  1. 8OO5TED,My old R32 GTR used to have the skyline "garnish" between the rear tail lights. And it was a real GTR. What I don't get is why are some of you putting comments in this thread about thinking the car looks dodgy in your own opinion, it's not cool to write things in someone's for sale thread that could be damaging to their sale, either PM the owner or if you're that concerned then why don't you discuss it with one of the moderators from this forum? I don't mean to sound defensive about this, but when I was selling my GTR someone talked cr@p about it that was completely unfounded, it's not nice and in my case it did throw a couple of people off...Just letting you guys know what it's like from the other side of the fence :|
  2. I'm sure I read somewhere an exception to that rule. From the factory wheel specs, you are legally allowed to increase the size (width or diameter) by 2". Therefore, 9" wide on a 32R is legal because they came out with 8" Agree that welshpool is good though! The inspector that saw my car for registration last year only failed it because the exhaust scraped really bad and the other inspectors were standing infront of their pits ready for the first cars of the morning, and they just turned and looked lol! He said he didn't like failing cars like ours because they are good cars, and a nice change from the *quote* " pieces of sh!t we get in here every day"
  3. My car gets similar economy to Gazza750's...R32 GTR, most km's i've ever had to a tank was 480, driving only in metro area. Usually get around 450 - 460. I run 0.9 bar of boost and i've worked out that with the mines rom, my car likes a bit of a poke for the first 1/4 to 1/3 of a tank as it seems to burn more efficiently or something. After that I drive it pretty tame, as the tune is very rich. High speed really chews through the juice - even just a short stint If I incorporate a cruise, i'll be lucky to make 400km to the tank. Car is my daily driver. If I fill up once the empty light is on, i'm looking at $85 - $90 for medium priced Ultimate 98 (I find the price ranges between 1.41 and 1.51 p/l). I get through that in less than a week. Car has a few nice mods but is relatively stock.
  4. If my car needs work I usually book the day off from my day job out of my holidays, so that I can take the car to the workshop and hang around until it's done and read a few magazines while they're working or something. If you're there, they'll usually let you jump in the passenger seat so that you are happy with the way they have driven the car. A little peace of mind To date, I have found that the vehicle inspectors at the pits / licensing centres are the worst for thrashing cars!! Sorry to hear about it though, it's never nice when you feel like someone has been disrespecting your property.
  5. I use Wheels World. I figure someone that aligns ferrari's and race cars on a regular basis is good enough for my GTR also has a wealth of knowledge and will happily set the car up to suit your particular driving style.
  6. Attessa is the name of the 4wd system that all GTR's have. It loads proportionate torque to the front wheels in certain situations such as when it senses wheel spin, level of G-force etc. There are numerous things to check if it is a problem with the attessa. Firstly check that all your fuses are in, as pulling the fuse is a common way for people to get the cars to run in RWD mode. Is the 4WD light illuminated on the dash? Could also be related to diffs or hicas if it's not the attessa. There's heaps of things to check with the attessa and if you don't know much about it then it's probably best that you send it to a trusted performance workshop and have them check it out for you.
  7. Is it hanging the tail out or are the wheels spinning as if it's a normal rwd car? Check that the attessa is working if it's the second of the 2. Don't forget that GTR's aren't full time 4wd, nothing much happens with the 4wd system until it detects loss of traction etc, so they can be a bit wilder than you may expect with the rear end. Attessa is a reactive system, meaning that it has to sense when it is needed and then kick in so there is a small time delay. How is the tread on your tyres also? Your problem could be related to a number of things...
  8. Item obtained. Could the mods please remove this thread. Thanks
  9. I prefer the pits at welshpool. They are alot more lenient and not picky on stupid sh!t that doesn't matter...Will only pip you for important stuff. Just be nice
  10. Yeah that's her. She does quite alot of swimwear comps in general. Actually we're both part of a model group that generally do alot of the comps at pubs n clubs etc, I don't do the comps myself - I stick to photo shoots (and not ones with cars haha). I modeled with her last year at the australian superbike championship - we were the yamaha flag girls on the grid hehe. Nice chick!
  11. Well I have used the Meguiars NXT generation tech wax stuff, and it is easily the best product I have ever used personally. My car is dark blue but it is very bright underneath - you can only really see this in sunlight or under certain lights. My paint job was very neglected when the car arrived from Japan over a year ago, and I have tried so many different things on it that it wasn't funny. But this stuff was amazing. My paint went from being blotchy (the brightness underneath was blotchy, not the surface), dark, dull and boring to being even and absolutely brilliant. It is really bright now and just looks fantastic. The shine produced is also much better than any polish i've ever used. The best $40 i've ever spent. I would happily recommend this product to anyone with a dark car. I also notice that the bottle version of the wax (this is what I used) is larger than normal bottles of polish. This product gets nothing but praise from me
  12. I applied it in a circular motion as with every other meguiars product I have come across, worked fine.
  13. Have you made sure that you haven't got the lock on? You may have accidentally knocked the button at some stage which would explain why the passenger can't put it down but you can.
