  1. As a personal import..... might not be impossible. Provided you've had it for a year or two, and can prove it. check out http://www.dotars.gov.au/transport/safety/.../importing.aspx for more info, or else I'm sure someone else here will know more about personal imports than me. As far as I am aware, it still needs a form of compliance (fuel restricter, fluids replaced, etc.) but it's much less than a sevs import. check it out, and contact the road dept in your state for better info.
  2. Got mine today via express post, look great, light weight, can't wait to get em on the RB-20. Thanks mate -Josh
  3. I agree completely. The problem is, driving a true 4wd is very different from driving a regular car. I cannot express how much it shits me to see the toorak tractors parked near the kids schools. It is so far beyond idiocy it's almost a darwinian evolutionary process. Parents get big trucks, kids run out form in between them, and get hit by another 'SUV', thus the imbecillic parents line does not continue and their genes are removed from the gene pool. 4wd's and kids are a terrible mixture. Hell, 4wd's and cities are a crap pair. I still firmly beleive that a 4wd vehicle (and maybe even AWD) should require a seperate license. Any about the porsche cayenne mentioned earlier, it's a piece of crap. Sure, it's specs are good, but for $150K, you could buy a pajero and bring it to near Dakkar spec. Point it in a direction, and it'll bring you the horizon. OK, so maybe the Porsche isn't all bad, but to me any 4wd that does not go off of tarmac is a waste, and If you wanted to go off roading, there are far better ways to spend your cash than on a porsche cayenne. I'd happily steam roll all the bastards. Bah, don't worry about me, I'm just still pissed that no one worthy has bought my pathfinder yet. One bloke wanted me to throw in some road tyres and also to remove the UHF, bull bar and boot esky for free. I think my look was somewhere between hatred and complete disgust. What's worse is that he was already driving a new pajero. I have no problem with people who like to drive 4wd's, as long as it is for a purpose that isn't egocentric or masturbatory, which leaves about a dozen people in the whole city. -end rant.
  4. Well, the cat back is an HKS hipower silent, made specifically for the HNR?HCR-32, but the front/dump and cat were from BOS group buy. It seems all sweet, but I guess it's out by a few mm. Not that I'm complaining, the pipe looks fantastic, and is well made, it just means I'll have to fabricate a bracket, or find some way to make it work.
  5. Hey, just wondering if you can source a PFC to suit the R32 GTS-4 (Hnr-32) I'd assume it's the same as the GTS-t, but because of the awd, I thought it best to ask. Anyway, looks good.
  6. It's banging up and down, so I can either make up a bracket to keep it low (I already have about 2 cm clearance) or get newer, stiffer rubbers that are a little longer.
  7. I've got a solid front/dump pipe in one. It does seem like it could move to the drivers side though. I'm going to try the rubbers, if that does not work, I'm going to have to cut a wedge out of the pipe and reweld to improve the angle.
  8. Yeah, I jacked it up and checked it all out. The cat brace is kosher, the problem seems to be the rubbers. They are about 2 inches long, and should be about 3. This would allow the exhaust to drop a bit lower, but the solid rubber would prevent the rebound which is causing the knock. I'll check out some suppliers and see if I can organise these, Has anyone else had anything like this before?
  9. Hey guys, thanks for the advice, but: The bolts are tight. Damn tight. All the rubbers are in, the two at the rear, and the one on the side. The brace near the cat is on, and I might be able to adjust it enough to clear the b pillar brace. I'm giving it a go tomorrow. The problem is that the b pillar area is a fair way from the cat. I was really hoping I'd missed a mounting point somewhere around that area that would bring it down about 2 cm, but apparantly not.
  10. Hey everyone I've installed a 3 inch turbo back HKS silent system, and going downhill, it's all sweet, but uphill it bangs against the chassis just near the B pillar. Just wondering if anyone else has had this issue, I was thinking of getting a brace fabricated somehow, but am not sure where to attach it. I might need to go to a workshop and have them do it, but I was just wondering if anyone else has come across this, or is it just one of those things?
  11. Hey guys. I just got an email from pickles auctions, I signed up to them ages ago, but have since bought my car, though in this austion, they have about a dozen skylines, mostly R34's. Anyway, thought I'd pass the info along. Here's the link. http://www.pickles.com.au/servlet/Auction/..._id_0=100001099 As far as I can tell, all cars are there for viewing, complied and rego'd. Wish they'd give people more notice though. Anyway, just thought I'd share, on the off chance that someone in the market does not get this email. Maybe they can pick up a bargain. Good luck. pickles.pdf
  12. quite interested, where is it located, and can we get any pics at all, even just sitting on the ground?
  13. You Are 74% Evil You are very evil. And you're too evil to care. Those who love you probably also fear you. A lot. ... not entirely innacurate.....
  14. ^^^ All awesome suggestions However, no advice is free, we expect pics when this monster is done. And I reserve the right to act ina manner that is insanely jealous and cry like a baby if you crash it.
