  1. See you there Tommy, the sled's going for a spin. B)
  2. Will be going along for the DatNats, so there'll be alot of zeds and datos buzzin around. B)
  3. Those bugs are suicidal.... You'll be picking them out for months to come. They end up in some really stange places. Nice time in the heat. B) I've got a track day down there next week in the Datsun Nationals.
  4. After all this talk on one piece tailshafts for NA's, I'm having one fitted at UAS. After having a thrash at Eastern creek the other week, my uni's and centre bearing are stuffed, so out with the old and in with the new. B)
  5. That's all good but what about those of us who don't drive a skyline???
  6. Try this clicky B)
  7. Sometimes a FMIC can restrict airflow into rad. I found this info at UAS: TWIN PASS MEANING WATER FLOWS IN AT THE TOP, ACROSS, THEN BACK THROUGH THE BOTTOM OF THE CORE, SO IT IS IN AND OUT ON THE SAME SIDE WITH A DIVIDER IN THE MIDDLE OF THE DRIVERS SIDE TANK. THE AIR GETS TWO GOES AT COOLING THE WATER. WE HAVE DONE TESTS THAT PROVE THIS COOLS BETTER, EVEN COMPARING TO A THICKER AFTERMARKET SINGLE-PASS CORE RADIATOR. THIS UNIT HAS MOUNTING BOSSES FOR THE FAN SHROUD AND A RIDGE AT THE TOP TO LOCATE THE FACTORY ALLOY FORWARD PLATE. A BOOK BY THE NAME OF "FORCED INDUCTION PERFORMANCE TUNING" STATES: "A TWO-PASS RADIATOR WILL DUMP 15-20% MORE HEAT THAN AN OTHERWISE IDENTICAL CONVENTIONAL SINGLE-PASS RADIATOR" These are used on most V8 supercars. So I guess you should give the 'cardy man' a call, aka J Penlington. :PBJ:
  8. Hey Reedy, does your r33 have a FMIC or a stocky? Maybe whack in a twin pass rad + a oil cooler, should cool things down a bit. I've got a track day at Wakefield in a couple of weeks in the DatNats '06. B)
  9. Top time Adam. Was it crowded ? You should have come to Eastern Creek on Friday, much cooler.. B)
  10. CAMS lic not needed for 'no speed limit days' at WP. Just need a WP members card. $40 for 12 months. Need helmet, long sleeves and pants. B)
  11. Yeh stock twin turbos had that number, but all Jap sports cars are set to this number of the show room floor, the car makers have a 'gentlemens agreement' to limit the power to 205kw. The z32 300zx was first released in 1989 and was built continuously untill 1998. They then released a 2000 model as a limited ed, Stillen inspired. The Aus delivered Zed 1990 came as a non-turbo and was $79,990 + ORC.The 1994 zed was $87,990 + ORC. The specs of the zed varied, but this car was Nissans 'flag ship model', so fully spec'ed, you could add power and leather everything. The r32 GTR was released in Aus in 1991 and was priced at $110,000 + ORC. The twin turbo z32 was not for sale in Aus but was priced at about the same as the GTR. I have a Wheels mag from 1991 May that was the first road test of a R32 GTR, Kevin Bartlett was the lucky driver, and he more or less 'blows his load' over it. They tested the liner against a Honda NSX, BMW M5, Ferrari Mondial and a Porsche Carrera 4. The GTR was heads and shoulders above anything he had tested before. Infact the only car that they had previously tested that handled as good and better insome cases was the Z32 300ZX. I will soon add this article to a sticky some where as it makes very interesting reading..... B)
  12. As a Z32 300ZX owner, i quite enjoy reading all the mis-information going around at the moment. I keeps the Zed less like a taxi, as you can spot a liner at almost every set of lights these days. If it's you first car, don't buy a Zed. Better to get something you can handle and manage finacially, as insurance is rediculous for P platers. B)
  13. I would suggest that the zed you drove still had the original dampeners/springs from 15 years ago. Simple upgrades make all the difference. My zed makes no power, (1/4 15.897), yet I can lap almost as fast as liners with twice the power. They have a lower centre of gravity, have a better weight distribution, are only 40kg heavier and a wider wheel track. My upgrades are bilstiens/apexi front C/O's, rear kyb/apexi C/O's, urathane bushes/pinnapples, slotted rotors with ultimates, front /rear mugen strut bars, r compounds and std sway bars. Engine is an NA but has a shit load of torque, so it pulls hard through the corners. Last SAU track day at Oran Park, I was able to hold my own against r32 gtr's, r33 gtr's and r34 gtr's. The z32 has almost identicle setup to a R32 GTR. B)
  14. May be going, weather wise. See if I can bust some eggs. RE: lanes, just ask John, I'm sure he'll accommodate Adam.. B)
  15. There's alot of mis-information going around at the moment regarding the performance of the z32. In standard form, the twin turbo 300zx would smack a gtst over the 1/4 mile and most likely on the track aswell, only the gtr would put up a good fight. There is an earlier thread regarding this very subject. Best to read what Shifter had to say, as his 300zx now puts out over 400rwkw, but it was originally an NA that had only 110rwkw. PS: HPI or Zoom, can't remember which, did a comparison between a TT 300zx and a R33 gtst some time ago and even they recognized the inherent power of the Zed. B)
  16. PS: You can always contact the guys at Unique Auto Sports in Sydney as they are by far the best zed experts in the country, ph (02) 9634 8000.
  17. Adelaide workshops for Zeds Here's a little list for you to try heslo. I don't live in Adelaide but I got this info from aus300zx.com. STAY AWAY FROM ADELAIDE Z CAR!!!!! - biggest rip off - backyarder work shop - guy is a tool - does not know much about z32's ...only old school z cars Go to: BLACKWOOD DYNO TUNE & SERVICE 2 Stirling Rd Blackwood 5051 (08) 8370 3450 OR MORPOWA AUTO & DYNO CENTRE 14 Famechon Crs Modbury North 5092 (08) 8264 2077 I'm not certain they do the work you require, but if not they will recommend someone who can. good luck........ B)
  18. The noise that eminates from the two piece tail shaft on the z32 is ordinarily the centre bearing. The tail shaft usually tremors or tramps under excelleration and then dissapates after some time/speed. Was this bearing replaced at the same time as the tail shaft? If it was, it seems unusual that the problem has returned so soon. Who did the fitment? If it wasn't replaced, then you can fit a thousand tail shafts and the vibration will never go away. A single or one piece tail shaft will solve this problem. But at $700 to $1000 to purchase, a centre bearing is at most $275 or less and is a smarter option. If your fathers zed is a stock NA, then a one piece is an overkill, to say the least, as these are rated to handle up to 550+ rwkw, a stock NA 300zx makes 115 rwkw. good luck...... B)
  19. I thought a 300zx did it in under 8 minutes, Steve Millen the pilot in the 24 hour?
  20. Audley weir is quite good early or late at the turn of the tide. (not on weekends) Spin some lures for decent bream or live bait for fat flatheads. Use a little berly to stir things up. Also bass on the fresh water side. Nice drive through nasho park after, if you don't catch ne thing. B)
  21. Thanks for your help Shell...... B)
  22. I have an L2S lic.
  23. Try Wakefield Park, they often have drift practice days. From memory they are about $80 for the day, also get a WP membership for $40.00. B)
  24. Good on you Caz. Fix up your turbo issues and with your new launch, who knows?
  25. Hey Adam I'm flattered that you have me down for such a low time at WP, but I think you'll find it was another boat, Boosted Zed, that hit 1.06's. I'm still up for 16's.
