  1. "hr31gt" is taken a friend of mine has that how bout nsm03l on those euro plates, the symbol would look like an "i" aaah31
  2. from memory i memba my old man telling me one of his mates did this to his car back in the day... they used a capacitor so it charges up and lets it out in a burst... worked pretty good he said...
  3. yer could be the battery... maybe its not taking full charge on its way out like ben l said check the voltage directly from the battery... i member my wagon used to cut the amps out then the radio when it was low so yeh id pinpoint it on the battery... do you drive the car alot or only once a week or so??? had any recent electrical mods that may be drawing more power and possibly drawing power when your car is off??? wen i bought my other car it hadnt been started in two weeks or so and the alarm drained the charge... usually once the battery has been drained real slowly you can kiss the battery goodbye its not worth the inconvenience
  4. also this was raised on the r31skylineclub forum something about the chasis twisting or the roof twisting coz of no b pillar or something like that... make sure u check that out before you buy
  5. mods??? ive seen some go for about 4 grand right up to 10-11 grand... it depends on the condition... any rust check on front quarter panel down very bottom under indicators... ks? straight body? interrior?? im pretty sure all the passages came out with automatic transmission coz they were the luxury type model... and the rb20 is the same as the hr31 coupes not sure wether nics or eccs always get mixed up with the two
  6. different strokes for different folks i guess... who knows? the company that wrote this article may be "anti nissan" or push another brand of car ie get paid heaps of money from holden to talk up their cars and cover bag the rest out... i read in one of these pro holden magazines that the xr6T get like 18-20L/100km and the xr8 gets like 24L/100Km while their new 6 litre shitbox gets 12L/100k... pro ford magazines will tell you the opposite... (cant tell im a ford man lol) so yeh see what cars they talk up and see what cars they are advertising in big letters on every page... there might be some relationship its all about money
  7. aah ok thanks for clearing it up chris.. ill have another chat with him on monday... so the fosgate stuff is still made in the states... good thats pretty much all i was worried about
  8. i was speaking to a mate that owns a car audio shop and said that a rep told him that rockford fosgate might be or already has sold the company to a japanese company meaning that the quality will drop dramatically but the price will also be affected... he warned me to stay away from all their new stuff as its made in japan and not as good as their old american stuff... dont take this seriously im just relaying what i heard, if anyone in the know could shed some light on this for me... im thinking of buying another two more rockford amps and might stick to the old stuff instead of the new stuff
  9. hey just a quick question why does my r34 shifter have two threads down it i think its m10x1.25 and maybe m12 x something but both threads are pretty fine... why two treads though i only need the smaller one i might put it on the lathe at work and turn it down this is more just a query than a problem
  10. hi do you mean the writing above the arrows?? it says something to do with the idle adjust... the symbols on each side are higher and lower im guessing but i dont no which is which
  11. fark they r paying 94 yen per litre... in 1998!!! thats like a dollar fity maybe more not sure wat the current conversion rate is... no wonder they palm off all their cars to us lol
  12. hi, might be the aircond pump on its way out a bearing may be ceasing up and somehow slowing the engine... does your aircond still work??? are you sure its only when your aircond pump is running??? id take the belt off the aircond pump and spin it freely... if its crunchy it would prolly be a bearing or sumthing... if it does it on idle see if you can locate where its coming from even if you have the car idleing and rev the engine by hand but thats me thinking out aloud could be something else
  13. it needs to be a "dry cell" battery and i know its called priority charge so your main battery gets most of the charge or sumthing on that... dont hold me for how the priority chrge works but i know its called a dry cell and you need it on a proirity charge a dry cell means something like they dont carry water in em they work of some other way which means no battery acid leaking into your boot
  14. i read a write up on a silvia running a rb26dett probably seen it but it was running at 26psi through one of those puppies i wasn't going to upgrade my cooler to a front mount coz i got a autospoiler (r31) and the size i would fit in there wouldnt be worth it but i think ill throw one of those arc smic ones on
  15. hi i dont think its blowby as there is oil in the intake side... and with blowby there wouldnt be oil in the intake side as it only suck through the zorst port.. thanks cubes for your input thats pretty logical thinking come to think of it the someone flipped their car they would turn it off climb out and wait for the cops, towies ect by the time they turned the car around it would be a good hour im gonna get it rebuilt by a person who knows wat they are doing thanks Rick
  16. the reason ive done this conversion is to do something different to a r31 wagon and opening the bonnet and seeing what people say when they see the neo turbo cover wow!!! i know people on this site would see it and go oh yeh thats a neo but you gota help ppl out if they know nothing out about skyline motors
  17. and if it has "blowby" how much is that is that to repair??? just a head gasket???
  18. ok so if it isnt the turbo and it was this "blowby"... how can i tell if the engine is any good any quick test i can do.. how much would this cost to fix... and can someone explain blow by just to give me an understanding the motor is still under warranty but since then ive cleaned it right up and looks like a different motor so it would be a shame to see it go also... there was no oil through the intake piping (by memory will check 2nite) the dump pipe and zorst manifold were full of a oily soot dont know if that is normal though... the motor was bought and seen running (not by me) and the ppl i bought it from werent average joes, they have a pretty good sense of what they would buy...
  19. done a search and nothing... story goes... ive picked up a rb25neodet but the turbo is full of oil as was the intercooler... ppl told me the car had rolled and engine oil had gone to the turbo and to the intercooler ok but i dont like the look of all that oil sitting in the turbo when the time comes to run the car it will prolly blow a shitload of smoke and any remaining oil will burn and leave a film of carbon through the turbo and exhaust... my questions are these: 1. how hard is it to pull apart a turbo i have access to an engineering shop (lathes and mills) wide range of hand tools (no surface/cylindrical grinders) 2. can you get a manual specifically on the turbo all the torque settings/ tolerances ect ect 3. whats involved in reconditioning it 4. i understand they use ball bearings because roller bearing give a up and down shaft play... what if i found a sutiable tapered roller bearing assembly??? thinking out loud they allow for minimal up and down aswell as in/out play if installed correctly 5. where can i pick up parts to do this myself i would also like to change the stock ceramic wheel to a steel one incase down the track i decide to wind the boost up and losing a exhaust wheel into the cat p.s. its a stock rb25detneo turbo if that makes any difference, says nissan on the intake side thanks fellas Rick
  20. hi obviously there was a negative wire that ran from the fuel pump... try connecting it to that instead of straight to the car just thinking out loud might work might not but good luck anyway
  21. hey theres a good set at sss automotive in giraween they've been there for about a week now its from the halfcut i got my engine out of no idea on price but yer they r in sydney and not sure if they will post em
  22. pretty simple im after the turbo plastic that fits on the rb25det neo looks like this
  23. yer thanks dude mine looks nothing like that so ill hafta start chasing one up thanks for that i couldnt find any pics on the net
  24. hi i recently bought a rb25det neo motor that came with a plastic cover but does not fit... the brackets which are on the motor line up with everything else ie intake pipe and some bolt holes near the plenum chamber but the cover seems a little small and does not seem to fit right... only one bolt lines up (the front left one looking from the front) but the others have no chance of fitting... also the cut out around the traction control is way too small to fit over it and there are a few other misallignments... on the cover it says "neo straight 6" in red and down the side it says "2500 twin cam" it does not say anything about turbo just wondering if this is the right cover or this is off a n/a rb25de neo thanks
  25. i have the original rb25det neo cover but it was only holding on by one bolt when it came over here so someone in japan has my bracket
