  1. yep...trent i agree with djr81 once the engine is out all sorts of things to consider. if you keep a good close eye on oil levels(overfull) , then you should not have a problem, except maybe some breathing depending on mods. keep a good eye on engine oil temp and coolant temp though!!
  2. hi mate i have used ones similar to the nagisa auto ones and they were perfect, never let me down i have seen dog bone ones like the midori's fail before. i loe the nagisa stuff never seen them used but narly bought some for myself cheers russ

    Dry Sumps

we never went with a shutdown setup, as we were worried about getting into trouble when the engine shutdown mid corner or when you are absolutely commited. i think a warning light is a good idea or maybe going into a limp mode so it warns you but total shutdown might be scary at say 200 plus kays an hour or mid corner eastern creek turn 1, or last turn onto oran park straight!
  4. 260det if you can get me a set of semi slick tyres to suit my car, i will be more than happy to buy them off you & will even pay you hansomely for your efforts!
  5. yeah... i heard they started from marking jet sprint boat seats. also if your not after FIA approved seats, i think racetech do cheaper seats to suit the jet sprint boats which are they same without approval.
  6. yeah ... have to go to aftermarket wheel . matty... the seats i got from racer industries www.racerindustries.com , they are great really comfortable & high sides so you wont move around, they were abount 2k each from memory maybe just under
  7. it should be a rocket Ben! sounds great about the notes, i am happy to use your 32 if we can, thanks for the offer mate i do have a road r32 but need to put the alternator back on it, only about a half hours work . it's a beautiful car, i have only driven it about 500 kays in four years, rebuilt the engine too so could do with a run in! i will speak to ya soon so we can talk about meeting up, i have been sick for 4 days , not at work & it's driving me mad.
  8. just remember thats my handbrake ...Ben!! lol
  9. yeah...Andrew it's the MCR one. apparently looks like really good quality gear should have it friday so will post some pics.
  10. dunc , nope i have no rally experience so big learning curve, ben will have to keep me in check i have done about 15 years as a mechanic for an ARC team but not as driver. no we dont have tyres sorted, we will be running on the tyres i used at superlap! they are half f#@ked! i also have a spare set of the bridgestones runflats if needed. we will definately struggle for tyres but will still be a good learning curve and shake down for next year. the cage is done by competition fabrications at redcliff , fellow by the name of Dave Feron , he is bloody good, i am amazed he did it so quick for me , normally about a 3 month wait( he did it in 5 days)
  11. dunc i have done f#@kall on the r34 , mark is a machine when he put his mind to it. about the most i did was pull all the vinyl crap off the carbon boot , took about 6 hours! still got the bonnet to do:( for some reason the japs had decided to vinyl sticker the body panels on the Tomei drag car instead of painting them.
  12. i like your style stuart, i would sleep in my shed if i could! as long as you make sure the chev can rev!
  13. no more news! mark has just finished moving house and i pushed my r35 in front for him to prepare for rally tas! so his machine gets to sit for awhile which he is not happy about. so this is the r34 to date
  14. hey guys just a few quick picks started preparing the the r35 for some rally work, managed to get the cage done in absolute record time and top job too!! things that need to be done are: roll cage, seats, harnesses, fire system, kill switch, new brake pads / fluid / rotors , wheel alignment, intercom, helmet net, rally rego, log book, etc etc. also got the paddle shifter modto move with the steering wheel, thanks beerman!!! and five weeks to do it in! will keep you posted

    Dry Sumps

i was looking at a new fujitsu series car on the weekend and it was running a fancy oil to water heat exchanger which looked like a great setup!! for those who do not already know, you will never guess where the dry sump resevoir is!!!! in the transmission bellhousing !!
  16. well done mate ..again!! must be one hell of a ride

    Dry Sumps

hi steve our dry sump resevoir is only 7 litres , so your should be fine mate. for oil changes we normally just normally let gravity do it's thing, but you can remove a line or two if you think oil is sitting in them, you wont have to worry to much anymore after the dry sump mate, no more metal in the oil no more issures! we just had a look at our bottom end bearings after a year of racing and they are like brand new, we left them in there!! as far oil cooler goes i will have to come back to you, this is important and very important to control oil temp properly, make sure you oil doesnt see more than about 110 . ours doesnt see anymore than 90 degree's. cheers russ
  18. ........with me!!! yes Ben has agreed to navigate for me in Rally Burnie in 5 weeks !! I can't wait , hopefully we will have a ball, and it will be great to have Ben's experience there. lots to do though, weld in cage , seats, harnesses, intercom, floor plates, fire bomb, wheel alignment , brakes, tyres, log book and rally rego and more in 5 weeks! oh yes and learn to listen to pace notes. hmmm where to start cheers russ
  19. yes... boys Ann knows where it's at!!
  20. i think the fastest all time sports sedan in australia was a 300zx ( highly modded but still a 300zx)
  21. one of the most basic mods of all but probably the hardest one to get done correctly would be a good track wheel alignment, which needs to be very different from a street alignment, reasonably cheap mod too, if this is wrong it can effect your lap times by many seconds
  22. Looking great Daz !! should be ready to rumble real soon
  23. hey ben , what are the major changes? i am new to all the rules so i have no idea, and just learning now! i think if i enter i will be in the M1 modern catorgory, cheers russ
  24. hey stuart are you doing much with the 2000 tasmanian tarmac challenge?? cheers russ
