  1. these are average figures of course had a run with a wrx last night actually, modded [arent they all], got a shit take off [didnt know it was ON really] but he started similar then bang he pulled hard but never caught up! Took me 2 goes to hit 3rd gear but this still wasnt enough for him to catch up
  2. Hi All, A friend has recently turbocharged his car [97 model Astra]. What would you guys recommend upgrading next, the clutch or the brakes? [assume both are stock currently] Dont say both because one will be done before the other, just not enough funds to do at the same time. Thanks!
  3. Dude I thought you would know what your cars base power / specs are, anyway here ya go: Skyline R33 GT-ST-25T RB25DET 2498cc DOHC 24 valve EFI Straight 6 Turbo 187kw @ 6400rpm 295nm @ 4800rpm 7000rpm 1390 kg 6.18 seconds 14.39 seconds
  4. stock vs stock - it comes down to the driver, DJ: if you got majorly ripped by one it could of been because of mods! 300 ZX Twin Turbo 2 Seater VG30DETT 2997cc Quad Cam 24 valve EFI V6 Twin Turbo 208kw @ 6400rpm 388nm @ 3600rpm 7200rpm 1490 kg 5.96 seconds 14.20 seconds Vs Skyline R34 25GT-Turbo RB25DET 2498cc NEO DOHC 24 valve EFI Straight 6 Turbo 206kw @ 6400rpm 343nm @ 3200rpm 7000rpm 1410 kg 6.00 seconds 14.20 seconds
  5. "branded parts" can be a bit like runners / after shave etc, you can find cheaper stuff that often comes from the same factory... slightly off-topic buy hey, you started this thread anyways
  6. DIY, shop around, heckle / bargain a little - or get your g/f to do it, they love it! Eg. Recently spent $40 on an oil change, including the oil filter and tools - synthetic 10w40 hi-perf. oil, valvoline filter, wrench, change pan etc. Also, when you are constantly living on "stuff all money" - it makes it easier to get stuff cheap - be nice to people and do favours helps also!!! mostly obvious stuff but it works
  7. watch me
  8. Nice mocco's Sorry I meant front pipe /me also waiting to hear your answers to Gianni's questions. Doing mine v.soon buy possibly getting a custom job done now.
  9. How long have you had the car? Just wondering whether it was like this when you test drove it? AFAIK - the boost cut on our 34's is approx 1 Bar. I have hit the boost cut before and what u described in 1st post is basically what happens [jerking etc]. Even if you could turn that valve more you are not going to develop anymore boost cause you are already hitting the limiter / cut out, you will only hit the cut earlier if possible. Perhaps the valve was plumbed in reverse somehow - JUST turn the knob and take it for a test drive. A fully OPEN bleed valve should run stock boost, a fully CLOSED valve will give maximum boost! Where abouts in "Australia" are you? What colour is your 34? BTW: stock boost on a 34 is .55 bar which is 7.9 psi! Cheers.
  10. Dude I am 29y.o - I know how to spend money. and get stuff for free without stealing
  11. AFAIC, my lights havent cost me anythin so far So if they're free, why not I say! I do agree with what you are saying HOTR33. Only 2 tyres for $1200? What are they slicks
  12. hmm I feel like going to heathcote [all of a sudden] late reply - too many websites / downloads at the same time...
  13. Heatcote will be good, the more I think about it the more I want to go. Perhaps we should invite the WRX club [in a friendly way] and compare eggs for chickens - sorry my bad
  14. Dave, with that leak was it just the hose / loose hose? Or did you have to replace the pump? Mine is leaking a bit and I removed and checked the hose and it was fine  Made sure the clamps are nice and tight now but havent tested it yet...will be testing [driving] it tomorrow. Thanks.
  15. hopefully its not p*ss in there lol sorry man had to say it. cant help cause I havent had to change mine yet - hoefully its not yellow though! Call your mechanic!
  16. yeah maybe - depends how you look at it / read it I guess So is it HPIv5 or HPv6 ?
  17. fade, this may help you. I recently measured my stock 34 intercooler and its approximately 225 x 200 x 80 [all in mm]. Thats the core size only, not including end tanks. May help you decide whether its much of an upgrade or not. I have read that the 34 are thicker by 20mm [almost an inch]. Cheers.
  18. yahoo do imports now? I wanna yahoo system exhaust
  19. lmao I though you meant you had a big arse symbol sitting on yer wall or something he he
  20. The symbol goes with the exhaust - ie its not just a badge Its a Kakimoto cat-back exhaust. Thanks K [r31sKylinechicK]! Yeah send em thru thanks: [email protected] Daz: thanks mate, I bought if from a private importer under the old scheme late last year!
  21. I hope you have a torque wrench! Sounds good so far, I have a box full of engine bits out of my car atm too! Not the engine though, just a lot of piping etc...
  22. Daz, I have had similar wheels on the back of my 34 Gt-t they were 17 x 9 inch and they never came close to scraping / scrubbing offset was +38 from memory - hope this helps! NB. I have standard suspension / ride height. The front wheels I had on were only 17 x 8 but had no problems with those either.
  23. It is MCCR that is also going to heathcote but its ok cause they are doing it this month - 24/25th May! *wipes forehead and looks for Solo can* Will the price for us be similar to this?
  24. There is a place in Footscray that some of these guys go too but can't remember the name - just wait until they see this thread if you can. I will try to remember. A search around the forums may help too.
  25. 1/2 keen I think another club is doing a similar thing, perhaps on a different day though!
