Using An Rb26dett Power Fc On An Rb20det
SirRacer replied to armbrusb's topic in Engines & Forced Induction
i have the rb26dett pinout here in front of me (managed to get a pdf of the manual for the ca + r32 rb series) and it seems the injector grounds are same for the rb26dett as they are for the rb25det therefore converting a rb25de (r32) or rb20det is going to be harder with this computer than the rb25 computer ill take the printouts to work tomorrow and compare them then when i have some more spare time -
are you sure this is correct? these pin outs are almost the same as the rb25 sheet here (incl the injector grounds which are different) if you check the loom on rb20det.com you will see there is a difference between the rb20/20 det and i was always under the impression the r32 rb series had the same loom POST EDITED Loom is correct. I have the manual for ca18,rb20de,det,rb25de,rb26dett (r32) and it looks like that changing to a rb26 power fc you also need to swap 112 & 114 pins around + the rewiring of the afms etc

Can I Remove "dropping Resistor" With Pfc Install?
SirRacer replied to CruiseLiner's topic in Engines & Forced Induction
so the old r30 skylines have them. thats a handy piece of information if i could track one down. dont they have the l series engines? -

Can I Remove "dropping Resistor" With Pfc Install?
SirRacer replied to CruiseLiner's topic in Engines & Forced Induction
if you mean the resistor pack for the injectors, yes you will need to put another in -
when using one of these does all the options show correctly on the power fc controller? i also was under the impression the series 2 ran different coils, the power fc's have the same part number so is that more wiring related? in respect to the gtr power fc, from what i also understand it runs exactly the same pin out however the afm's need to be run in parallel and likewise with the oxy sensors. is this correct?
-
Sydneykid can you explain that comment, seems to have some merit behind it Any information on this or successfully using a gtr power fc in rb20 would be great

according to the distributor here in nz their pistons are made by ross in the US. dont know about supporting the local product but ross are known to make a very strong piston im going to be running acl cast pistons in my rb30 so will be interesting to see how they go. the only criticisms ive heard are the rings being weak
-
excellent post mate, you have given me hope with running one in my car now. someone said in an earlier post however that the firing order is different? the link doesnt work also by the way.

on a more informative note without trying to sell parts (interesting that cp say they dont make pistons for rb30/25, i emailed them) have we reached a consensus on what oil pump is best used with what restrictors. im not going to go ahead with my fully done 350kws + rb30, rather aim for near the 300 mark and want to know what restrictors would work well with an rb25de pump. the rb25de and rb20det in r32 series share quite a bit common so it may even be the same as the 20det pump

i know of an r31 cam cover fitting an r32gtr so presume it fits

with those pistons and a 0 deck height 8.5, otherwise with 1mm deck height around 8.3 from memory changing the pistons to rb26 will end up with a nasty compression ratio, acl make replacements that go 1mm oversize so use those. part number 6mkry2799 .100 . they are standard rb30e pistons with chromoly rings.

if its from an rb30et it wont fit at all -
How Much Power Is Realistic For My Rb20det
SirRacer replied to scott_to4's topic in Engines & Forced Induction
hes got your engine mixed up, thinking it was an r33 gtst engine. those injectors will work fine a turbo you could look at would be a gt2571r with a .63 housing. would be good for a little more power than that however -
if the engine is an r32 series you have swapped in exactly the same injectors power fc is the only way to go, no doubts about it
-
my error was not increasing the bore size with the vg running the 87.12 and not putting in the - for the cc's of the piston gary has mentioned to me a while back he uses the JE as his first pick and has also used acl pistons, im one whos very interested in getting some part numbers for both i think the vg's will have a similar problem to the rb30et pistons with horribly low compression. it seems we really need something with a positive cc to get a nice comp ratio.
-
I dont think the pistons you have got are the race series as the race series are the forged ones. If you do indeed have the rb30 forged pistons your compression is going to be very very low from what ive been told. (Friend of mine works at repco and id get the same discount so ive been doing lots of research.) Im not to certain your bearings and gaskets are included in that price, i think thats bullshit. My rings were around 150 trade, gasket set 200 trade and pistons were going to be 550. Thats staff discount also not trade so cost + GST
-
the block in my shed also looks like it doesnt have any clearance whatsoever
-
how do we take the dome cc's into account when measuring the compression ratio how would using the rb25 pistons also affect them when the block is decked to suit?
-
yeah it does have forgies but when you look at the mods hes listed there isnt that much more spent on doing forged pistons. from memory its only running 260kws at the wheels. you obviously wouldnt run this much power howevereven getting close and you still have a fast car. here in nz people get rid of their gst's and modify gts4's much more often and there are quite a number doing late 12's on stock engines with 550cc injectors, an old t3/t4 and computer. i think people here probably arent giving them the respect they deserve. sure they are heavier than the gtst but they have a thing called traction which is much more effective than any massive turbo
-
that said there is an 11 second gts4 running here in nz on the stock rb20det. if you go onto skylinesdownunder.co.nz and ask about a car called FLAMEN some of the guys on there will be able to give you some more information from what i remember it has forged pistons a t3/t4, 550cc injectors, link computer and runs late 11's without to many problems the one thing thats good about your gts4 is you have the magical (turn off the hicas) fuse
-
sounds good, you have been there done that so all the info is pretty helpfull whats a formula to work out comp ratio and what ratio were your pistons ideally, had they been in an rb25
-
how do i work this out and is the squench (sorry dont know the exact name) an issue with mixing and matching pistons?
-
those mods will work well however your goal of minimal lag is very optimistic. as was said above the gts4 is a heavy car and a lot heavier than the standard r32. you may make that amount of power but your going to be driving 4 wheels as opposed to 2 and in a car which weighs close to 1500kgs (think its 1460). you may get close to what you had before but without forgies or a hybrid engine i think its still going to be a bit lacking here in nz we can drive whatever car we want so i guess we have that to be fortunate for.
