you've lost me.....what is the post above all about? what 19's?

Hey, guys, after going through the for sale section and not finding any rims I'm 100% on in either 18 or 19, and preferring some 19s I'm seriously considering some new Work Meister S1 19x10s for the car. I can't find any pics of R33 GTRs on these rims...plenty of 32s and 34s, I'm wondering if the reason for this is that they don't really look any good on them or suit terribly well. Anyway, before I outlay mega bucks on the rims, can anyone help me out with pics to get an idea of how they'll look??? thanks

managed a 12.70@108mph, with an average 1.8 60ft, first run was a bogged 2.3 60ft 13.66 which had me thinking the car wasn't as quick as I may have thought. Then got 2x 12.7's with sweeter launches....and the final run I decided to try and slip the clutch rather than dump it and I guess button clutches don't like that too much and it stuck to the floor and I couldn't get any gears! Happy with that time......for now, time to do some mods!

yeah maybe I am procrastinating, but ultimately I want 19s and am waiting for soemthing to pop up, but these are damn good looking wheels!!! I'm just not 100% sure if they'll fit straight on with no scrubbing and sit in the guards nicely as I'm not really up on width and offsets, even though I know 10.5 will fit. I don't want to hand over my cash, get them sent up and they don't fit properly, so the more people that assure me they'll fit, the better! Currenlt my car has 18x9.5 +12 white TE37's on it, so its not a huge change in rims, but I do like these as a change I'd like to know what acr they came off? and seeing as I don't need the tyres, whats the lowest you'd go minus the tyres if $3k is with tyres?
-
can you 100% guarantee me these will fit perfectly onto an R33 GTR? if not how can I find out if that offset and width will fit....anyone know for sure?
-
well I'm heading out to Willowbank tonight to give the car a run to get a base time and mph so I can see what my mods do as far as time/mph improvements! Hopefully the rain stays away and the chilly nights stay around, and a 12 something would be good!

Well I'd like the timing belt etc done as its at 80k and I'd like to do it so I figured the same thing as Beer Baron, plus I'm not going to skimp on this setup like I may have quite a few years ago not having the income and would like to do everything right the first time and in one hit and not have it back to the workshop for additions later!

the tune is where its at, and with the Haltech I have faith that the tune will be 100% what it needs to be. and running upgraded coilpacks and FMIC plus replacing other 10yr old parts purely for precautions sake can't be a bad thing, even though some say don't bother, I'd rather the piece of mind!
-
nope. Uras - while the turbos are off, you may aswell chuck on some dumps, the rest of the system is done, so its just something I figure I'd do at the time. I've been told cams really won't make a huge difference, but the gears will for getting settings right.

This car has an exhaust and pods only, no other mods except the computer(as the stocker shat itself) which would allow very good tunability so it is setup right. It has only ever been run on premium fuels and 12psi, probably less boost in Japan as the 12 was only done with the Haltech, it has also been very well looked after and serviced religiously. So my guess is that it is a very well taken care of engine. I don't expect it to last forever, but on an everyday setting of still just 12psi, it shouldn't be an issue, only very rarely will it see high boost and any sort of hard driving.....we aren't talking 20psi all day every day and foot to the floor driving.....why would a motor expire with low boost and pretty normal driving, its under no more pressure with the mods than it is now! I'm not concerned with how long it will last, if it gets tired, I'd rebuild, properly, but no point doing that now when the motor should be in pretty decent condition. Might look into other pumps though....any suggestions on other intank options?

Ok, just to reply to everyone that has made a point. A walbro will be fine, feed up to 700hp, maybe an 044 in tank setup, but I will not be going externals or surge tanks as I drive this car 3-4 times a week to work, don't want the extra noise, don't want the extra stink and want it to remain legal, plus the intanks can supply for that power easy! Turbos with ex housing that size would be a bit laggy, I want responsiveness close to the factory setup.....and 2560's are more than capable of mid 11s. What psi do you make the 290kw on? Perhaps I'll realistically only shoot for 330kw then, seeing as that's probably all I need for the time I want....but it would be nice to have some extra. I use my car as a semi-daily, doesn't have to be at all, but I want it to be. The plan is to run about 12psi all day every day, which would be a very safe amount for the stock motor and still give me high 200kw's for some fun, and switch it to 18psi or there abouts for a smash or a few runs at the track!! Its already got a pretty new button clutch in it, so that isn't a concern....FMIC probably not needed, but its my wanky side coming in and wanting a shiny one I looked at modded ones, to trashed and too much of the unknown, and now I know why I buy stock cars and mod them myself, may cost more, but piece of mind knowing what I'VE done and done properly. More fun this way too. Plus the one I bought is in top nick, with some nice expensive bits on it like CF parts, TE37s and the Haltech already! The same power as yours would be fine for me, and your setup sounds pretty much like what I want. How do you feel running 20+psi on a stock motor?....I don't want a big single, I want it to look fairly stock when you pop the bonnet. fieds83- great power and great time/mph....that would be nice, but I won't be counting on that power with a stock motor, nor on that time/mph! Thanks for the help guys.....I think the setup I've got listed seems to be the go....but maybe on slightly less boost for the high setting with a little less power for safety reasons....but it will be more than enough to snag me my mid 11 if I drive it right!
-
stock internals, maybe not quite as high as 20psi, maybe 18psi, but I've been told 20psi on a stock low(ish) klms motor is pretty safe. I'm not concerned with loud pumps, I've had cars with external 044 etc in the boot, so any in tank pump should be quiet in comparison!

