  1. Use a power steering bracket from an rb20de or e engine and they bolt up perfectly. In my opinion with the rb30 is that everything seems to slowly require upgrading to suit everything else, eg gearbox & clutch due to torque. Other than that its a good choice for good power.
  2. You typically cant go wrong on a head thats 1500kms old considering most people are quite happy to run heads with 50+000 kms on the clock
  3. yeah i think they are from memory time flys especially when you have no cash. turns out i needed a custom turbo manifold, and then ditched the idea of running a modified power fc as the unknown was cause for concern. Watch this space as ill have some updates in the next few months when we try and get it going. Cheers
  4. an rb20 one will bolt on, but will be designed for the smaller ports. i guess if you wanted to grind them out, it would be ok
  5. I dont really know dude, but ive got 2 sitting here in front of me (banjo bolts i presume your talking about) and they are completely different width and length wise. If you mean the hose tails (the piece the banjo bolt goes into) they are slightly different size depending on what they have come from. What turbo is really teh question. The garrett gt series doesnt use much oil. I went with -4 line for the bling factor.
  6. Im at present getting all the parts ready for my turbo installation and want to run nice turbo and water lines to my turbo as its worth a bit of $$$. What im unsure of is what the bolt sizes, threads etc are from the water feed, oil feed and the oil return. If anyone can help, that will make my parts buying much easier. Running an rb30det with 3540r turbo So Far the bits im buying are. Please let me know if ive missed any. Im running the weld on as im running a water return into the pipe by the radiator. 8 Pushlock Hose $4.55 + G.ST per ft (for water use only) 3 metres -4 Stainless Braided hose $5.08 + G.S.T per ft 1 metre -4 Male to 7/16-24 Inv Male Not available 1 -8 Male to M14x1.5 Male $8.43 + G.S.T ea 2 -8 Hose end pushlock 90 $23.13 + G.S.T ea 2 -8 Hose end pushlock straight $7.40 + G.S.T ea 2 -4 Hose end for braid 90 $21.96 + G.S.T 1 -8 Male weld on $3.01 + G.S.T ea 1
  7. dude a starter motor is a starter motor. you will probably find a similar starter motor on something like a nissan sunny as they are fairly generic. so yes, anything rb will be fine
  8. the sump on an rb20e engine is the same an a rb25de _ the wings so you can use that from memory the 30 seems to be a little deeper, but why cant you run that?
  9. Im in NZ and here a massive issue is actually getting mufflers to fit that sort of exhaust (3.5 inch +) If any of you Aussie blokes dont mind linking a few sites i wouldnt mind ordering a few. Cheers
  10. Have a look at linkecu.com and in particular the G3 model which is exceptional value for money. Its downfall is 4 ignition drivers, however im going to fix that with a 3 channel ignitor and running wasted spark which fixes the coil problem also. I paid 115NZ for 3 brand new Mitsi evo coils + leads say 80 = 200 153 AU for the 3 channel amp 1269 AU for the computer with a Plug in RB loom 1623 for a computer of those specs and a much better ignition system! Sounds like a good idea to me, and thats coming from someone who use to swear by power fc's. You can run it in a wasted spark mode as is but i wouldnt do it.
  11. Have i missed something, but what sort of engine? A 350 chev with gtrs will start spooling at around 1000 rpm
  12. hey dude, the most common issue with the rb's is their oil system. the thing ive learnt with engine rebuilders is they can build an engine however they dont know everything about every engine. eg the guy who is building my engine thinks im nuts for throwing a turbo at it. its a stock rb30 with 25 head and we all know how they go with turbos. id be very inclined to get a crank collar and better pump. i was lucky enough to pick up a 33gtr pump for free but can get another one for 200NZD, so id suggest looking into doing that. its a bit of an expense, but a new set of rings is 250/350 + hone 100 so its already paid for itself there!
  13. get a 44 gate, if your doing the rest of the setup properly its stupid to scrimp on this
  14. Just to add my 5 cents to this having done this today. (pics to come) I had around 10kgs of dry ice and was cleaning out the interior of my a31 cefiro. Previously ive had goes at chipping the sound deadener off the parcel tray and id managed to get the rear tyre areas done, the back seat area and one of the back footwells. All up in total i probably spent 5-7 hours. Im a bit of a cheap prick so thought this was the way for me and i was only using my time. I have now tried the dry ice method and its absolutely superb and id never even consider doing it any other way. In my opinion you couldnt get away with doing a car with 6kgs. I had 10-12 kgs and obviously didnt have to do the whole car and i still probably need another kg or 2 to finish the driver and passenger footwell bits. Once the dry ice is on and it starts crackling thats the time to start chipping. I found even by banging the floor with a hammer it would break and then you could attack it with the chisel and it would break off in massive chunks. You will find you need to either have lots of dry ice or move it around a lot as areas with little concentration are almost as hard as the chisel and hammer method. So id reccomend a good 10-18kgs for a 4door car, but the results are definitley worth it. Id imagine you would save a great deal in solvents alone removing the remains of your chisel effort. Ive filled up 2 rubbish bags worth of sound deadening + plastic trims and there is easily a good 30kgs in there. With the carpet a lot more. Ill weigh everything once im done.
  15. mitsi evos run wasted spark standard dont they? thats enough info for me to stop worrying im going to be running 3 mitsi evo coils with a 3 channel ignitor on a computer with 4 outputs simply to save a bit of cost. the tuner whos tuning it has an evo running 430kws atw on .8 plug gap. seems ok to me!
  16. id love to hear the difference in responce shaun as im thinking of changing mine also
  17. just rip the bits out and send them to allen at performance springs and he will make you to spring your after top bloke also and great prices
  18. just cut the hole. unless they are looking hard or you do a rough job they wont notice. i cut mine and then ran some boot trimming from a honda around the hole. in short it made it look standard.
  19. My cars been sitting on a farm for the last 2/3 years and things are now only getting somewhere now! The guy whos tuning my engine (he tunes the rips ones) runs the thing on the dyno. By the time the car is finished (1 day) its producing full power. Interesting take on things i thought
  20. Can the grammar police can this guy?
  21. You know there is a wait lasting months dont u? I hope you do!
  22. IF you look at the top of the page there are a hundred odd pages of posts which answer most of your questions
  23. The sort of money you mentioned is a great deal for all that stuff. He normally sells a long block for 4995. Id be interested in the plenum if its to suit rb25det (r32). Personally id swap to the 33 head if i was in your position, for simplicity
  24. i think that turbo will also be too small better suited for an rb25
