Got a FMIC a while ago and decided that I wanted to keep the standard airbox (It is the nature of the car and drivers to remain very low key). My cooler piping takes the standard route around the front of the engine above where the fan used to be (went thermo instead).
Something has to give, and I decided that it was going to be part of the air intake "snorkel". A mate of mine is very handy with all sorts of stuff, and I got him to fashion some thick plastic we use in our work to enclose the area that I ground away from the air intake.
The result is quite impressive and looks like it was made that way. Only trouble was that he finished in the dark, he sanded the finish and got a great result. It ended up with a couple of pinholes that I patched up, and these are the rough areas you can see in the pics.
ps He even gave it back to me with new foam seal made out of expansion joint stuff attached with spraytack (unsure of spelling).
