Dyno Day 2: No result ok they put in iridiums, didnt fix the problem. The car did 1 ramp and was nice and clean, BUT STILL ONLY 206hp on 11psi!!!! WTF car went for another ramp... and the breakdown appeared again. The place is pissed off and so am i. Platnum plugs are being tried tomorrow. -

fuel pump: Walboro 550hp EMS has a fuel cut i think as a rev cut. But the rev cut both hard and soft have been raised to the 7000rpm range. -

i think they are gonna try some expensive ass plugs tomorrow :S doubt its a coil pack, never had a problem before, and as stated, was running fine minutes before this current break down happened. -

Steve, I am using BCPR6ES gapped to .8 minimum. apparently the tips of these can 'bounce' under higher boost pressures and cause an ignition breakdown as i am expereincing. Have you got any input on that at all ? I have been recommened by the shop to use Iridium ($20 per plug) Up until today i have laughed at everyone who rushed out to use iridiums, as i saw normal plugs working fine, but to have this sudden break down has made me wonder.... -

i *think* i am what ever the stock ignition setup is for an Rb20. Cuz i doubt it has been changed by the EMS as it still uses the stock igniter module. -
ok here's my tale Today on the dyno my car was given a run up with new turbo and new injectors with the old tune. - 114hp @ wheels - 10.1 AF.. or lower... 10 was the lowest on the scale it was a no brainer that it was over fueled. A quick adjustment of maps: - 209hp@wheels@6000rpm Nothing special, car had that in its previous stock form. However the turbo wasnt reaching boost till 4500 rpm, then slowly built up boost to 14psi. - Finger was pointed at the EMS boost control solenoid being to slow to bring on boost. The solenoid was sorted and boost was coming on at 3200rpm feeling stronger. BUT.. heres the but... - Soon as the car reaches 5000rpm it seems like there is an ignition cut and stops the power. We are scratching our heads as to why, New plugs were put in and gapped to 0.8. - Rev cut is 7900 hard, 7500 soft - boost Kpa cut is set at well over 1bar ... car hit 17.1psi at one stage earlier. - boost when ignition breakdown occured was 12psi Anyone got any ideas? *Have been told* - at higher boost pressure the spark plug electrodes can bounce resulting in ignition breakdown... (the tips close then open.. boucnce)

ahh STZ Automotive i know where those guys are, should i just rock up and check it out? or do we go thru you ? I'll be keen as for one... as long as my car doesnt blow up on the dyno today

Hey Jayson Do you know if they make a front strut bar to fit an Import HR31? or does anyone know if the HR31 front struts are similar to another model car? I'd be interested at the price. Dave

i think it may be overfueled and putting load on the engine. Mine used to sit on 22inHg, then i fitted larger injectors and turbo and it sits on 500rpm idle and 10-15inHg vacuum. Currently so rich my mums hyundai would whip my ass! short: You need a tune, or that intercooler fitted, IMO. Dave

Howdy whats the stock rev cut on an R32 RB20det ? How far would it be SAFE to raise the rev cut to on an internally standard RB20, but with larger injectors, larger fuel pump, larger turbo, large FMIC, and aftermarket management ? Cheers Dave

i got an EMS, 460cc and 550hp fuel pump cant go over 3k until tues when i get a tune.... new turbo has such a nice spool noise to it cant wait to boost it

ok drove it without the exhaust... runs like a pig, wouldnt idle or maintain a real stable idle. Loud as all hell.... spool noise just echoes thru the streets. Dump was attached to exhaust and idles normally and drives 'ok' up to 3000rpm. I think i can say now that the larger injectors are just overfueling it and prevents it from even getting on boost properly.

Hey Guys, Would dropping the exhaust off the back off the turbo cause the car to run differently and affect the tune? I am thinking it would as there is no back pressure... better scavenging off the ports. I ask this cuz i gotta drive my car down the road to the exhaust shop to fit my dump to the exhuast. Also... Fitting larger injectors. If i throw in a set of 460cc's upgrading from the 270cc stockos, the car will be running quite rich? true? Cheers Dave

F*CK this... i cannot get to the nuts underneat the plenum... i am about to fly kick my car its shitting me that much! how do you take the plenum off... but sockets just wont fit cuz the runners are too close to the bolts.. (underneath the plenum) can u take out fuel rail without taking plenum off???

Tuning EMS on ECCS RB20det - Help please

i have another tune sheet i can send ya, but it was tuned for a GTR intercooler, and when i ran my setup on that tune with a stocko 32 cooler the car ran waaay to rich and managed to foul a set of plugs in 2 weeks. I got the stocko reg on my car, as i have 460cc injectors going in soon. Dont know if i should get a rising rate reg or not. as for fuel pump. I had the richer map tuned for a R33 GTS-t fuel pump. So whatever pump you have should be fine. -
Hey I got a HR31 passage. a warning light has just come on and i dont know what it means. It is next the the empty washer bottle warning light. this light looks like a carousel to me. can also look like a tent. it has a pitched midle and 4 "windows" on it. |-----^-----| | O O O O -------------- looks something like that cept the circles are more oval like and the roof has more of a pitch in the middle. I have no idea what this warning light means. And no one at R31 has answered me, So i take it they dont know... any ideas or point me in the right direction ??? Dave

R31-GTSX, thats a dual sport model. I have the QM4/QI4. With that setup it ran 236hp@wheels. Which really isnt that great considering what is done to it. When you go into setup it should have a 1, or 2 down the bottom right? i think. That indicates which map you are on. I havent used this before but i think you can have a tune for say outright HP or a tune for economy and switch between the two. Dave -

They are just tubes and fine with tanks on the end. Maybe their final finishes may look a tad better, they arent going to cool the air any better. They are just aluminium heat exchanges one made locally will do the EXACT same job as one from japan. And besides you hide the intercoolers behind the front bar. How many people come up and sus out the quality of your cooler?? not directed at anyone...

I dont know why people always ask for specific coolers of if they see a cooler for sale "will it fit xxxx car" Its a cooler, you make it fit or not also try www.pwr.com.au

JimX - no offence at all, i dont htink its the nicest looking approach. And yeh i would like to hear comments about the reverse piping method... like for and against...
