^^^^ exactly hey it could have been worse i could have not bought this car while i was on my l's and had no experience in it what so ever, got it on my 18th birthday, got in it as a new p'plater and have no idea what im doing. its a bit like the whole curfew idea for p-platers..... its stupid because if they dont get the opertunity to drive late at night while they are on thier p's then they will be just as inexperienced when they turn 21 and get thier opens, its not like you turn 21 and wake up with new skills and experience lol thats also why i dont agree with power to weight restrictions, because i know plenty of people who are on thier opens who are too inmature and irrisponsible to be behind the wheel of a powerful car. anyways people i didnt really intend for this thread to turn into a learner driver, insurance, and power to weight restriction topic, it was more a thread to intorduce myself and show my car. so if any mods are reading this then i think it may be a good idea to lock this thread cheers thanks everyone! hope to see you round, give me a wave if you see me driving around. -Ruffels

ohk guys, i can see this is getting quite heated, the matter of fact is that sure everyone has done stupid things, and im sure people will continue to do stupid things, coz we all know internet threads doesnt change a thing lol. but for the time being im going to keep my car , and im going to go forward onto my p's with a safe, positive perspective on driving. i think thats about all i can do for now, and allthough alot of you think its wrong, and that i shouldnt have my car, i'm going to enjoy it, enjoy driving it and even washing it every week end that i do coz its my pride and joy and i really don't want to sell it. so thanks for everyone who has posted, i hope no one was affended, especially you starionturbo, if you though i was flaming you or having a go at you and i hope t see you all out and about, and posibly at some cruises and meets in the future -Ruffels

well said Rylan, i also belive that driving is alot about attitude, although i am still on my L's i have driven countless amounts of hours in countless amounts of cars, with lots of different suppervising drivers in every different variable that there is for weather from snow, black ice roads, fog, wind, rain, dark, endurance driving, you name it. trying to keep my self from sounding like a dick and being c0cky, i truely belive im a good driver and that i have the skill to drive a high performance vechicle (as i do and have done every single day for the last 2 months) with out any hassle in that department, yet i still admit i have alot more to learn, but dont we all, you never stop learning. anyways that leads me to atitude, i bought my car because yes i do like acceleration, i like a car that can handle well especially at high speeds, and i like a car that has a fair bit of grunt and power, allthough i have wittnesed first hand what abusing this can do as ive seen from family and friends who have come out of situations slightly less lucky then most. im a strong believer of the "theres a time and a place" theory, and also im not prepaired to potentially waste something i have drained my blood, sweat and tears into over the last 3-4 years just to show off to my mates, or anyone for that fact, so starioturbo, i resent your comment about my parents being irresponsible. i have no need to drive fast one the roads anyways, i'd like to keep my life and lisence (when i get it) thank you very much i never put my self in a position where i need to speed because i make sure im never late in the first place, i value my safety over not being late anyhow. and i do know that i dont have to prove to you that im worthy or even if its appropiate for me to have this car, but thats because i dont really care what you think sorry mate, allthough i thought i'd provide some light justification anyway im also glad my thread turned into a mess about insurance, power to weight ratios, and morals. *rolls eyes* just like to add that one of my main points of view on this is inforced by the fact that i have been a part of the car enthusiests scene (other car related sites as both members and moderators)for many years, and i am discusted everytime i see a hoon documentery on today tongiht, and generalisations made by the wider public about our hobbies and interests. and i certainly wouldnt do anything to decrease our allready low standing within the community, as i am told every skyline and his dog is a hoon anyways i think this will be enough. anyone that wants 5 mins of thier life back from reading thism just e-mail me and i'll send you the monetry equivalent in the mail seeya -n00b (aka Ruffels)

