Rattle the monkey's cage.......and steal his bananas cheers PS, I am actually finding it very entertaining, but I have to go, I have a 2600 bhp engine to tune.
-
What, it's all one way traffic? He gets to choose first? Who died and made him king? Simple challenge, I bet my car is 10% faster than his at any circuit I choose And his car isn't 10% faster than mine at any drag track he chooses What shall we race for? cheers
-
You really gotta remember what you said and not get it confused with what I said. Once more I have to quote you............getting tedious isn't it? Your the one who claimed MPH is a good indication of engine power A statement that I totally dissagre with and have proven so with the bus example. Stick a 1,000 bhp JZ in a bus and I bet it does lousy mph Hell make it a 2,000 bhp JZ cheers
-
A quote from you You build the fastest JZ you can with HUGE power and put it in a bus (I am feeling generous, not a double decker or a bendy, a single decker will do) I will race you in a standard Skyline Wanna bet who goes fast and who doesn't? Too easy, I am getting bored, like candy from a baby cheers
-
No problems, tell 'em to bring it on I can be at Wakefield Park anytime they like Let's make it a 30 lap challenge on road tyres I'll even give them a lap head start cheers
-
You really have to stop giving me a free ride to fun What you are saying is only engine power matters You can't go fast without huge power So it doesn't matter how much your drag cars weighs, only how much power it makes So it doesn't matter how aerodynamic your drag car is, only how much power it makes What you are saying is if I stick a 1000 hp JZ into a bus it will still do the same ET or TS as say a Tootees door car chassis To quote a famous TV show "I don't think so Tim" And I haven't even gotten into traction yet. cheers
-
Two separate statements; A 2wd Skylines with an RB is lighter than a 2wd Toyota (Lexus) with a JZ. A 4wd Skyline with an RB has a traction advantage over a 2 wd Toyota (Lexus) with a JZ. HPI, Speed, Zoom etc are dumb, they know lots of little things about lots of cars But not enough detail about any particular car to be of much use That's why forums (like this excellent one) exist To fill in the information void left by magazines cheers
-
Oh goody, more chances to make you look silly.......... So what you are saying is I couldn't take the JZ out of the Supra, Lexus or whatever it is and replace it with another engine and go just as fast? The chassis, driver, tyres, suspension etc are completely irrelevant, only the engine matters in drag racing. Is that right? Hang on, I'll just hop onto the phone and save 1,000's of drag race teams heaps of money. Sack the chassis engineers, lose the driveline specialists, drop the tyre technicians, flick the drivers and pay the engine guys double. That's all that really matters cheers
-
Actually, I am just jerking your chain, because it's all too easy to tease the monkeys. I am always up for a challenge, heard of pink slip racing? Welll................. I will bet your JZ can't beat my RB down the 1/4 mile No chassis or tyres or gearboxes or driver, just the engines on their own Side by side, when the flag drops the BS stops If your engine wins, you can have mine cheers PS; because that's exactly what you have been saying, a JZ is faster than an RB.

Have you actually driven a 1G-GZE? What about a 4AGZE? I have and they were disappointing to say the least. Sorta like driving a diesel, lots of low down torque, but no rpm. It just goes flat at 4,500 rpm or so. It’s typical supercharger dynamics at work, limited rpm range determined by gearing. If you can’t find one of either of those, try an MB 200 Kompressor, that will give you some idea of the best that the supercharger is going to get. Then remember that MB have been at this supercharged thing for a long time and spent millions getting that engine as good as it is. That is why the vast majority of car manufacturers of the world have gone to turbo charging. I don’t care how long you spend on your supercharged RB, I bet I can beat it in torque and useable rpm with a turbocharger in less than 1 day. That’s a fact and I am no genius, it’s simply because it’s that easy. cheers

New World Record Horsepower Figure
Sydneykid replied to Quinny's topic in General Automotive Discussion
Does that one have to be pluged into a power point to get the electricity necessary to run it? The alternator doesn't have sufficient output to run the fuel pumps, igntion etc so it needs to be plugged into 240 volts to run. cheers PS; How can it be a World Record when I saw a supercharged big block door slammer make 2500+ hp on hub dyno is Las Vegas about 10 years ago? -
Fuel Injector Mystery - Premature Maxxing Out
Sydneykid replied to satanic's topic in Engines & Forced Induction
For your benefit and others, when I do a dyno (tune or power run) I ALWAYS get a graph of; 1. Horsepower (or kw for the metrically minded) 2. Boost 3. A/F ratios 4. Fuel pressure 5. Torque 6. RPM not mph (or kph for the metrically minded) Then, in your case for example, I can simply overlay the boost curve and the fuel pressure curve and detect any issues with the fuel flow and/or pressure. Separate, dedicated (non standard) electrical supplies for Bosch fuel pumps are essential. They are a high torque (for flow and pressure) pump and hence require decent sized wiring. cheers -
Can you say useless inlet manifold, ridiculous double throttle body, lousy cam followers, soft valve springs, poor water jacket design, crap exhaust manifold, excessive rotating mass..................the list is almost endless (no, not the brake pads). Toyota thought so much of JZ's that they stopped making them after what, 6 years. Nissan made RB's for 18 years. Pretty obvious who had more faith in their design Anybody that compares a handful of top level drag meetings in a year in Japan with at least 2 every weekend in the US, is either naive or stupid, perhaps both. But even that doesn’t compare with the temerity necessary to compare one discipline of engine performance in one geographic area of the world with that achieved world wide in other disciplines. It’s a stupid as the US baseball being called the World Series, it’s a joke, but nowhere near as funny as you. cheers

My guess = high 10's with drag street radials and a decent clutch. Any faster will break the gearbox. cheers

Rechip your standard ECU, cheaper, better, nicer. cheers

The adjustable ones, front caster, front camber and rear camber. They are always first on the list. cheers -
Fuel Injector Mystery - Premature Maxxing Out
Sydneykid replied to satanic's topic in Engines & Forced Induction
You should have said that in the first post. Who set up the "Nismo Fuel Reg"? What base pressure did they use? Standard pressure should be 36-38 psi (plus or minus boost / vacuum) They DO NOT come out of the box preset to the standard pressure. cheers -
A give me a break. Any one can build an engine to run for 1/4 mile and then blow itself to pieces What does that prove? I can build a better hand grenade than you Or I have bigger budget than you and I can afford to blow up 50 engines a year searching for the last poofteenth Let’s see it run at varying loads for a few hours, that’s a real test of engine’s power over time (the only true measure) Stop with the drag racing from the US rubbish It proves nothing, other than yanks like JZ’s because the turbos are on the right side for them So what cheers

Fuel Injector Mystery - Premature Maxxing Out

Hi Stan, first guess is always fuel pressure. Get your tuner to plumb in a pressure sensor (or guage) and run it up on the dyno, that will tell you what is going on. cheers -
Another Heartbreaking Got Defected Last Nite Story.
Sydneykid replied to ODessA's topic in General Automotive Discussion
Are you suing them? For loss of income, while you cleared up their mistakes Pain and suffering, at being falsely accused Legal costs, for mounting this case Someone has to do it, get it on the news, make a stand, show them that they have to obey the law even MORE than we do. cheers -
SK, rule of thumb for McPherson struts. Space the lower control arm from the upright by the amount you have lowered the car. This returns the lower control arm to the same angle as it had before you lowered the car too much. SK tip, don't forget to correct the bump steer. What are doing about the rear? cheers
