  1. That's what I am talking about. I wish I had this gift but I don't. And I always had to tune my guitar using a tuner etc. Maybe this is why my Wife would cringe when I played stuff as it was always out of tune. (and I did play very badly as well I know) Enjoy ! El Bee
  2. funky seems to have had a lot of fun with people thinking his is turbo. I have the other side of the proverbial coin because it is a sedate looking factory green colour. (Like a Fagna) I had someone say "That's an R32 right?" He was close.... Then he said "I want one of those, but how much would it cost to get it turbo'd. I said it was too late for mine. It was done at the factory. El bee
  3. Steady mate. I was agreeing with you, but you would probably consider me an "old fart". We aren't all tarred with the same brush you know. Yes he certainly sounds like the epitome to me. I find it incredible that someone walking (let alone pushing a pram) on the road has the gall to say anything to a motorist doing what they are supposed to be doing on the road. El Bee
  4. I made a guitar tuner aeons ago from a kit that had a mic input. If I find it I will post results. If someone else has one feel free. Enjoy! El Bee
  5. Hey. Good to hear that some of you guys have your ears finely tuned. I am with gR33ddy about the wrx's but I do get confused when a VW beetle goes by. I understand that our cars make different notes in the various rev ranges, but I can appreciate that there is a distinctive note at "cruise"? A beautifull sound according to my Wife. Enjoy ! El Bee
  6. Hey slide, I can believe the Sportivo stuff for sure. It seems that every Sportivo driver is under the delusion that it is a "sports car". I mean it does have a powerfull V6 under the bonnet eh. Make way ! Sportivo coming through ! hahahhahahaahah El Bee
  7. Gday all. I have put this in "General Automotive" because it applies to cars in general but, I am pointing this discussion to Skylines in particular. A bit of background first. I think that I am fairly musical and have a fairly good ear for pitch etc. My Wife does not profess to be the same but, can do something that I can only dream of. What is it ? Well..... One day we were sitting at Shellharbour on the South Coast with our backs to the passing traffic and she said "there's an R33" and sure enough when we looked behind us there it was. We live very close to the Princes Hwy and have a constant stream of traffic to see (and listen to) and I am constantly amazed by her ability in this regard. I have been witness to this many times, including being able to pick R32/3, 300ZX and Silvia's etc as long as they have a decent exhaust. Does anyone else have this ability, or know of anyone else that is able to do this ? Referring to the title of this thread also......... What is the note of a Skyline ? By this, I mean is it "E", "A440", "B Sharp" (Joke for those musically inclined). Well. There it is. Any comments / feedback etc etc. El Bee ps. What about this for musical exhaust. Listen to *edit. Tried to add the F1 exhaust doing "When the Saints" but didn't work. I think most of you know the one I am talking about.*
  8. Just gotta say that this is a very common problem, and I wouldn't be surprised if it wasn't related to "hanky panky" with the odo reading between Jap and Aus. Mine played up on the way home from buying it at a yard in Sydney. When I fronted them they said that they would get it fixed no worries. I then said that, as I could not trust the odometer reading, they should do the 100K service stuff (timing belt etc) as well. No worries. Got it done at 67K according to the odo. Anyone who has bought from a yard and has this happen should do the same. I think you will find that they bend over backwards because of implications of "dodgyness". If you have imported it yourself, I don't think there is anyone to go to and you gotta fix it yourself (through wreckers etc). El Bee
  9. Sounds tempting. Am willing to travel from Nowra if they are as you say. Thinking $200 cash and carry. Give us a yell. El Bee
  10. I would go "A" first up. If there were overtaking opportunities I would go "C" and slow down to give him/her the hint to go for it. If I was driving my work bus I would go "D" and pull over because it will only do about 40 flat out. El Bee
  11. "im really fired up over this whole bullshit debate, a young guy crashes his import and all of a sudden left wing pinkos come out with these ideas" Sorry veilsider r33, You are giving the "Left Wing Pinkos" a bad name. The media and the Govt are doing the job well enough. (of demonising Skyline owners) El Bee (Left Wing Pinko)
