  7. i am becoming very interested in doing this motor build up as a side project after reading both of these threads which are proving to be very informative. just a suggestion... is there going to be a price guide to go buy to give some of us an idea of the costs associated with the build up.? <-- for the word document that joel seems to be making
  8. i have an R32 RB20det... silver top so 270cc <- still piss poor and rb20 injectors are top feed high impedence the rb26 are top feed low impedence i have an EMS so i can use anything thats top feed. lowlux <-- you still go the NICS?

  10. my injectors must be piss poor.. cuz they are 'maxed' at around 154 or so rwkw which doesnt seem right
  11. lol i want more power... would a proper 3" dump give a noticeable power increase over the stock cast dump pipe.
  12. well i gather it increments over the early RPM points.. then at 2500 or 3000, me forgets, the frequency is 150, and stays at that point up until around 5500 where its decrease to a lower number and i gather again that the 150 frequency corresponds to 10-11psi the thing is the range for this frequency is 0 - 255
  13. i have worked out what i need to do to boost control (instruction manuals ARE useful) but i have to adjust a number.. that is a Pulse Width Modulator frequency.. that in turn some how controls the EMS boost solenoid

  17. yeh my power output seems pretty poor for what i got on the car... my fuel pump died in the ass up high on boost, so in went a 550hp pump... then my injectors are at their "limit"... yet the power level is waaay down from what i've seen rb20dets run
  18. i did some recent cooler shopping, heres what i found: 600x300x75 "Universal" intercooler $770 @ rolin auto imports $660 @ STZ Automotive exact same cooler tho the coolers dont look to flash and the way they were treated at one of the mentioned workshops was pretty poorly... bent fins everywhere... scratches and all that. i bought a 600x275x55 from a guy on performance forums. Aftermarket cooler inlet: 25deg cruise 39deg on full boost stocko cooler inlet: 41deg cruise 70+deg on fullboost my car still feels slow as poo tho.. and its been tuned
  19. yeh i have also read good things about cryo freezing parts to increase strength. i think heat treating them hardens the outersurface, whereas freezing hardens the outer surface as well as the inside of the object... or something like that
  20. my boost guage is plumbed into a line at the back of the manifold nearest the firewall... a picture would help maybe? what did u run on the dyno?
  21. haha yep followed them .. pretty easy to do... the screw was in there tightly, with plumbers tape wrapped around... i had to force the thing in, so it was very tight and secure. it had a nice flutter on low spool, but once i stomped it abit and let off it had a flutter mixed with the pssht at the same time... kinda sounded like the bov was dying and i do have a r32 rb20det, so its not a NICS engine problem maybe the vale has a weak spring in it... i dunno i just took the screw out
  22. i did this mod thiss morning and removed it about 15mins later. on about 10IN-Hg to 3psi you get the air reversion flutter noise but once on boost and you change gears of snap the throttle closed you get a combined flutter and half ass 'psssht' bov noise. Made the car sound like something was wrong with it. I dont know if it was just my bov but it didnt sound too good.
  23. hey i just got my car dyno tuned and its developed (or now more prominent) a miss... The miss occurs only at 2000-2100rpm.. after and before that point the car drives very smoothly. the coil packs were checked, the spark plugs were checked... and the car was dyno tuned. shouldnt be the injectors as its only at 2000rpm. the car has a 550hp fuel pump and an EMS the motor is a silver top RB20det i have been told that it maybe be a bit of carbon or crap in the hydrualic lifter any ideas?

  25. hi, since i bought my skyline i knew it was running on the bit rich side of things but put that down to having an EMS. lately i can feel the car getting sluggish, but put that down to me getting used to the car. then the first set of spark plugs fouled on me.. (weird feeling when it happens at the top of 2nd gear) they were replaced... now not even 4 weeks later they have fouled again and i have just replaced them today. what could be causing my car to be running extra rich ? i need to get the EMS tuned but i am wondering if there is anything else that could be slowly increasing fuel over time. i have thought maybe the O2 sensor ? if so how much and what kind of O2 sensor could i replace the current one with.. i notice it has 3 wires on it too. Specs: EMS QI4 dual sport R32 RB20det Silver top Spark Plugs: NGK BCPR6ES, gapped to 0.8 thanks.
