  1. I remember reading somewhere that you are not allowed red at the front of your car or white at the rear (with the exception of reverse lights). That's about all of my knowledge on the topic haha.
  2. Sorry my bad. Yes Wilkinson's are on Beechboro rd South, not actually in Beechboro. Meh, I knew what I meant!! Personally I would just ring and ask if they (wilkinson's) would have a rough idea how much you'd be looking at. No harm ever came from asking!
  3. My brakes squeal when i've been driving in too much daily traffic and the pads become glazed (driving too soft). I just give the car a bit of a flogging and make sure to be on and off the brakes as quickly as possible - meaning that you are braking effectively. On reasonably hard then off. Repeat that a few times till you have worked the glaze off with your foot. If you don't want to do that, then remove the pads and file off the shiny layer. Shiny = glazed. It most likely also has something to do with your pads being 2500's. I just use Ferodo Formula's on my car because at the moment i'm not doing enough motorsport to warrant 2500's. That cop sounds like he's full of cr@p to me. How can they give you a yellow for squealing brakes? Did you tell him you have performance pads? What a moron....
  4. Those bastards! I just bought a pair of ferodo formula's for the front and they charged me $150! (inc gst). The only reason I didn't quibble with it, was because I didn't have the part number to get a price from my contact that works at repco, and his system was showing 3 different part numbers all for the same year of gtr, for the same type of pads....*growls*
  5. I'd say it was due to you having no NCB....
  6. Well I can't say i've ever noticed a 2nd muffler on my system, then again it's not standard haha. I still have standard dumps at this stage. 3" s/steel to the cat, 3" hi flow cat (came over with the standard one lol), 3.5" s/steel cat to rear muffler.... And yeah that does sound fairly cheap for the DBA's! DBA's are fairly popular performance rotors. For a full set of replacements for r32 gtr (slotted) was going to cost me just under $700 from repco....
  7. I use Pennzoil 10w30, which is what was recommended by the guy who rebuilt my engine back in March 05. Can't say I have had any problems with it....Just under $30 @ repco for 5 litres. As my car is driven nana-style most of the time (daily driver) and I do alot of km's like this, I tend to change it closer to 10,000km's. Which is between 4 - 5 months of driving for me.
  8. I hope you're not referring to the cat? Straight pipes are illegal... Pretty much everything else you listed you should be able to do yourself.
  9. Generally speaking, any insurer with "Underwriting Agency" at the end of their name is only accessible through a broker. I am pretty sure Torque is over 25's. Their vehicles are limited also. You could also try Unique, MB Prestige, Shannons, Dawes (may not do imports), gosh there are so many more that I can't remember right now (specialist car insurers)....At the end of the day, if you get stuck you know Just Car will insure pretty much anything. Oh and for some interesting but somewhat irrelevant news, there is not a policy that covers you for motorsport, available through AMP. Yes, they will provide cover for competitive racing, driver training such as mc's, track days and so on. We have only recently signed a broker agreement with them though, and as yet have no idea on what the pricing is like. As they appear to be the only ones that do it though, you can bet your bottom dollar it won't be cheap
  10. Oooook, after reading this i'm not so sure I want to come to Japan haha! Seeing as I do not have anyone to come with me, it no longer sounds like such a great idea *huffs* well not while i'm single anyway.... Thanks for the heads up!
  11. The best way to decide would be to compare the 2 policy wordings. See which one suits you better. Famous is a specialist car insurer, HBF is not. But it all depends on what you want as to which was you go, only you know what you want and what suits you and your circumstances
  12. Ahh ya should have sms'd me, my modem died on my home pc on tuesday night hahaha. And our work closed thursday & friday!!! So yeah this is the first access i've had to the internet since wednesday lunchtime... Wasn't a bad cruise, was better than I expected! When I rocked up and saw so many cars I though hmmm this could be interesting all good.
