I happen to know one of the Link Developers through the tuning of my car. He confirmed that they have been working on those ECU's for quite some time and that the Vi-pec is basically a rebadged Link. Considering the R&D Link constantly do and the features of their previous model ecu (the g3 which i run in my car) i find it incredibly hard to believe that the Link is a rebraded Vipec. In fact i find it bloody funny. Guilt Toy. Those adaptor boards i think were for my G3 Ecu primarily. They can also be used for r33gtst, gtr's, r32 gtst all by changing a resistor on the board. I can post a picture of my one if you want to confirm it with yours when it arrives. Link's support isnt as flash as Ray Hall's by all accounts. Whether its worth an extra $400 ill leave up to the individual, however id rather get the support direct from those who designed the ECU. Let the flaming begin.....

im having fuel issues with a single 044 with surge tank with return coming from the engine. hopefully i will manage to fit a fuel cooler system in the next few days and that should determine whether thats the problem or not. the fuel pump will sometimes hesitate and almost cut out when the car is just cruising on the open road. when i have driven it at night i dont get the problem, nor if its only for a short drive.

Timing Belts For Twin Cam Conversion
SirRacer replied to [200]'s topic in Engines & Forced Induction
BT866 is the bosch belt. Im sure this has all been covered in the rb30 thread -
Have you heard of this sort of issue being common? Spoke to a Race Car builder yesterday who says he hasnt come across this problem at all when building RB powered cars. Another two mates have 044 powered setups running exactly the same system as me with no problems at all. All rail fuel was being returned back into the surge tank. I wonder if its just the way the fuel lines are run or something in the RB's?

Ok i fully understand the point, I just cant quite comprehend that out of all the 044's running externally in cars today that all these people are having to run a fuel cooling setup to solve the overheating problem? That said im going to track down a oil cooler and do some mods to it and at least try that option. Would people suggest mounting it in the boot and running a fan over it or mounting it somewhere under the car?

Changed relay and problem is still there. The pump is also seeing 13 volts at present. How much is one of those coolers?

Guilt-toy Installs Vipec V44 Plug In.. & Base Tuned
SirRacer replied to Guilt-Toy's topic in Engines & Forced Induction
Its a rebranded Link computer by all accounts. Link of late have lifted their game substantially and make some pretty sharp ECU's. I remember actually posting something suggesting re the new Link Ecu's in the tech forum a few months ago and being rubbished about the specs vs power fc etc. Its quite funny what a name change can achieve. Glad your happy with your ecu mate. The one running in my car I cant fault as yet. -
Ive just dug this up from the dead as im now having the same problems with my 044. When i drove the car for short periods of time the pump was fine, however now it seems to heat up and cause me problems. The bosch dealer in my case said the relay i used may be causing the problem. "The intermittent noises can be related to low voltage = high current = excessive heat and swelling of the pump armature which will not cause the pump to fail all together but limit its output, (causes shorts in the armature and lowers the pumps terminal rpm) and/or starving of fuel pump under surge conditions = wear in the gear set = terminal pump damage and will eventually stop altogether." I fail to see how everyone running a bosch pump in their boot is going to require some sort of fuel cooler system as the pump is having issues? Anymore opinions or developments from anyone whos posted in here? Hes pics of my setup anyway. I do think the wire is a bit thin and may be causing a voltage drop. Im also going to change the relay to something a bit meatier. Will post back when i sort out the problem.

R32 - Rb20 220 230kws Vs New V8's
SirRacer replied to Italiazr1's topic in Engines & Forced Induction
what sort of tyres? that would be my main question to why you arent keeping up as somethings a tad wrong -
i got some metal tie from bunnings (looks like a long length of solder) and used that. they use it for tieing things down perhaps like fences, bits in the garden etc. Its galvinised and pretty cheap (7 bucks per roll)

R32 - Rb20 220 230kws Vs New V8's

What sort of tyres are you running? That normally can make a massive difference. If that doesnt work, just throw a small nitrous shot in there. -

Do i need to definitley get a non abs cylinder? Ive never seen one but presume they may have an extra line? Can anyone elaborate? Thanks Byron

Testing E-boost Controller Solinoid
SirRacer replied to SirRacer's topic in Engines & Forced Induction
Anyone know how i can test the solinoid? The problem is that when the boost controller is off the gategate is open boosting. Bloody weird really! Any diagnostic advice would be great. Cheers -
Ive just picked up a boost controller to use in my race car. The thing has been used before but it was supposidly working when i brought it. The guy tuning my car has mentioned it hasnt held boost. Its all plumbed up exactly as the intructions have suggested. I havent yet played with the settings on the back as i dont get the car back until tomorrow. He didnt want to play with it for any longer to avoid charging me a fortune. Side of wastegate to plenum Fuel pressue reg into top of boost controller (think thats the boost sensor) Top port of gate into controller Controller into cooler piping (no idea what this is) Is there anyway i can check to see whether the solinoid is actually buggered or not? Any info from people with experience with these controllers would be great.

im interested in what is the biggest amount of lift one can run before the head needs the die grinder treatment.

High Powered Rb's And Burnouts....
SirRacer replied to Guilt-Toy's topic in Engines & Forced Induction
Why dont you live in NZ? Thats a bloody superb offer if ever ive heard one. -
How many litres are these guys putting in? I fill my engine from a massive big container so havent measured it as yet so dont know.
-
what are the specs of that thing? bit of a monster for a 25 head?
-
quite a number of the big named japanese intercooler kits dont come with blow off valve mounts. quite a few race cars also dont run blow off valves so im sure they arent THAT bad for the turbo system. that said i do run one myself.
-
The new ECU's are very good. I run a G3 (last model which was also pretty sharp) on my rb30. Their after sales support is relatively crap though. They dont reply to emails etc. The tech forum is good though. Very good ecu for the price.
