My wife and jack recond the noise is in my head! What noise! (perhaps the loony bin would be a better fix?) done all the turbo/dump pipe studs gaskets etc. So will check the manifold.

Yeah i panicked at first thinking ouch turbo, bearings, piston slap, gudgeon pin, big end knock etc. but can fully pinpoint the sound to no6 rear exhaust cam cover at only that tiny rev range. Will sus it out better on the w/end? Might need a real mechanic! Would assume tig welding it won't help!

Yeah did a oil change Saturday. Had done 7000 so will change at 5000 now religiously it disappeared at idle after the change and is only 2800-3200 on no6 under gentle acceleration in second? Rattle rattle - gone? No noise with 6 coil pack disconnected! Weird. Haven't pulled the cam cover but goes away with no 6 H.t. Disconnected? So I would assume a cam lifter follower issue? Seeing as its on the exhaust side?

Can only pick up the rattle in 2nd gear under mild acceleration?

I ran it hard on Saturday morning early on the old oil and it was noticeable at idle. Only noticeable at the 2800-3200 after the oil change? Would assume it only needs a new lifter? or clean (doubt it) and gapping not valve stem seal honing etc? Any advice?

Hey Trev I was looking up lifter issues on Sau and it had your posts solving the issue?! (r&d maniac) I've noticed a slight rattle in the exhaust cam p/s on no.6. I disconnected the coil pack at rattle revs. 2800-3200 and the rattle went away, phew no piston slap or gudgeon pin issues etc. Was wondering the fix for this without bagging my mate dave out.? Doesn't affect the performance at all and I's only in the specific rev range with the H.t. Lead disconnected? I changed the oil on Saturday and it runs sweet except for the noisey lifter on 6? At those r p.m.?

Mundaring wier or Kalamunda hotel might be good for Monday with John Forrest national park, canning mills road. Zig zag etc. Just a thought. Did the purple gt-r have much difference to the lm spec? Hicas, a-lsd etc? Does it have the original coil overs? What are the main differences you have noticed on the lmspec?