  13. Ring up and get a quote.....That's the best way of knowing.
  14. Futurama? His neutralness hahaha.... Why do there have to be so many cruises on the same night? Sheesh. I'll try and make it to this one
  15. Lol. I thought it was a bit pov haha. VERY glad it was a joke....If I changed my oil every 4000km's I would get about 2 months out of it!! I do about 500km's a week
  16. Once I changed my fuel filter my car stopped spluttering as well. It could also be your tune ishh.
  17. I work in an office for an insurance broker. I'm 21, permanent full time. And I have an R32 GTR. Had it for just under a year. I change my oil every 10,000 km's hahaha. Oil changes are cheap as if you do it yourself lang.... My fuel budget per fortnight is $200. Most of that is taken up driving to and from work (65km's a day in the R), but it also allows me generally 1 cruise a fortnight and a bit of running around on the weekends. I think the only way I can afford my car on my wage is because I am very good with money & budgeting.
  18. Yeah I found that, the problem is I don't have a manual (to refer it to). I'm going to try and hook it up to a workshop's computer tomorrow and try to find out what it is. All it is, is a little red light flashing (the computer under the parcel shelf) when the 4wd light is illuminated on the dash....Hopefully i'll be able to make some sense of it soon haha. Edit: So is the diff just something you leave alone and never check / refresh the oil in? Sorry but my mechanical knowledge is fairly limited at this stage. Still got alot to learn
  19. First off have you tried cleaning the afm? My r32 gtr was having some issues (to start with I thought it was the spark plugs too, went out and bought all new ones and had them gapped correctly haha. Problem not solved), so I removed the pod filters, took off the afms and sprayed the wires (2 little wires running parallel with eachother) with an electrical cleaner spray. There was lots of dirt build up on mine. Once that's done, flush it (NOT with water, I can't remember if i used methylated spirits or another one. I always forget what the chemicals are called until I go to use them haha. Has a very low flash point anyway). Let it dry, re-fit and see how it goes. My car improved drastically after cleaning the afm's.
  20. Hey, Sorry but my post isn't actually helping you. I was just wondering if the front diff gets fluid from the reserviour in the boot (attessa / hicas reserviour), or if it has another one somewhere. I have been having some problems with my 4wd system in my r32 gtr but didn't even think to check the front diff....
  21. My car was gunmetal grey but had a blue respray. Had no issues at all with it...Plus the paint job being old and shabby was a bit of reassurance that it hadn't been stolen and put on the market....
  22. Man, I sooooooooooo wish that my car would be ready for this This is really the type of thing i'm interested in....If you happen to run one anytime from march onwards, can you please let me know!! I will probably try and make it up to spectate this time though. So bummed out that the car has issues and i'm missing out on this!!
  23. Hahaha quiet you I quite like the fact that when cops see my gtr, drive like idiots to get next to me (note: swerving across 3 lanes of traffic, changing their mind and swerving back across 1 lane, then change their minds again to go next to me), and see a female driving, they just mind their own business and drive on. Then again, most of the time I am well behaved on the streets, and when i'm not, I make damn sure it's the most appropriate place and time possible ie: out in the middle of nowhere, good visibility, roads I know well, and roads where there's very little possibility of there being any innocent bystanders that could get hurt if things went horribly wrong. I also think at this stage triskillion, there number of guys in performance cars is still greater than the number of girls, and I don't think anywhere near as many girls have been caught misbehaving. If you don't want the police to hassle you, drive like a nanna 9 times out of 10. Don't rev you're engine past 3500rpms, don't brake hard, don't accelerate quickly, don't squeal or smoke your tyres, and don't go around corners quickly. I find if you drive in a really predictable and sensible fashion, the police don't seem to notice you as much as if you are drawing attention to yourself.....I realise that this doesn't always work and isn't always the case, but it helps.
  24. It all depends on what you need done, and do you just want it fixed so that it is drivable or do you want it to be stronger and allow better performance? My engine rebuild was $3,256 I needed a new oil pump, purchased my own N1 it was about $400 brand new. One conrod was bent, can't remember how much that was. New bearings, gasket kit and machining...There was a couple of other things but I forget what. The engine was left in the car for the most part. The $3,256 was the total cost for the entire rebuild - parts, labour, machining etc....Admittedly all payments were cash. No complaints as to the job done though I regularly thrash my car and it stands up to it every time. 310ps @ all 4 wheels, 1.0 bar of boost, still overfueling and needing a re-tune as it hasn't had a proper one since it came over from japan....So yeah it is still fairly stock. My block needed quite alot of machining, which made up a large portion of the bill. All depends on what you want / need....
