  1. 2nd and 3rd gear would be spiking alot harder due to the extra load = boost and the bleed valve struggling to bleed off the extra boost. 1st gear on my car doesnt come close to full boost i think it goes to about 7psi.
  2. just looked at some pics, it is you.. Go ACU
  3. I hear he runs 12's or 13's. I wanna give him a run... i'm SLO-31 .... no ones seen me around... MASE which car is yours in that pic ? does it have the plates NAS 013 or something like that ? for anyone who's half interested pics of my car hereClicky Clicky
  4. Roy that was my plan.. but i am getting told this way and that way that i cant use RB20 parts on the rb25/30, then people say i can. so confusing.
  5. Althought they look the same.. are there different bolt patterns that prevent them from bolting up....
  6. are they in the old fantasy performance shed? cuz they did a poor conversion on my mates car... that ended up breaking down on the way home from the workshop fantasy that was
  7. i just got quoted $495 + gst to have my head crack tested, surfaced, cleaned up, valves reseated and timing set up... then i have to supply the VRS kit on top of that price. these guys will weld my vvt oil feed for free if i want them to, they also did a vac test on it and checked for warpage for free. It vaccums up alright and has very minimal (normal) degree or warpage. so thats all good news for the head
  8. if i dont want to use VVT i can just bolt the head on as if it was the rb25de head cant i ? the head has the oil squirter for the cam, but if the block doesnt have this i can bolt the rb25det head onto the block and just not use VVT ? is there a need to weld or screw up the oil feed? of is it right to leave as is?
  9. from an RB25det or Rb25de ?
  10. just want to know, did u put a new 32 gearbox or is it a 33 gearbox ?
  11. which plenum would flow better.. RB25 or RB20 ? can still get forged pistons for cheap...... -Dave-
  12. Alright Trendsetters, I have a contact who can get Wiseco forged pistons to suit this application for $1400 with rings and pins... If i remember correctly these pistons will give 8.6:1 compression when used in the RB30DET configuration. The catch is, to get them at this price i need some other people willing to buy them too. I would be interested in purchasing these as it is fairly good value for forged wiseco pistons with rings and pins. Postage would be paid for on top of that price by you. Which shouldnt be too much. I will price it when i know how much they weigh all up. So is anyone interested? Wiseco Forged Pistons with rings and pin 8.6:1 CR $1400
  13. NA = weight(kg) x 4.82, Turbo = weight(kg) x 4.0 QLD has the same. I just called an Engineer. The weight goes on the RTM or something like that.
  14. Does anyone have access to trade or some really bargain prices on forged pistons at all ? Maybe a group buy ? or if someone can score some forged pistons for trade kinda prices let me know *Uni student = Cheap skate!*
  15. yeh Mr Chan! I still have their official banner next to me. "Twice the Rice, Half The Price" But the place brendan is getting his engineering thru looks alright. My main concern is to find out if a 3L is legal in my car as it came standard with an RB20det.
  16. Thanks for the pics browny! Any one else got any other ways to identify the gearbox?
  17. can aftermarket computers be mod plated ? and can we drive around with them ? i have my EMS hand controller in a visible location so i dont want to get bum poked by a copper on a bad day if he see's it. And who does mod plating in QLD. I got told of www.kcf-rallysport.com.au they are doin work for a friend. any others?
  18. i would be interested to know about this in QLD. I will also ask my mate when he gets online and let you know what he is doing. (His VL is going to a 2 seater, manual to auto, roll cage, so engineering/mod plate required)
  19. nick i asked this at the top of the page... to make the VVT operational you will need a switch to activate the VVT oil feed solinoid at a set point. Joels idea was to have a switch hooked up to the tacho reading so that once the car reaches say 5000rpm the soilinoid would open allowing the VVT to function. well thats how i assume it would work Dave
  20. no one who i fully trust said it. just myth i suspect.
  21. T head, mainly for the stronger valve springs. Tho the more 'aggresive' cams of the NA might have been better.
  22. ahh good thinking. well i think i may just ditch the VVT in favour of future, very distant future, aftermarket cams and cam gear. Cheers
  23. /que dumb question from dave Hello all. Upon pondering my upgrade i just thought of this. How do you control/activate the VVT ? Like the people using the R32 ECU... the R32 didnt have VVT so how do you 'stimulate' the solenoid to open to allow oil pressure onto the cam bearing ? just wondering how people with non R33 ecu's are activating the VVT if using it. Can the VVT oil feed just be bunged up and not used? Any harmful side effects? Cheers Dave
  24. not entirely correct about the wastegates. the internal wastegate just means that the waste gate is incorporated into the exhaust side of the turbo from the factory. external wastegate is an aftermarket accessory used for more accurate boost control and can be fed back into the exhaust or to atmosphere.