  12. Again, I refuse to go down the current affairs show route. My sympathy goes out to those affected by this tragedy. Take care. El Bee
  13. Congrats to fade on an excellent guide. I didn't know about the existance of that putty but sounds like it is "the business". Sikaflex works but this sounds even better. Creating the proper seal is the key. I agree that the compliancer would be responsible to re-do the job. But you may as well make sure the job is done right yourself if you feel confident doing so. El Bee
  14. I posted a "How to" ages ago re this but could not find the original post. Anyway, the filler neck/adaptor is inserted and stuck in place for compliancing. This is for Aus standards to ensure that only unleaded can be put in it etc. This job can be done a little sloppy (as mine was) and will not hold pressure. The result is the fuel smell and the vapour haze you see in your drivers side mirror on hot days. You can use Sikaflex to glue it into position as per the pics. El Bee
  15. My Son did this to his R31 about 12 months ago. Apparently thare is a pipe at the back of the plenum and another at the front that he bypassed with a length of pipe and let the plenum etc drain. It has lasted 12 months as I say, but don't know if it will last forever (who knows?). He then went on to install a thermo fan and that seems to be functioning OK as well. ps I am not confident enough to do these to the R33. All the best. El Bee
  16. Our thoughts go out to those resting, and the families and friends involved. I urge everyone to please take care. The roads are a dangerous place. I know! as... 1. My mother was killed as a pedestrian, taken out by a collision of two cars at an intersection. 2. My youngest brother lost his leg on a motorbike, taken out by a motorist out of control. The Skyline is a beautiful and powerful motor vehicle and I won't be giving mine up but, let's enjoy a cruise and go to a track when you feel the need. My son is driving now, and I don't wish to think about the call where the Police have their caps in their hands. Take care.
  17. If you have an immobiliser that cuts your fuel, you can use this. Start the car with immobiliser on. When it dies there should not be much pressure in the fuel line. El Bee
  18. Gruesome stuff. Looks like his hand to me, still in the glove.
  19. Gday grepin, NSW club talking about a cruise to Kangaroo Valley around end of Nov. The run around the valley is fun anyway and only 15-20 mins from Nowra. Also should check out around Jervis Bay / Huskisson etc. Nice scenery. El Bee
  20. Lou / Velvets for the background music. Interesting choice.
  21. Carl, A quick (and I hope accurate) answer to Opel etc is that Holden, Opel and Vauxhall were basically the same car. They were developed in a joint venture basis and used the same parts with the exception of certain body panels so the local product had a look pleasing to their own markets. El Bee
  22. Hey Brendan, Hooray.......... from us as well. :burnout: For all of those who were concerned. No there was nothing wrong, Humbla (Genelle) just forgot to engage 1st gear before doing a fantastic launch. You have those kinda days don't you. :Paranoid: And yes those lights were kinda funny. Why do the top two lights go off and on like that? It's a little confusing when you are trying to concentrate on dragging to your heart's content. :bahaha: After that it was back to the 15s but she did have a "moment of clarity" where it was decided that more boost, split dump, less tyre pressure and a diff cradle may be required before the next run. :boinkcar:  Yes Adrian. In answer to your question she has caught "the bug". Enjoy ! Laurie & Genelle
  23. Yeah, thanks to Brett for organising this and here's hoping the WSID guys give us a little more slack next time ?? Definite newbie as this was first time on the track. Got in as a birthday present for the missus as she has loved the idea of giving it a go for a long time. Well...... after a while I said how about you move over and give the old man a go. We both had a ball today, 24 passes between us without raising a real sweat. Great fun and great value. We must do it again some time ! Laurie & Genelle
  24. Hey SmItLeR, What I call the indicator stalk, is the assembly that sits in the steering column and pokes out that allows you to signal your intentions to turn left and right. Am not sure if I need it for my problem, but worth a try if it is cheap enough. El Bee
  25. You still got the indcator stalk? If so, how much? El Bee
