  2. Sounds like ure making a sandwich there Steve. I dont think its that easy. Plus once u get locked into a serious rebuild the tendency is to push it as far as it will go.
  3. Yer its a good solid car. More a highway cruiser though. When u lose traction the back end has a tendency to go a bit crazy. The low down torque of the 1jz is great for giving u that "rush" that u get when turbos come on. If you have the opportunity id get the Jza70 from late '92 as it was vvti and single turbo instead of twin and non vvti. The "r" is also good as u get the recaro seats and all that jazz, not all that different though. Dont get a targa the body flex makes the back end even more happy.

  7. I think they only came with one engine (rb30de). Make sure its not a pintara, they look similar. thats the 3.0ltr OHC straight 6 from the vl commo. Rollas are pretty subjective. The 4age is a solid little engine so if its been owned by a grandma it could be fine at 250,000 but if its been in japan and been given a hard life it might be near dead at 150,000. Jap ks are double our ks in my opinion. They drive shorter runs, harder. No long roads. get a compression test done to be sure.

  9. Id stay well away from the mazda if i were u. The electrics are shoddy as. Cant really fault the mechanics though. Buying a turbo over 15years old is always risky.
  10. Not true. They use some disclaimer like "while the highest level of care is taken we do not accept responsibilty for damaged incurred in the normal course of tuning on teh dyno" or something to that effect. otherwise some fewl brings in a near dead engine and wants a bunch of stuff on it and it tweaked to max, it blows and they have to fix and engine that was already daed but happend to blow on the dyno. Tough but thats how it goes.

  14. I always thought the major issue was to cool down the turbo so as to not leave hot oil sitting in it getting baked on and screwing the seals and what not. While this wont destroy it it will shorten the life. Plus its good to be able to be spirited right up to your door and be able to get out and walk away.

  16. Hyperdrive are as good as they come as far as im concerned. The two guys there have been in the game for a fair while now and are well respected. Havent heard anything bad about em yet.
  17. Alot of the aw-11s around are not in good nic. U have to get the supercharged one too or it pointless and as i said before, when the back end comes out there is not a damn thing u can do about it. Most of the roofs leak and alot of them are thrashed. Not a good cheap car. Oh and have u seen where the filter is!!!! madness. And ill second that the 7mgte, blows dick
  18. Werd Twincams rule, use sfa fuel, cost bugger all to maintain and insure. Gold first car. Oh and i know its just my opinion but dont buy an NA 'line, pointless excercise if u ask me. Better off getting a commo for alot less money.
  19. the higher u go, the sooner it blows 12 is pretty safe though as long as u got a fmic and safc and you dont go playing with the solenoid and spiking it. (THATS BAD)

  24. I find there is usually a way to have the front end of the car hanging over the steep part of the driveway as most of them have a flat part and a ramp part. Put ure wheel just over the crest and then reverse it to get to the other half. Make sure u chock the wheels so u dont get squashed though. Just in case ure park brake fails by some evil magics.
  25. Getting grease off is a real pain in teh butt, the high pressure hose things dont really cut it. Best off getting a scrubbing brush some degreaser (good stuff) and going nuts.
