Out of interest how much did you pay for your tomei LSD and did it change the final drive ratio at all?

Static camber (as in camber while stationary) is the angle of the wheel to the ground. For example zero camber gives complete and even contact of the tyre with the ground so that it isn't biased on any particular side of the tyre and hence gives more traction. People often talk up about negative camber so that it compensates for the turning forces in the car so that under heavy turning the car can be as close to zero camber as possible. Too much negative camber however and it will eat away at your tyres quicker than you can say F***, this is why most modded street cars go for about negative 1 degree of camber and race cars go for about negative 2-3 degrees. Sway bars bars also known as anti-roll bars help the weight transition when cornering. If the bars didnt exist, if you turned really quickly all the weight of the car would move very quickly to one particular side of the car. Upgrading sway bars makes the car much stiffer and puts more even loads on both sides of the car during fast cornering. Also the particular stiffness can affect whether the car understeers or oversteers by nature. This is dependant on the different stiffness of the rear and front sway bars.

Tiptronic selecting isnt that bad...

Wow these are kits you wouldn't want to go drifting in
-
Yes..... Lots of practice, shame there is no place in Perth where you can go to practice drifting. Besides your local side street of course.

Aren't LSD's really expensive? Is there anywhere you would recommend where I could buy one from or a particular brand I could source?
-
Yeah too true

Sounds good! I'll be up for it. Providing my car arrives on the date it's supposed to Would be nice to see drifting kick off in Perth and hopefully it can become a more regular event :headspin:

0-100 times R33 vs Ford typhoon and V8s etc
Baz replied to benl1981's topic in R Series (R30, R31, R32, R33, R34)
You also have to know the initial cost of a late model V8 as well. For a VU SS ute your still looking for about $30k anyway. I don't think an old Falcon EB XR8 with a few mods could blitz a Skyline GTS-T & GTR. -
Does anyone know how good the original R32 Skyline LSD is? Also does anyone know where you can buy adjustable swaybars for the R32?

In the course I did the instructor was in the car at all times and was able to say exactly what I was doing wrong when I made a mistake. The majority of the time I was was in the car with the other 2 people down there while we were carrying out the execises. Cost was only $250, which wasn't too bad but I wasn't complaining because my parents specifically wanted me to do it and payed for it as well. I'm sure many other parents would be more than happy to give some sort of help paying for something like that. About the no claim bonus apparently if you contact your insurance you possibly get some form of a discount but I havent really looked into it myself yet.

Last weekend I went for a Level Three Driving course at the DTEC at the Perth International Airport and would highly recommend it to any young drivers who just got there lisense or who have recently just bought a high performance car. It's actually quite amazing how hard it is to brake and stop at 50 km/h in a car without ABS in a straight line. After learning how to pulse brake and avoid locking up we moved onto braking in a straight line and steering to avoid cones. It's actually a lot harder than it looks (i managed to take out one of the three family members and cleaned up two other pedestrians on the sidewalk - hypothetically). Second time round i managed to take out the same family member - again but stopped correctly. Last time round I managed to brake and steer no worries. Was interesting to watch people from the sidelines. One girl there the same age as myself, tried to brake and turn at the same time and took out the whole family (three cones) due to the fact that you cant brake and turn at the same time. Second and third time round she managed to avoid with no worries at all. One thing that did suprise me though was that there was a 40 yo driver there with his daughter and he was the only one who managed to hit the cones when braking directly in front of the cones to stop and also hit more cones than anyone else when trying to avoid. After that we moved onto the skidpan where a slalom was set up and driving camry's with a device underneath the vehicle which was able to lower and heighten both the rear and front of the car up. First up was understeering (the boring stuff) where he heightened the front of the car up. After a short period we moved onto the oversteering by heightening the rear end of the car up (the fun stuff) and did that for a while. And I was quite surprised how pathetic I was at controlling the oversteer (mind you my car is still yet to arrive) and turned myself around many times. After that they talked for a while and we did some boring random stuff such as ABS and changing tyres etc. but besides from that it was a really benefical day out for my own driving skills. I would say it would be a good course for us younger people as we start to move into the High Peformance cars or for those that are looking for a bit of a touch up of driving skills. At a price of $250 for the full day and a lot cheaper for the half day courses it really isnt that much considering how much you learn that could one day stop you drilling into the back of someones car or turning your car around while you attempt to go sideways around a corner. Cheers,

Yeah that car spent a long time on the site before it was sold

Aren't Q series S13's considered imports anyway? If you want the power of an SR20 and don't mind the car being a FWD go and buy yourself a Nissan NX or something. That way you can have a relatively fast car, more reliable, cheaper to buy and insure and still be able to save money on tyres as well. Otherwise if those are still out of the price range listen to the wise words of the lots of people here who have voiced there opinons that have avoided or made the mistakes of misunderstanding the HUGE amount of money that is needed to run an import and that the money could be better spent elsewhere. Go with the bunky and then buy a better car when your better setup.

Do you still have the rear bar? Send me a PM if you do

A question, what makes the difference between a low mount exhaust manifold and a high mount manifold? Does it disapate heat easier? Does it allow more room to fit larger turbos in? Does it provide a shorter route? What is the main difference between the two?

Yeah i've bought my '89 R32 through a Perth company in early november and I am also still waiting on shipping from kawasaki to fremantle. It's really crap, makes it feel like you've ripped off really. Hopefully it will be on the Febuary Vessel.

Looking to buy a type-M rear bumper. Preferably looking for someone in WA with one but would consider shipping options as well. Please PM me if you do Cheers
-
What would be a better option? Using a Power FC to tune your car. Or the use of aftermarket options such as the AVCR boost controller, S-AFC 2 and remapped ecu's?

Is the kit for a 2 door or 4 door R32? -
Well I bought a car through Geoff at prestige motorsport in Perth getting shipped to fremantle in November and I'm still waiting for shipping. RORO ships are booked out for at least the next 3 months so i'm hoping my car will be on the next ship. Hopefully....... Damn its taking so long... Makes you feel like you've been stooged and that they've taken your money and ran off with it.

Baz replied to performance-wise's topic in Group Buys
If there is another group buy for the AVCR's and/or the SAFC in the next couple of weeks i'll definately be in for it. Please send PM if there is any go ahead with either. Cheers, -
Errr.... wont that do damage to the turbo considering there is now no way for the air between the turbo and throttle plate to rid itself, so in itself it can't relieve the air pressure and tries to exiting back through the turbo? Called turbo flutter i think?
