  1. Yeah you do get quite alot of noise with stock blow off valves. Only you need a set of pod filters to hear it.. With stock recirculating blow off valves the air gets re-directed back into the intake of the turbos. Therefore when you back off completely you get that air hitting the compresor blades while they are slowing down. If you have a modified air filter setup (especially pods) you will hear this more due to the lack of extra baffling that the standard system has. Correct me if im wrong..
  2. yeah it equates to a RAF17 (repco) or A320 (ryco)
  3. Well yeah thats the problem ive come accross. i want to be able to use this car but its hard to bring yourself to even drive the thing after so much time and money have been poured into it. I do plan at least to go to the drags with my new engine in etc, but was planning to go for a few laps during (hopefully) quiet time on a circuit.. Just have to be clear of other cars especially if they are behind me!
  4. Stock gtr thermostat opens at 76.5c Most engines thermostats open much later.. Elk: No, they SEIZE. (Well, I guess when they seize, they cease.) LOL Yeah ive seen plenty of them seize. Id first be checking your overflow bottle level, if its low do a presure test on the system. If not run the engine and check that both lower and upper radiator hoses get hot meaning the thermostat has opened. leave the cap off during this period making sure there are no more air bubbles coming out before you put it back on..can take upto10 mins or more.. Give the engine a rev to help circulate the coolant and remove air pockets.. Once this is done then check to make sure your fan clutch is grabbing once hot enough. If he has overheated it bad enough there is a good chance you have screwed the head gasket too.. Possibly do a Co2 test to confirm. Deren
  5. Take a look at my new alternator, got it rebuilt.. I really got resize some of these photos.
  6. Might be stating the obvious but have you looked for the 3 points of combustion? Fuel, spark, and compression? Pull a plug out n see if its wet after cranking, check to see if your getting spark by earthing a removed plug on the head, test for compression...Im no expert but unless the compression was really bad on all cylinders you would get some sort of firing... Hope you get it running! Deren
  7. Yeah being that bare it can really become any car hey...
  8. Cheers guys, i have had the blower fan, evaporator, and heater core all out for cleaning and inspection over the last week or so. All looks good so i fitted a new TX valve and flushed everything out bit by bit. All going back together at the moment. Also painted up the condensor to freshen it up a bit. Gonna put in a new receiver dryer of course
  9. Dude your hijacking my thread not to mention stealing a potential purchase of mine. Where's your manners? LOL
  10. Its funny how many people balance up wheels (especially aftermarket rims with stick on weights) and just get it close. In my experience with stick on weights it is quite time consuming to get it perfect. Like Blind Elk said go back to them for a fix..especially if it has only happened since getting the new wheels.
  11. I forgot there is a heat exchanger that is sandwiched between your oil filter and block. It also has 2 coolant hoses running to it..
  12. Not normal but could be alot of things. Seeing it is in heat maybe its a flexible pipe sucking closed.. It'll either be a problem with boost control itself or a problem with getting the charge air to the engine. Good luck
  13. If you have isolated the compressor to be the cause of the problem, id say it could probably be the bearings in it. My advice would be to remove it (make sure you plug up all lines/connections) and take it to a auto aircon place to get serviced. PS: After you remove it just try to spin it over and see what kind of feel you get from it. Make sure you spin the centre and not just the outer pulley. It should feel nice and smooth to rotate.
  14. Yeah id say for a new shiney finish to rub it back and give it a new coat of clear. Raw carbon fibre looks kool but clear coated it looks really shiney and brings out the texture in it.
  15. Ahh yes that does sound familiar! Someone may have once suggested/told me that. Cheers mate.
  16. Probably heater hoses and connections to firewall/heater core
  17. Ok i wasent aware that the gear itself was a different width also.
  18. Those dont look standard on the black car...I want a pair of those
  19. Cool thanks for that Duncan. Much appreciated. I would like to know what it does too. Deffinetly looks to be an afterthought to me, the way its spliced in..
  20. I can sell you the standard ones.. They are just a little flap. if your interested i can give you pics..
  21. Anyone got a pair for me with pics? Its for a GTR not sure if they differ at all.. PM ONLY Thanks, Deren
  22. Thanks mate, your right about the rebuilds. I would have saved thousands doing all the labour myself. Considering your average workshop charges $80 an hour. Im a mechanic so its pretty handy when doing something like this.
  23. Not bad but im not sure i want mine to wrap around so far. What kind are yours? Came on the car? Just want a simple finisher
  24. Anyone know of places where i can buy a finisher add-on for the rear bumper just after the rear wheel? Any places that sell them new? After a good fitting pair of them. Post pics if possible..
  25. Yeah i dont intend to sell her anytime soon so the kids just may get to see it..Thats if i ever settle down and have some...Scarey thought, but one day would be nice. I have a couple of pics of the engine bay but one of the things they havent given back to me is the bonnet stay so i cant keep it open while taking a photo lol. As i said most of the front end will come off soon though so i wont have a bonnet in the way of a good shot then! I'll post it up 2morow or sunday..
