EOI: Turbo from RB25DET Series II
elbee111 replied to lukits01's topic in For Sale (Private Car Parts and Accessories)
I'm going to go on faith regarding condition and offer $450 COD to Eastern States 2541. Please advise. El Bee -
There are two ways of telling. First, you put both in and see whether it works. (This is how we did it because, like you, we didn't see where it showed the difference) Alternatively, you can see in the Jaycar parts list on page 2 it says that one is marked with a dot and the other is marked with a line. Gday all, My Son and I put together the boost controller and hand controller kits on Saturday night. I got a male to male 25 pin from DSE today and gave it a run. Prob 1: Got no display on screen. Found that adjusting the display brightness trimpot gave a display. Prob 2: The display consisted of one line of squares composed of dots. Found that we had swapped the position of the two pics in the Boost Controller kit. (Actually missed the fact when putting it together that these pics are programmed with two different hex files.) This may help someone later on. I now have the two kits doing what they should prior to connection to Input and Output. (We installed a boost guage as well on the weekend and so are getting close to ready). El Bee

Gday all, My future son-in-law has a Calais Turbo project underway and he needs a few things to finish off. Baby is already on the way and they have just gone into mortgage, so money has got tight and he just wants to get the car running from here on in. RB30 now has an RB25 head and therefore needs a stock RB25 turbo to fit RB25 manifold. Also stock cooler required (just to get him going). Thanks in advance. El Bee ps. He will also need an aftermarket ECU of some description but that may be another story eh ?

Intercooler Guard broken, safe to remove?
elbee111 replied to nmcmahon83's topic in Engines & Forced Induction
Removed ours about 2 years ago, as per a thread by rev210 to improve air flow around the stock cooler. Haven't had any probs with it. El Bee -
Craptastic Weird A$$ Indicator Spasticness
elbee111 replied to Messiah's topic in General Automotive Discussion
Messiah, I have the same problem. It has been this way for a year or two. It is something to do with the switch and/ or circuitry in the steering column. My suspicion is some sort of tracking or arcing do do with a wiper that is moved between contacts. Laziness and a she'll be right attitude means that it hasn't bothered me quite enough to do something about it. Yet. El Bee ps. Don't freak too much if you see wisps of smoke coming out of the steering column. Mine sometimes does this when the ticking has been going on for a long time. No joke. -
Or......... Follow the shape of the "D" cutout in the body. Angle the speakers so that the basket fits. It is tricky but it is possible and you don't have to remove stuff from the boot or metal. El Bee

Thanks SK, Will try and digest this further. You sound like a convert to this system (with some reservations?). Will keep watching at this point and trying to get the old head around the concepts. Enjoy! El Bee

Gday all, I am interested in giving one of these, or both a go at some time. I have not heard of them before as I gave up reading SC some time ago. (just got a bit boring) Presently have a bleed valve set to about 11 psi. This has been in the car for just over 2 years with no problems except for the dullard installing it the wrong way around at first. A few Qs. (I know that they look like statements, but I am just hoping that I understand what is being achieved here) 1. The upper limit of the boost is set by the stock restrictor in the line ? 2. Adjustment of the value of full boost is by drilling out the restrictor if you wish to increase this value ? 3. The 0-100% at the various load points refers to a percentage of "full boost" ? 4. The advantage over a bleed valve is that you can set your boost level compared to "full boost" at a specified level, when it comes on, and you can maintain "full" boost by setting these load points ? Interested in any feedback. El Bee

My future Son-in-law has embarked on the RB30/RB25DET combo with his Calais Turbo. He was after a job for $5000 to go well. After twice that amount it still isn't finished. Will post any info that may be relevant and watch this thread for ideas etc. El Bee

Hey funkymonkey, How are you going with this. I think I have said before that I would really like to know how many R33s were made in my colour code. This would require a means of interrogating the database based on this criterion. Will watch out for any movement in this area. All the best with it. Enjoy ! El Bee

Sounds like a few new lines to the Butterfingers song. They are QLD boys I think. Do You guys know the song ? El Bee

Yeah the 'Line under the bridge was just watching the weather with awe. Apparently it started looking pretty spooky. (And it was hailing in Nowra at the time). She saw you slow down as you went past. Thought snobby prick, car could have been blown up. :Bang: (Only joking - It is an RB afterall). No hail damage where you were I hope. The Kangaroo Valley Rd from Berry was closed for a day after the storm. OMG, this means that we have been spotted as well. (Has only taken just over 2 years). Let us know when you are around the area and will see if we can meet up for a chat etc. Enjoy ! El Bee & Humbla

My Missus reckons that she may have spotted you around Kiama. She was parked under a overhead bridge as it was about to piss down, and I rang and told her it was hailing in Nowra. Will have to put her under hypnosis to try and remember the shirt colour though. Enjoy Berry. El Bee & Humbla.

Well, I didn't know that these items were illegal. So this is like selling bongs in a tobacconist (you can buy/sell them but you cannot use them ?) Do the same rules apply to 19 inch wheels etc ? Obviously we all know about aftermarket BOVs and pod filters etc. Do you think that any insurance company is going to go hard on something like a turbo timer ? El Bee

lwells, I don't think SK said that but, even if he did, I think there are bigger wank factors going around. Anyway, I have the apexi pen type that was installed low right where you could not see the display and found that there was just enough cable to put it more to the centre of the car after lowering the steering wheel etc. The AFR's are now within sight. Another wank ?? ...... Perhaps. El Bee

What note belongs to Skylines ?
elbee111 replied to elbee111's topic in General Automotive Discussion
On a bit of a side note, my Wife has confessed that the best sound around our area is a Blue 300ZX with what looks like twin 4 inch pipes. This one sounds mean (and goes to boot). El Bee ps. I have been told that he works at Nowra Toyota. I'd like to think that this is true. -
Check Your L/h Inner Guard Intercooler Exit
elbee111 replied to colgf's topic in R Series (R30, R31, R32, R33, R34)
Ours has the slots. It is sitting in the garage if someone wants it. Took it off nearly 2 years ago (as suggested by rev210 for better cooling). The cooler gets the full air flow and I haven't seen any evidence of any probs with this. The cooler gets a wash when the car does once a week. My Wife travels on a dirt road once a week as well. Enjoy. El Bee
