker pods to suit an 1996 R33 GTR. My parcel tray currently has two gaping holes in the parcel shelf where the compliance shop ripped out the stock speakers and bolted in some child restraints. When I asked for the stock speakers they told me they were rubbish and had thrown them out. They told me to just bolt in some 6 1/2 " speakers, but I don't like the idea of bolting them straight to the metal parcel shelf. If the GTR is anything like my GTS-T, there should be some plastic between the metal and the speakers, and a grill to cover everything up so it looks tidy.
  2. That was me learning the hard way that you should always make sure the o-ring from the old oil filter hasn't stuck to the engine block, before you screw on the new filter. 4 litres of brand new Castrol Edge on the driveway, and much swearing that you probably heard from your GF's place. Car was sent packing to the nature strip in disgrace. Next time, can I come down to your GF's and change the oil on the new paving?
  3. Sorry to dredge up this post again, but can anyone tell me exactly where/what/how to get to the place near Captains Flat? I think it's on someones private property, like Larbert near Braidwood is. Tried Googling it, but SFA. Thanks
  4. Thanks for that. Can you give me a rough idea of how to get to Cowrin Forest, i've never heard of it before?
  5. Just bought the young fella his first trail bike and keen to take him out to get a face full of dirt and some gravel rash this weekend, but I have no idea where to go. Anybody know some good spots out of town a bit where no-one cares too much if we putt around on unregistered bikes? If you don't want the whole world to know about a fav spot, PM me maybe... Thanks!!
  6. According to the thread here the Skyline garnish is lit up by some sort of EL strip. I would try swapping the little black box with one off someone elses R33, just to make sure it's actually the box that's stuffed and not the EL strip. You could probably get another box from one of the import wreckers like Just Jap....
  7. Decided to pull the passenger side tail light out today cause it had some moisture in the clear indicator lens part. After finally figuring out how to get it out and spending about an hour scraping gooey black sealant off everything, I finally got it apart and put it outside in the sun to dry. Even made sure I put it up high enough so Stupid The Dog couldn't get it, but 5 minutes later I hear a crash and the wind has blown the f'ing thing off it's perch and it's landed on the concrete. Of course Murphy's Law dictates that the clear part that I was carefully trying to dry must now be fully cracked and have pieces smashed off it. So, if anyone has a LH tail light for sale, please give me a shout.
  8. After a complete left hand (passenger) side tail light assembly for a 1996 R33 Series 2. Will need to be delivered to Canberra. Please send a PM or email me at [email protected].
  9. That should buff right out But seriously, I passed you as well yesterday coming out of Long Gully road. Would have stopped but it looked as though you were ok and everything was pretty well sorted by then. If it's any consultation, I just got back from the Hong Kong sevens and the drivers over there and particularly over the border in China have to be seen to be believed. They make even ACT drivers look marginally competent. Hope it all works out ok for you.
  10. JD II Pretty sure both BDL at Fyshwick and Braddon Car stereo both do Mongoose stuff. As for nothing ever going wrong with them, I had a Mongoose fitted less than 18 months and one of the remote keyfobs decided to "stick" on and kept randomly locking and unlocking the doors. Don't see how that one could be an "install problem". I was also told that a turbo timer could be added to it later on. When I went back "later on" I was told that it couldn't be done but they would be happy to install a better system that could for like another $500+. Not in the habit of bagging a business on here, PM me if you want to know where it was done.
  11. Richard, I hate to be the one to tell ya, but that's gonna look bloody awful on your 32......
  12. Just saw a Corolla about the right age with faded red paint and a couple of middle eastern looking guys inside driving down Canberra Ave near St Eddies, heading towards Fyshwick/Qbn direction. The driver was wearing something wierd on his head, looked like a towel! They were well past me when I realised what sort of car it was, so didn't see the windscreen, and only got a glimpse of the rear plate because there were bushes in the way, looked like YCP something. Hopefully someone else will spot them driving and get a better look than I did from the footpath.....
  13. Hey White JD This should answer your questions: http://www.rego.act.gov.au/registrations/r...cleidentity.htm And if in doubt, just ring them - they really are lovely people and want nothing more than to ensure that you can do whatever mods you like to your car
  14. When I transferred my rego from NSW to ACT it had to go through Dick(head)son for an ID check because it was bought privately interstate. If I had already owned the car in NSW I think I could have taken it anywhere for the inspection. PS - this 2 x JD thing is going to get confusing
  15. Thanks guys. Turns out it is a 1995 GTS-T, so in other words a Series 1. The problem I have is that the dash trim kit I just got from the US which is supposed to fit 94 - 97 models doesn't fit my S2, because it was designed to fit on the car in the picture. Bugger!!
  16. Can someone confirn that the dash in this picture is an R33 Series 1? I'm sure it's not a Series 2, but don't really know what a Series 1 looks like. Also, does anyone know if there is a difference in the general dash layouts between R33 two and four door models? All will be explained later in a thread about dash trim kits on Ebay..... Thanks!
  17. Sorry buddy, saw you at the last minute and tried to get a wave back but only succeeded in making the guy behind you wonder why the hell I was waving at him.
  18. Not sure if Chris (Dent King) is still doing it. Last time I saw him he was talking about going overseas early this year. Maybe post back whether or not you manage to contact him so we all know......
  19. Mick, I had a similar problem with my auto recently - suddenly wouldn't go into top gear or overdrive. I reset the ecu and the problem went away. Not sure if that will work for you but it's worth a try. If you have a complete fill of Transmax Z now I would keep using that, as it is certainly good stuff. I was going to use Transmax Z when I got my auto serviced but they talked me out of it and ended up putting in Dexron III. They reckoned Transmax was overkill for the price unless I planned on doing a lot of track work. The reading on the dipstick also looked like it had been overfilled when I checked it before the service - not sure what the go is with that. Pity you're not in Canberra, I have a litre of Transmax I don't really need anymore......
  20. The Razo version: The Levoc:
  21. Thanks Funky - any idea who might sell the "select few" with the overdrive switch? I guess I could always wire up the overdrive switch somewhere else on the console.......
  22. Anybody know who sells aftermarket auto shift knobs for an R33, preferably in Sydney or Canberra? After one of the slim soarer style knobs with the button on top instead of the big ugly stocko T-bar style. I have heard Nismo, Navan and Levoc all make them but yet to see one in any of the auto parts stores.
  23. I just dredged up an old post that says it was a "factory option" on Series 2's, which explains why only some have it.
