Whos Good At Guessing Prices
Konrad replied to drift_sil80's topic in R Series (R30, R31, R32, R33, R34)
Mate of mine had an s13 with similar damage, tho his was a camry wagon not a cliff.. Cost him $5000 i think as the whole strut tower had moved and needed some stern treatment to get it realigned properly. (that was bonnet, guard, bumper, reinforcement bar, lhs headlight and indicator...plus labour. Yours dont look quite as bad though. Good luck.. -
At least you've got a way better chance with an auto. Less chance of being flogged, saw some really clean examples around a month or so ago when i was looking....

I got a blitz. Not too loud and no flutter, i like it

Thanks for the kind words guys... I actually think the kits a bit over the top for my tastes but its growing on me. I beleive its a top secret front bar, veilside skirts and a trial rear bar but not 100% sure. Working something out with chris (audioexpress) for the alarm... Its already got an immobiliser at the moment.

Oh yeah, where in brisbane is a good place to get a decent alarm/immobiliser fitted? (ony moved down here a few months ago). I searched these forums but didn't find anything useful.

Hi all, Just got a r33 last week and was wondering where do you guys meet up and what do you do? Cheers. PS: Whats a good compression test result for a RB25? Mine was 130-135 on all cylinders.. Crappy photo of my car-

Flashing Hicas Light - Noones Got An Answer!
Konrad replied to Topaz's topic in R Series (R30, R31, R32, R33, R34)
I'll admit i dont know too much about these cars, but i remember reading something in HPI magazine about the light coming on to let you know that the car has activated the HICAS.. definatley could be wrong though since i dont own one  -
Shouldn't there be a more sophisticated join where the turbo outlets join up with the supercharger- like there'd need to be a butterfly valve or something to stop the pressurized air from the turbos going back into the supercharger right? It looks like a plain join thats all... I reckon photoshopped.

When Approaching A Red Light
Konrad replied to fLipKnot's topic in R Series (R30, R31, R32, R33, R34)
When i was learning to drive i was told i'd fail my licence test if i 'clutch coasted' to the lights. Had to downshift. Besides gear breaking is kinder to your brakes (although less kinder to your engine  ). I look at it in an emergency situation, someone outta nowhere rams you from behind and you're in neutral you'll go flying, in gear there'd be more resistance, plus it'd be quicker to put your foot down and get out of their way if you saw them coming as you wouldn't have to shift back into gear or risk the car bogging down while you attempt to take off in fourth or something.... Having said that i usually do a combination of both. Downshift then clutch coast the last few metres. -
I've found a 93 R33 Gts-t (first of the R33's) with a factory sunroof and,get this, 35000kms on it. The interior and exterior is MINT, not a mark to be found, smells like new. Even so i was sceptical so i asked for the orginal japanese auction papers, expecting the car yard (motorman imports in Springwood, Queensland) to give me nothing but excuses, but then they handed me the original papers, with matching vin numbers and the same km reading!! Its going for 20,000 which still seems steep. They'll give me 3000 as a trade on my car, so all up (incl dealer + govt charges) it'll cost me 17,455 on road (incl 6 mnths rego and 12 months waranty). I still dunno, seems expensive for a 1993 build car... What should i do?? After driving this POS for the last couple of weeks i can recognise whats good about my current car (a MX83 Toyota Cressida).

1989 Black R32 gtst with RB25 motor
Konrad replied to skyliner_89's topic in For Sale (Private Whole cars only)
Would you consider a swap for a 91 MX83 Toyota Cressida GLX and cash (say $13000)?? Are you running the standard IC? Are you running the RB25 5 Speed aswell? Any rust? How hard would something like that be to insure (do you have comprehensive, and if so how much is your premiums?) Can i ask why you're selling the car if you only imported it 6 months ago? I'm in brisbane, and was looking for a good R33 but i'm open to better alternatives.. Cheers. -
1980 Daihatsu Charade- White, with a blue bonnet and black rust kill paint.. No looker but cheap to run, fun handling (VERY light), and surprisingly peppy for a 3 cylinder 993cc engine. Had it for 4 months before my parents wanted to help me get something 'safer and more reliable'. Next was a 1993 charade, lacked the character of the 1980 tho. Then 2 XF falcons (what WAS i thinking). Now i've got a 91 MX83 cressida, thats demanding more and more in repairs/upgrades so a R33 SII is in the works... (so if anyone wants a cheap MX83 pm me -its a good base for a 1jz conversion, i simply dont have the time or space to do it)

Damn! :hellpisd: Unfortunatley i've been called out of town for work (Stanthorpe of all friggin places :hellpisd: !!) for a few weeks, so i'll have to put my plans on hold. I'll check back in a few weeks time.. , on the plus side its good money (i'll be doing lots of on call shifts, weekends etc...)which in the end will extend my budget even heigher (to say $22K as a rough figure). So its good in the longrun. I dont leave until the 14th but i'm flat out until then aswell, so can't see myself buying a R33 before I leave. Getting back mid july, but then going back out there for another stint until 8th August. I've got the odd weekend back here in brisvagas so i'll still be looking around tho, incase something comes up... Thanks for all your responses everyone, though searching though these forums i've gained alot more insight into what sort of car I need to be looking at, and what prices to pay.

I was looking at something like this: http://motovationimports.carpoint.ninemsn....vationimportsau I testdrove this one last weekend, the gearbox felt notchy and it was hard to get into 1st and second, plus I suspect its been accident repaired in the rear quarter (even tho these cars 'allegibly' cannot be complied)... http://motovationimports.carpoint.ninemsn....vationimportsau
