  2. Bringing this thread back ontrack for a moment... Do they need a positive yes or no by a certain date, Is it still on (our team)? Who is committed and who is a maybe? *raises hand* Im certainly an IN Just got back from Donnellans... got a set of 2x 2nd hand Continental Contact Sport 2's... $55 each.. bargain woo hoo
  3. Local tyrepower had a set of dunlop SP9000's in 245/35/18's, 2nd hand for $50 each.. they're WELL above the indicators, so im really stoked @ that.... Ferni is going to give me his old 265/35/18's for the rear so that should be good also. However if anyone has a line on some road tyres in 275/35/18 that are also pretty good, lemme know, as I go through them pretty easily so having them at home in the shed (got 12 acres in officer) is no big deal North west tyres in reservior did not have anything worth spending any $$ on.... So is this still a go'er? Who and by when do we need to pay?
  4. I think its just the juniors to which that was applicable .. Ferni looked into it I think....
  5. http://www.ukintpress.com/engineoftheyear/...ers/winner.html Dont know what drugs Subaru are on... “A masterclass in exhilarating power, sound, response and brilliant packaging that comes as standard,” says Japan-based journalist Peter Nunn. “Let’s celebrate advanced materials, mechanicals – and machismo,” encourages Dennis Simanaitis of Road & Track. The engine the two judges speak of is the Munich marvel that is the BMW 5-litre V10 – the International Engine of the Year 2006.
  6. Thanks for the advice .... We'll give them two goings over just to make sure, I was also warned to make sure we dont get alpine tyres...
  7. I gave northwest a ring.. they said "yea we should have something.. come down.. $200 each".. im going to try and beat them down a bit if they have something..... cash price for 2 sets and all that
  8. Hey Geoff, DBA/RDA dont make any discs for the M5.. or their catalogues dont say they do.... I am going to ring around, but we'll see what I can find... BMW should be able to help somewhat with their pads, but I think the Ferrodo DS2500's would be appropriate for this sort of application I have asked the MRS permission to join this event .... Andrew and I are heading out to teh 2nd hand tyre places in Reserviour tomorrow to see what we can find the way of rubber Cheers, Aaron
  9. Prerequisite for L2SJ Licence Holders. As a prerequisite, all 2SJ licence holders MUST have competed at the Phillip Island Grand Prix Circuit in some form of competition, within the past 12 months and will be required to participate in an observed practice session during practice for this event. Proof of prior participation in an event at Phillip Island must be presented at documentation. (A set of results, or notations in activity section of licence, which must have been signed off by a senior official of that meeting, will be accepted). Whats the standard CAMS license that we have L2S I think aint it?.... Whats an 2SJ license?
  10. Not wanting to waste time in this thread too much.. but for those who might be vaguely interested... I got prices from BMW Front Discs are $595.27ea (rrp: 751.61) Front Pads are $322.85ea (rrp: $431.62) all prices are + 10% GST Does anyone have a line on a set of 2nd hand tyres that I could buy in 275/38/18 (9.5" rear) and 245/45/18 (8" front) I really want to come just need to work out the costs and whether I tell the MRS or not
  11. Thanks for that guys... it is certainly going to be a busy / fascinating time. I am still keen on the relay however, I have put in an email to a mate @ Doncaster BMW to try and get prices on pads and discs. In the USA the pads they use are Axxis Ultimates which are made by Bendix here in OZ, so I am guessing that they are just the Bendix Ultimates that we can buy. should not be too expensive. The killer will be the discs.. .as I dont think I can readily get (in the time frame required) replacement aftermarket discs should I need them. Doncaster can get them from Germany VOR (Vehicle Off Road) in about a week but then they hit you with the price.... I would not be suprised if they are about $900 each for the fronts.... but then again they are 345x32mm discs.
  12. Im certainly thinking about it... I just have to do the sums for the tyres, pads, discs etc because as you can imagine ... nothing BMW is cheap and especially from BMW-M. The rear dunlop 8080E's that I have (275/35/18) are already at about 1/2... damm that right foot , so I'm currently looking around for a set of tyres that I could use, and getting prices on replacement pads and discs We have a littleun due on the 31st of October so I dont want to spread the $$ too thin because as I am rapidly finding out, NOTHING baby related is cheap *sigh*
  13. Sounds like it would be a load of fun... The M5 should be able to withstand that... I've seen videos of the M5 tracking around phillip island for a whole day in the hands of journalists without cooking anything (other than tyres of course)
  14. Does look like the M5 tyres did fall off a bit, but its not bad considering the size of the car. It held out nicely..... but then again I am biased
  15. Some Photos I took of the day. Ferrari mowing the lawn.
  16. Does anyone have the scruitieneering (sp?) reqs handy? the link does not seem to work.. just takes me back to the forum homepage. is it just basic RWC, no extuingishers and steel valve caps etc? as if so I need to get my ass into gear and visit autobarn
  17. Is there a place to dump some stuff from the car while we're out on the day? I'll bring up my toolbox just in case anyone needs anything and a bag etc?
  18. That should have read Bond... James Bond Cyas all there. Can't wait. Is there anything planned for friday night?
  19. My car is with BMW until friday evening, so nothing like leaving things until the last minute I probably wont pick it up until say 6pm or so. *Rings park...* Right .. done .. booked for friday night. So when you see a red M5, don't be a stranger
  20. The car's not, No.., the parts are covered by BMW's spare parts warranty, but thats it. Yeah I guess 2 days would be enough, its just that the M5 clutches are not the strongest things on the face of the planet, and dont take too kindly to abuse, its all very well and good to say take it easy, but once the adrenalin starts to flow *presses DSC and SPORT buttons*, all bets are off . Cheers, Aaron
  21. Hey guys, Quick question... I've got my car booked into Doncaster BMW to get the clutch replaced on the Wednesday -> Thursday the 23rd / 24th. When I had the clutch replaced on my old car I was told to go easy on it for the first 1500 or so kms. From those that have been to DECA before... am I playing with fire taking my car with such a new clutch? The clutch was $1k and $500 to install it, so its not something that I want to mess with, but on the other hand, I have heard its an absolute hoot. Cheers, Aaron
  22. Great cruise .. had a ball. The M5 loved it also *turns DSC off and SPORT on*
  23. When I wrote that I was guessing because I was too lazy to look it up.. i have subsequently looked it up and its actually VF33 and VF32 .. sorry for any confusion
  24. Plate is included yes... fits the car Cheers, Aaron
