  1. I have the same problem with my Tomei 310 km/h speedo, reading progressively out. I didn't have the money to recalibrate it (Tisco told me it would be $250 just for them to hook up their equipment), I borrowed someone's GPS and made note of the speeds that way
  2. I had this a little while ago. Replaced my (r/f) outer tie rod end and don't have the problem anymore. It started out as vibration, and I knew my wheels were correctly balanced and aligned and I had pretty new tyres so couldn't be that. Then it got to the point where it felt so bad I thought my wheel was going to fall of while I was driving, coz the steering wheel was moving from left to right quite violently and I could feel the wheel wasn't moving straight at all. If you go aftermarket you can get them as cheap as $22 each, but I chose to go genuine Nissan because it will last so much longer than an aftermarket one, which set me back $117.17 (for the one only, going to do the other front outer tie rod end this week). This is the price for the part only. Forgot to mention, I have spacers as well and have never had any kind of problem with them. If one of your wheels is not straight or has a ding in it, you should really get it fixed.
  3. I'm pretty sure the competitor gates open at 5pm, racing begins at 6pm. I'll be down in a couple of weeks when the car is back together, it'll be my first time at the plex to drive as well good luck with it!
  4. Make sure you get the fitment to suit bigger brakes. Most of the japanese wheel brands I have searched have 2 different fitments, but alot of cheaper brands will not. I'm in the process of trying to find some nice rims for my 32 GTR as well, good luck with it
  5. Stay away from major supermarkets if you want good asian groceries, go to lucky import & export co on brisbane street in perth / northbridge.
  6. It's cool reading about other chics that drive GTR's!! I have an R32 GTR. My dad used to race in open circuit classes back in the 70's, my brother raced karts for 8 years or something and was always up the top regardless of if it was state or national competition, so I think racing is in my blood! I can't wait to get to the drags and sprints and track etc. I started watching performance vids with my brother when I was about 15...I'm 21 now and think that imports will always have a special place in my heart and my garage hehe Mine got licensed at the end of March, i'm slowly doing him up, hoping to be able to hit the track in about 2 years. It's my daily driver though so for the near future it has to be sensible lol. My family all think it's cool, and my dad never fails to mention at every opportunity that his little girl drives a GTR. So yeah I understand the car fetish
  7. Those calculators are ok, but I didn't think the results were significant if you are going up ie: from 16" to 17", and also increasing the width? I should probably start a seperate topic for this, but seeing as some of you have mentioned spacers, I was under the impression that spacers were illegal? I have the proper hub plates, that bolt onto the hub and then have their own bolts that come out so you can put the wheel on....Have any of you heard this or had any trouble with the pits / defect notices due to spacers?
  8. I got a drive in-drive out quote on a full set of these for the GTR (17"). $1610. So yeah just a tad expensive. But they guy there said they grip like nothing else and they leave Bridgestone Potenza's for dead. I use Sumitomo HTRZ ii (may have got those letters around the wrong way) on it at the moment, didn't have a great deal to spend and also have way too much camber on the rears that doesn't have any adjustment, so not much point spending big $$$ on tyres when they inners are going to wear out so quickly. 235/45/17 (front, due to the rims on the car cannot fit a bigger tyre, yes i know difference in tyre size can damage the diff) were $198 each fitted & balanced, 255/40/17 (rears) were $298 each fitted & balanced. Car came over with near bald tyres on it, potenza's on the front and falken zeix on the rear. I agree with you guys in saying the zeix are shitty tyres, could explain why after a drizzle of rain I ended up going over all 3 lanes of albany hwy in multiple directions after turning a corner (and not touching the accelerator, I was driving VERY CAREFULLY)....I wouldn't go with them again after an experience like that. I'm more than satisfied with the Sumitomo's on it now.
  9. Ok guys I just have one little question. I had a look at the calculator but I can't use it I don't have enough information. R32 GTR 17 x 9 rims should a +22 offset fit without needing spacers etc? I have 17 x 9's on there now but they are the wrong offset and need spacer plates all the way around. Just want to make sure before I order these new rims, that the +22 will be ok? There are no sizing charts, previously I wanted SSR Professor's for it and the relevant sizing was +19, and when I spoke to my tyre guy he told me +25. I'm now getting different rims due to SSR going bankrupt, and the imitations of the Professor don't come in 17". Thanks
  10. Yeah my right front one is shagged out on the GTR too. I keep thinking yeah I need to get that done, but didn't know where to start. A few people have said to me that I should be able to get a new bush pressed into the existing outer tie rod end. Have any of you guys heard of this? And do I just do the one that's crappy, or should I get them all done? Thanks
  11. That's what i'm trying to get across - pay a little bit more from the pocket in the beginning and get so much more back. Good insurance companies will not apply an excess or deduct any of your no claim bonus if you have details of the third party (who was at fault). Just don't get caught out guys.
  12. Another thing with companies such as RAC, is if you are involved in an accident which you are not at fault (ie, someone ran into the back of you), RAC will take away some of your no claim bonus, until they have recovered all money from the third party. Which ofcourse can and will effect your renewal premium, if the third party has not paid up every cent prior to the date your renewal is processed. If you have a 60% no claim bonus, it really is worth getting NCB protection. This allows you one at fault claim per year without losing any of your NCB. Very handy for incidents such as when someone damages your car in a carpark, and drives off leaving no details. Because the insurance company have no one to recover off, you are at fault. Again, it is 100% your choice, and you have to assess your priorities and what is appropriate for you. For some of us, saving money is on the top of the list. Just make sure you read the booklet (aka policy wording) you get with your renewal some time, and make sure it is what you really want. And if you don't understand something, then ask someone experienced in the industry.
  13. Ok guys I work for an insurance broker in Perth. And I can pretty much tell you, when it comes to imports and modified cars you get what you pay for. Go for a cheap policy, and the wording is full of holes, not giving you the cover you need for such a car. I am 20 and have an R32 GTR, 1 accident, no claims, couple of minor speeding fines, and my insurance based on $25,000 agreed value was $3,460 with Just Car, and the excesses were through the roof, or $3,800 with Shannon's and only $1,100 excess. RAC and HBF are fine for the little bomb that you don't really care about, but their claims services are NOT good nor are their policies. Obviously I can't afford to go comprehensive, so i'm going to go third party only. Another point worth noting is that on third party fire & theft policies, there is a value limit of $5,000. Remember that shannon's is for car enthusiasts, and yes they do ask you about this ie: competitions, licenses, training etc. Personally i'd rather pay a little bit higher premium, knowing that I am with a stable and well established company, that covers everything I want and has a great claims service. Like Shannon's. Another one worth trying is Famous, you can call them on (08) 9388 8733 They do comprehensive cover only. And they told me for my car it would be no more than $3,000 premium. Can also try Dawes on 1800 807 463, Unique on (03) 9898 9400 or Vigil on 1300 134 054 Hope this helps. If you have any more questions, feel free to ask
  14. I have a pair of white SSR Professor SP1 rims for sale with the SSR centre caps: 17 x 7" + 37 offset Should fit most 5 stud Nissan's, and they also fit an FC3S RX-7 Great condition, one rim has 2 tiny stone chips on it, other than that no blemishes Price: $500 negotiable I am getting the exact same rims for my GTR, but obviously I need different sizing. You are most welcome to come and have a look at them. PM me if you would like further details or if you have any questions.