  14. Hi there, I had this same problem with my GTR but I actually noticed a difference in the car's behaviour first. In the boot under the parcel shelf there is a computer with an LED that flashes. It will just keep cycling through so next time you start the car and the light comes on, pop the boot and get yourself in there so that you can see the led. Count the number of flashes. If it pauses and then just flashes the same number of times again, then you're done. Refer the code to a manual or you can take it to a workshop and have them refer it for you. If there is more than one error code, the first one will flash, short pause, then the next one and so on. For example, my computer flashes 9 times, short pause, 8 times, short pause, 18 times, long pause and then repeats the cycle. Have you checked the fluid level in the reserviour in the boot? This is behind the trim on the right between the back of the wheel arch and the tail light. Hopefully the error codes from the computer will give you your answer, because there are so many different things it could be. If the fluid level is fine then I would bleed the system (nipple at back of the transfer case and above the diff) to make sure there isn't any air. Check that your tyre sizes & profiles are the same, as different sizes can damage the diff. The important thing to remember with this in mind is the rolling diameter must be the same. To be completely honest with you, having been what I have been through, I would just send it to a workshop. But if you want to, you may as well check as much as you can yourself first. Check the sensors underneath your centre console, if the indicator is white then they should be fine, if it's red then it's probably a wise idea to replace them. When was your front diff oil last changed? The next things that I know of are worn clutch packs in the transfer case or a pump that is on the way out. Best of luck with it. And on a finishing note i'd like to say thank you to Duncan and GTRKen from these forums for your help and patience with my attessa questions and problems. I'd also like to thank my workshop of choice for diagnosing the problem when i'd had enough of trying to figure it out for myself (Speedworks) haha.
  15. Well i'm not meant to cruise until I get some stuff sorted out with my car, so it looks like i'll miss this cruise as well! Needs a new attessa pump and has another issue that i'm in the process of nutting out fingers crossed that it will be all sorted out around the end of march....
  16. Well i've had the rear bushes done in my car as well. The whole lot was done with a whiteline kit (front and rear). And i'm really happy with it...I think I have already mentioned that after the front was done the difference was really noticable! And now that the rear has been done the car just feels really tight (it's great). Still need new coilovers, but it has definately made a difference. That said I have been in cars with extremely stiff suspension and had to get used to it, so stiffness doesn't really bother me because of the handling benefits (when the set up is correct). I personally find it is much better for motorsport because you don't get much bodyroll and the car is far more responsive in terms of handling. I put up with a set up that isn't perfect for the street because i'm happy to make that compromise. My car is my daily driver and just to and from work I do 65km's a day....Either way can't complain. I just can't wait to see how much better it is for motorsport. I personally can't say I think that the whiteline kit is dangerous for street use at all. But I guess we all have different opinions and levels on what we think is acceptable and not-acceptable. Sorry about your bad experience with the whiteline stuff Justin, seems unfortunate. I couldn't be happier with mine PS: Sydney kid, I asked my tyre & aligner guy about corner weighing my car and sorting that out, and he wasn't in favour of the idea! He told me that it's a waste of time unless you have a full on race car / are really serious about motorsport. Perhaps this is why so many street cars are all over the place as you put it? There's been some really good info and opinions in this topic
  17. I use Dom at Prestige Exhaust in malaga...Service, workmanship and price were all great.
  18. Looking forward to seeing your next post My R32 GTR came over with TODA Fightex coilovers in it. They were stuffed but they were absolutely perfect after they had been rebuilt. Unfortunately due to being old, one of them has been a bit of a pain and if it fails again i'm not sure what i'll do I've just had fully adjustable polyurethane bushes in the front, and the car should be going back to have the rear end done shortly (parts didn't arrive in time). I think they're great. I'm not sure what brand they are or anything like that though, as i'm having the whole lot done by a suspension shop. Certainly can't complain about the results though - I can feel the difference in the car already (in a good way)! Is your car going to be set up strictly for track? Or will it be a nice inbetween for street and track? I'd like to have an "inbetween" style set up once i've got the maintenance issues sorted out on my car, hit the track and see what I think (haven't been on a track yet, wanna know how much I like it first hehe). I'm not overly worried about tyre wear but i'd definately be interested to know the specs that are nice for both street and track use, as my car is also my daily driver
  19. This is the last time i'm going to bother. I'm sick to the bone of repeating myself because some of you people can't be bothered reading things properly. Seriously, before you come in with a comment it's best you do your research first. Kill HSV, my initial contribution to this thread was about lack of driver training and the speed limits being so low that people don't pay attention. It had nothing to do with IQ. SKY031 was the one that said: "I'd love to see the introduction of IQ testing to go hand in hand with licencing. Stupid people simply shouldn't be able to get behind the wheel of a 2 tonne lethal weapon" Get your facts straight...