  15. I can kind of see the theory behind this. Liquids and gasses can move better into a tube when in a vortex. A quick demonstration is to fill up a coke bottle with water, and then turn it upside down, you get the bubbles coming up, and water coming out in bursts, but spin it around to create a vortex, and it pours out much easier. I imagine that this theory is to get the air spinning inside the pipes means that it'll all be at a constant speed, not banging against the pipe walls at bends in a pipe. Having said all that, the device looks to be too restrictive to actually work. I expect any increase in performance would be more due to the K & N filter allowing more air in than the stock air box, rather than the vortex making device. Also, a turbo DOES send the air spinning in a vortex, so it's a bit redundant. I award the inventor no points, and may god have mercy on his soul.
  16. Fully agree. I own a 2002 Nissan Pathfinder, which has been modified for off road use. It has done many tours of the top end, has a few dents and scratches here and there, but is a great car. However, I do not need it anymore, so I'm selling it. Now. The amount of people that have seen it who do not know sh!t about 4wd's is amazing. They do not want 4wd's, but just toorak tractors. The pathfinder has old man emu rear suspension, dual batteries, roo bar, esky built in to the boot, luggage cage and off road tyres on it. The first guy was adamant that a second battery would not fit, and that it sounded dodgy. I popped the bonnet and showed him the place that it was installed, and how easily it fits there. Another guy said he liked it, but wanted a sunroof, cruise control and the stereo keys on the steering wheel. I pointed out that it HAS cruise control, and a sunroof on a vehicle with a top mounted basket was a bit redundant. But the bloke who took the cake was one who complained about a 'weird noise' when driving. He said the tyres vibrated, which they do around corners, because they are knobby off road tyres. He is probably still adamant that these tyres are illegal. I simply said that it's been through an inspection since I came to melbourne from regional NSW, but, well, he's a tool. So in short, of the dozen or so people who have checked it out, not one has known the first thing about the capabilities, dangers or purpose of a 4wd. Makes me sad that i have to sell it to someone who is probably never going to use 4wd mode, except to park on the nature strip. This car has literally saved my life when I was bitten by a brown snake, crashing through a few K's of scrub to get to a main road, and menindee 'hospital' Having said all that, it might seem I'm hard on my vehicles. I am, but I take care. All dents are sucked out if possible, car has fluids changed after every trek, and I use premium fluids and fuel. Maybe I just hate the fact that it seems there are only pretenders buying 4wd's in melbourne. I beleive that 4wd's should be a seperate class of license, which should include a full practical off road driving test. Send em bouncing and bumping back to toorak. One last word: WTF is with the Porsche 4wd? I cannot see that going through an overflowing gutter, much less a muddy river. ....And I'm spent.
  17. I need some vents also, but I was thinking.... Surely it's possible to get a better solution than replacing them with stock items? Does anyone know of someone who makes them form (say) aluminium? Maybe some harder wearing plastic? Because I get the feeling that buying second hand will just make the problem come back in 12 months, and even buying new might only give a year or two of respite.
  18. ......... I have to tell you something......... I see married people!
  19. O2 sensor goes to the back, passenger side. Check out the DIY thread, it's got a full run down on the process that's pretty good.
  20. OK, the pipe is on, but, true to my luck, there is still one problem. one bolt (the centre line passenger side) won't go in. It just does not bite the thread and bore in. Naturally, it's the hardest to get to. I've tried a new bolt, more WD-40, extra force in all to no effect. I even tried to get a smaller bolt in there, but there is no room for the nut. Any suggestions? Just how necessary is the middle bolt? (I've got the 4 corner ones in fine, and the centre drivers side went in too) The cat and cat back is on no worries.
  21. OK, got the bitch tonight. To others trying this, a couple of things. 1. you'll need to cut a 13mm spanner (I used a ring one) in half to get the top drivers nut. 2. There is no such thing as too much WD-40. Spray that stuff on there until your eyes water, then spray some more. 3. Anyone want to buy a stock exhaust, front pipe, cat and dump pipe?
  22. 1. Not illegal 2. Would no more scratch paint than running a cloth over it would. Not illegal. 3. Whilst not legal, it's easily remedied, and not something the police would bother with. 4. true, making a false report probably isn't legal, but hey, to smite one's enemies, sometmes you gotta take a risk. 5. True, this is theft. Beter to put them in plain sight, but in an area inaccessable to him. Maybe up a flag pole, or somewhere where he says "How the hell did he get them there?" 6. Not entirely illegal 7. Not entirely illegal Technically, the wood behind the tyres could be a form of vandalism, as could most pranks, but police generally have much better things to do. Legality is often a matter of what you can get away with, as anyone with a PFC, Pod and cooler or various other mods would attest to.
  23. The problem with the heatshield is the wo bolts on the side, There is only a couple cm clearance, so a socket is out, and there's very little gap to actually move a spanner. And underneath, same problem, I can get the spanner on, but can't revolve it, and getting the leverage is tricky (I stripped a socket already, hence the WD40) I just thought I must have been doing something wrong, as most people have called it a 1/2 hour job, but when the cars just up on some wheel ramps, and all I have are a few 13mm spanners and some shifters, it makes things trickier. Oh well, Off to bunnings.
