Space Goat replied to drftnfrysi's topic in For Sale (Private Car Parts and Accessories)
pmed re rb26 plenum and tbs pics please -
any other symptoms??? misfiring... check out your spark plugs too (stupid to say i guess coz you take em out when you comp test anyway) if theyre fouled or very clean how long since the rebuild
-
hi... i have a outlet pipe coming out of my plenum that doesn't have a home and i dont want to leave it open... the hosetail would only fit maybe 4mm inside diameter hose so i think it might be for cruise control or something... it comes out next to where the brake vacuum hose comes out of at first i thought it was for the purge line for the charcol canister but when consulting the manual discovered that the purge line was elsewhere... i have all the other lines covered co it cant go back to the motor... the engine runs without anything on there but i cant imagine it doing any good to the fuel mixtures n all anyone know what its for... just plug it up??? oh its a rb25det neo if that matters thanks
-
nar its a brand spanker radiator and when i got the motor off i took off the water pump and flushed the galleries... yeh JDFNG im praying for the headgasket if its not the oil cooler... the turbo isnt water and oil cooled is it???
-
hi... im in the middle of doing a r34 rb25det and come across bad news... i ran the motor up in the car for about twenty five minutes... after about 15 mins when it got nice and warm it started coughing out white smoke... i kept running the motor as i was told the turbo was "smokey" coz the car i got it out of had been rolled over...it kept up the coughing for another ten minutes then i turned it off... as soon as i turned it off i checked the motors vitals... the oil... no problem... but the water was oily, not emulsified but you could see little bubbles floating around and it felt oily between my fingers... anyone has this before... ive been told that they are known to crack blocks so thats my main concern... ive taken the oil cooler off and will send it away to get pressure tested in the new year... i will also run it with fresh water and the oil cooler bypassed... if not its off with the head after a pressure test... should the block be cracked in goes a rb30det neo... that sorta rolls off the tongue doesnt it just wondering if anyone knew any other small things to check before i commit to pulling off the head thanks in advance and ave a gud x mas

thanks for all your input... i was talking to a workmate last night about it at the chrissy party an he said that the new england was really rough... is that fixed up now or you still have to dodge potholes and what not??? i dont really care what the view is i just want to get up there... ill look into that buckets/thunderbolts today whereis saysy its about 10 ks more inland so the only thing im worried bout is bottlenecks or an acco

what will happen after a few years if the spray putty starts cracking??? the putty will expand and contract in the heat/cold at a different rate to the metal... i would have thought panel beating everything or tig welding new flat panels in so that bog is kept to a minimum... thats how i work anyway
-
if your doing it up nicely you can scrape away the seam sealer they use... on my r31 they apply it really thick and wavey... i scraped it off and smeared sikaflex on with my finger to get it smooth... then i primed/painted straight over it once it dried... also make sure you get right down the gearbox tunnel... and try to remove any brackets that can be removed... are you turboing this project car??? have you got any aftermarket parts fitted in the engine bay... you would want to weld/drill anything in the engine bay for aftermarket parts ect. before you paint... would hate to see a nice scratch coz u slipped with the drill

General Rb25det Life Expectancy... 10char Rolf Lol +10!
Space Goat replied to RedEmblem's topic in General Maintenance
it depends how you drive it... if you take care of it she'll last you forever... keep the boost low and dont thrash the shit out of it and it should last you... there would be alot more involved in regards to maintenance but aslong as you keep an eye on all parts of the motor you should be fine... after all what things need the car to run ? compression, spark and fuel/air... come round to your 100k service id be doing a leagakge test and if you can get on of those bore microscopes to have a look at the condition... change the spark plugs (of course) and maybe get your injectors cleaned out while your doing it... if you dont have any trick hardware on you computer i'd be resetting it to kil any gremilns hiding in your electric system -
in wiring my rb25 up it says i need a capacitor to go after the wires that goes to the spark plugs from the ignition relay... it goes through the capacitor and then bleeds to earth... if anyone knows what im talking about, what size capacitor do i need or is it hard wired in the loom and i dont have to worry about it thanks in advance

R32 Brake Master Cylinder Help!
Space Goat replied to DREW32's topic in Suspension, braking, tyres and drivetrain
i wouldnt want to be mucking around with something as crucial on your car as brakes... you can pick up a second hand one for less that 2 hundred bucks but theres nothing to say that that will go aswell... id be looking at spending the 200 bucks and not worrying about it leaking for another 10 years -
thanks for that ill do that... does anyone know where i could find a electrical diagram for the actual computer or tell me what the diode # D620 connects directly to
-
yeh wheezy i didnt *gets in line for somebody to shoot me in the head* oh well ive found another computer... ill make sure that i put a relay through for sure now... what size relay do i ask for when i get it??? 10 amp???
-
hi... im in the middle of wiring up my car and i screwed up... its a rb25det neo... i went to start the car... fuel pump charged up, starter motor cranked... and cranking and cranking... but no start... ive checked my spark and my injector wiring and its all correct... i then went to the computer and it smelt like the smell you dont like to smell near electrics... i opened it up and i found a diode or resistor to be had it... ive got another computer on the way but i want to know what caused it to let go... the number of the diode/resistor on the computer chip is D620... could anybody tell me what that diode is... or where can i get an electric diagram of the actual computer... if i worked out what pin fed this diode i could work out where i went wrong by using the ecu pinout... i cannot follow it back on the card because the card is multi layered or something like that.... thanks for your help
-
aah ok then... so do they go straight to the battery or do they go through an accessories wire
-
all my injectors are wired up already... huh??? the fuse would go in the 12volt constant wire hey... my relays loop back into the computer so ill have have another look... for that... theres bugger all wires coming from the existing loom in the r31 only about 8 or so wires going out not including the auto trams plug... i hope i dont have to make new wires everywhere
-
hi ive decided to give wiring my car up a go... it wont hurt... its a rb25det neo going into a r31... from the existing loom out of the r31 ive matched up all the wires that go from the computer to the rest of the car using a r34 pinout and other literature... but there a few plugs bugging me and need some stuff cleared up there are two plugs almost identical to each other in the engine bay which dont go anywhere... they are black with about 12 or so pins each and they have some sort of grease in each terminal... do these go to each headlight as there is one on each side of the car... im guessing all of the accesory wiring is done through the computer aswell like the headlights ect... the motor will still run without these plugged in wont it??? or is the headlight, defogger ect wires that go to the computer just signals to tell the motor to pick up the revs or something, sorta like the air cond... i couldnt imagine a defogger making that much of a drain on the motor... in that case i have about 1000wrms of amplifiers in the boot which would draw more power than all the other electrics in the car put together... also what precautions should i take when first cranking the motor over... i dont have fuel to it yet i just want it to crank... is there a way i can prime the head before it cranks or i shouldnt worry about it just as long as it has oil in it... i turn the motor every now and then ive owned it for about 5 months but i dont think its affected the motor as you can sometimes get motors sitting in wreckers for longer than that??? oh and if someone could post up a close up of their battery from a r34 so i can organise which plugs go which terminals i would greatly appreciate it... its a bit of a shit fight there thanks for any help