r33 gts-t , rb25 head
Ruffels replied to NoBle_BuM's topic in For Sale (Private Car Parts and Accessories)
this might be a stupid question mate, but youve been selling lots of parts, so i thought i might at least try, ... you dont happen to have a boost solenoid off a series 1 do you? cheers -Ruffels -
^^^^ yeah true that, i meants stock as in engine wise, but yeah your right... thanks -Ruffels
-
thanks krzysiu, yeah i know what you mean i live in a suburb where the police arnt as tight about this sort of thing then most places, and i havent been pulled voer yet either (l-plates might have something to do with it ) but yeah i dont want to have to sell it in 6 months time when i get my p's also when i rang vicroads the lady said alot of it is upto the police's discretion but there are no demerit points lost for driving a high powered car only a "heafty fine" as she stated
-
i just rang vic roads and they said that they dont have an updated list of restricted cars and that the car has to be under 3.5L per tonne and under 125KW per tone she said i should contact the vichcle manufacturer hmmm once again, vic roads dont have a clue
-
well its prctically stock, but has a pod filter and bleed valve running 10psi however i tihnk i'll be removing the bleed valve soon and replacing it with the standard boost solenoid. so it will just have a pod -Ruffels so im asuming its running a bit over 190kw at the fly
-
hmmm but technically my car is over the power to weight limit when its stock as a rock, so why would they give me insurance when they wont cover me? and also i rang vicroads and spoke to some people in the safety department about power to weight limits and i was told that i should contact nissan or do some research on the internet to find out whether or not the car is over the limit. so in other words, vicroads didnt have a clue whether it was over or not. so i could just say in rebutle to that, that i just did some research on the internet and found it was not over the power to weight limit lol i know thats not a feasable answer or comeback, but if vicroas cant even tell me if im allowed to drive it or not, then why should i get penalised lol anyways in the mean time, im going to enjoy my car, and i'll wit for that time or situation to arrise before i worry about it, you only live once -Ruffels
-
hey guys, thanks for the comments, yeah it is over the power to weight ratio limit, i investigated taking off the gtr badge, but it has been melted onto the gril and if remove it, the grill will be all broken and look crap, so i tihnk i'll leave it on til i pick up a new grill to replace it with. im 17 and ahalf today so i have 6 months left til i can go for my P's bought the car bout 3 weeks ago for $18k... :s i dont know if that was too expensive, however it is in imaculate condition. i dont drive it enough on my L's to warrent full comp, so im currently only on 3rd party, and just cars have organised for me to start on rating 5 at $2900 a year when i get my p's in november. i know it isnt legal for me to drive, so i will probably keep mods to a minumum, but i know alot of people on thier p's who drive skylines and get away with it.... so im hoping i will to also just like to say i support safe driving, i bought my skyline because i love them and the engineering behind them, not coz i want a really fast car. and as soon as i get my lisence i'll be doing some driving cources to get used to my car properly and know its limits. thanks guys -Ruffels

Hey guys, im new to skylines and this site and i must say.... I Love the site!... its so useful for tutorials and help from other members, i also must say from what ive seen so far the members here are much more friendlier then most forums ive been on before. anyways..... im 17 still on my L's ....and i just purchased an R33 GTS-T S1 (no daddy didnt pay for it, i saved long and hard since i was 14) anyways just thought i'd introduce myself, im Mark i was at autosalon on saturday and i had a good chat with 2 top blokes, sorry i cant remember your names guys, but i recall one of your user names was "letmedrive" or something similar, anyways they helped me out alot and gave me some good suggestions as to what i can do with my car:) cheers guys im looking forward to getting my P's and coming on some cruises to meet some more people and learn more about my car as im still relitivly a n00b anyways i think ive said enough, so i'll leave you with some pics of my car -Ruffels

Surprised by "Shannons", insuring under 25's now
Ruffels replied to SS8_Gohan's topic in General Automotive Discussion
hmmm well im on my L's insuring a 33 3rd party for $670 with just cars for the 6 months i'll be insuring it for on 3rd party on my L's they said when i get my p's (6 months time) they will start me on rating 5 for comprehensive for $2900 with fill kit, suspension upgrades,$2k stereo $1800 wheels and a few other bits and pieces ... thats alot better then the $3700 quote i got for rating 6 so jsut by having insurance for 6 months in my name on my l's im saving $800 and getting my rating down faster then my mates -Ruffels allthough i didnt check with shannons or famous at the time :s ... probably should have -
are the tyres brand new or used?