  20. Yet again, you have failed to back up what you are saying. You are the one who chose the term "scumbag jobs" and said that I was assuming they were all stupid. Then you make out that I am saying people in these jobs should not be able to drive - learn to read would you? Again, i'm going to suggest you re-read my initial post that you seem to have been so offended by. Here, I have copied and pasted a portion of it for your convenience: "At the end of the day alot of important people in our society aren't the brightest sparks - we need people to be garbo's and roadworkers, and they need to be able to get to and from their jobs. Realistically, we'd be screwed without them. Don't get me wrong, it sounds great in theory. Some days i'd love it if we had an annual idiot-cull! But it's just not practical...Our society needs stupid people just as much as it needs highly intelligent people. It's that thing called balance " Saying that in general people that work in certain fields aren't the brightest sparks is not saying they are idiots - i'm saying they're not the most intelligent of the pack. I did not even use the word stupid in conjunction with those jobs. For the record, here I have copied and pasted part of you post, wasn't planning on it initially otherwise I would have quoted it: "I doubt it's so much lack of training, it's more a lack of common sense. I'd love to see the introduction of IQ testing to go hand in hand with licencing. Stupid people simply shouldn't be able to get behind the wheel of a 2 tonne lethal weapon. There is also the issue of multiculturalism, a lot of people who live here don't have english as their first language. This has to be an issue when it comes to reading saftey notices, signs, warnings, etc" Lets not confuse what you said with what I said. As for "Perhaps if I wasn't one of the "stupid people" I may have some idea of what you were trying to convey?" - how many times do I have to spell it out for you? If you took the time to read my posts properly, it would more than likely explain why no one else has had a problem understanding them.... Edit: Just remembered this bit: "The point I was making is you can't descriminate against people just because they may be less fortunate in some way or another with the exception of people who are mentally and physically disabled in a way that means they would be dangerous and are unable to obtain a license (by our current standards)."
  21. Where exactly did I belittle them...I said they were important people in our society. Those jobs were examples. I thought this was pretty obvious. I guess not... The point I was making is you can't descriminate against people just because they may be less fortunate in some way or another with the exception of people who are mentally and physically disabled in a way that means they would be dangerous and are unable to obtain a license (by our current standards). Just because someone may have an IQ of 80 instead of the average of 90, does that mean they shouldn't be allowed a license? I have an IQ of 125, does that make me some arrogant, stuck up person who has money coming out of every orifice, a brand new car which I don't give a crap about and I don't care about other road users because chances are I am intellectually superior to them? No! That also, was an example. I do not think for a second that what you said was aimed at me. So perhaps you shouldn't be so quick to take things the way they were not intended...I have re-read my post, and I really can't see how you could have taken it the wrong way.
  22. I wouldn't worry about it. My rears stick out a good 5mm from the guards (if you put a ruler on the outside of the guard haha), I have cops behind me all the time and i've never been pulled over. I don't think the cops really care hey. Well they don't seem to over here.... It also helps to have a good driving record, not attract attention to yourself and not have anything else obviously wrong with the car. My car isn't low and it's pretty plain, and I drive in a conservative fashion most of the time.
  23. Yes a lack of common sense is a big issue but I think driver training could raise the standards a great deal. When people don't have much common sense, you have to actually TEACH them things, not just expect them to know. IQ tests, well personally I think they have to be flawed, because they were made by man (meaning human, not targeting males here). At the end of the day alot of important people in our society aren't the brightest sparks - we need people to be garbo's and roadworkers, and they need to be able to get to and from their jobs. Realistically, we'd be screwed without them. Don't get me wrong, it sounds great in theory. Some days i'd love it if we had an annual idiot-cull! But it's just not practical...Our society needs stupid people just as much as it needs highly intelligent people. It's that thing called balance
  24. Unless you have NCB protection then you will lose some of your NCB. It has nothing to do with the fact that you were not at fault, if the insurance company cannot recover their costs then the claim goes against you. It's the same as when some retard hits your car when it's parked and drives off. Sorry to hear what happened to you! I'd source my own quotes before going through insurance. And when you're getting the quote, don't tell them it's going through insurance, coz it will come out higher. A couple of years back I was quoted $1100 odd to fix a tiny ding in the front of the corolla. I paid cash to a panel beater and it was fixed PROPERLY for $300 lol. Panel beaters rip insurance companies off, because they can. Best of luck with it
  25. Sorry guys but i'm giong to say that I think it's the fact that we have practically NO driver training, it is WAY too easy to get your license these days. Yesterday I was behind a p-plater who was all over the road, then we got to a roundabout which is blocked off so that traffic cannot come from other directions - there are those big red and white coates hire style barriers everywhere, and the idiot suddenly slams on their brakes and STOPS! I'd like to point out that the visibility in that particular spot is more than satisfactory. I see so many idiots on the road it is beyond a joke. In my opinion, people either lack skill / training, common sense or they are so far up themselves that they don't give a damn about other road users. I also think our low speed limits (here in perth) play a major factor in driver's not concentrating. Think about it - when you are going faster, you sure as hell aren't talking on your mobile phone or thinking about your plans for the weekend (or shaving / putting on make up lol). The only thing you're focused on is the road and what is happening around you - You're alert. I'd be interested to see what would happen if a majority of the speed limits in perth were raised by 10km/h, with the exception of school zones.