horsepowerinabox.com -7 320hp -5 350hp -10 400hp which doesn't go in a numerical order, so you may be right!

OK, so I've always wanted a 33 GTR and finally got one but prior to now I have never really looked into what mods to do to them so this is all a bit new to me. Been reading some posts on here, magazines etc and come up with a list of bolt on mods I want to do and would like some advice on the list and what I should add or shouldn't bother with. Looking for 330-350AWKW and mid 11s at over 120mph. The car currently has 80k on the clock(or so it says anyway, but no reason to think it doesn't) a 3 or 3.5in(not 100% sure) stainless exhaust(no dumps), HKS pods, Haltech E11v2. my list: Garrett GT2560 -5(350hp) x2 Twin Dumps remove the AFM's and get decent size filter to turbo pipes, new pods and a sealed airbox Walbro in tank pump Fuel pressure reg. 740cc injectors Splitfire Coilpacks Tomei 260ish/260ish cams(any suggestions here?) Adjustable cam gears(Tomei/HKS) Aftermarket Intercooler(any suggestions for nice sized, thick, direct bolt on options?) retune with twin maps on Haltech with 0.8/0.9 bar and 1.4 bar switchable Then I'd be curious if most of the stock stuff is stuff you can sell, are people interested in buying stock turbos, coilpacks, inj, cams/gears etc, I'd imagine they are, the cooler would go pretty easily I'd think. Anyway, any help, advice or suggestions would be great. Thanks

a few questions. What car did these come off? What size tyres? Can you take a close up picture of any damages and post them here? Thanks -
Whirring Noise When Clucth Is Depressed?
QIK_GTR replied to QIK_GTR's topic in Suspension, braking, tyres and drivetrain
hmmmm, yep that would have been the noise in the S14 then, the GTR has it too, but very very lightly compared to the 200. I spoke to the fella that had done some of the work on the car with the previous owner, he seems to think its the spigot bearing/bush. The clucth is pretty well new and he did the throw out bearing at the time and doesn't think that would be it, but yeah, could be either he says. You've explained it well URAS and you are pretty much on the money, ignore my gearbox workings ignorance.....I should try to learn a bit more before I speak! -
Whirring Noise When Clucth Is Depressed?
QIK_GTR replied to QIK_GTR's topic in Suspension, braking, tyres and drivetrain
ah ok, it doesn't sound like the usual throw out bearing whir, my S14 used to make what I call a throw out bearing noise, but that was when you lifted your foot off the pedal and left it in neutral....it would make a very light click then it would make a constant humming kind of noise but it would be there every time you were in neutral, not just the first few times in the morning....this is the opposite, its when I put my foot on the pedal to select a gear and reverse out of my garage it makes a pretty loud friction sounding kind of noise, then back to neutral, no noise whiel I shut the garage and then back on to reverse some more and more noise, which then goes after a few more depressions and doesn't do it by the time I'm driving off down the road!?!?!? I've been around cars for a while, and this noise does not sound like a usual clutch/box noise to me.....this is my first AWD car and thought it might have had something to do with that being a different setup to what I'm used to, so thats why I'm throing it out there to you guys....I know the throw out bearing noise, and to me this doesn't seem like it, its a bit too loud and it goes away, might go have it looked at...problem is, by the time I get to a shop, it won't do it!!!! -
so why would you go 2860's over 2560's or visa versa.....sorry for the noobie question, but GTRs are new to me and i'm not down with the techno knowledge? I'm wanting to do a twin upgrade amongst other things and am not 100% sure which way to go. Thanks

Whirring Noise When Clucth Is Depressed?
QIK_GTR replied to QIK_GTR's topic in Suspension, braking, tyres and drivetrain
simple as that hey, you reckon that for sure? Is this something I should have done straight away....or as I am planning on sending it to a workshop in the next month or so for some mods to the engine I can leave it until then to have that issue sorted aswell? Obviously this is a box out repair job? Thanks -
Hey guys, bit of a GTR noob question...had my car for just over a week now and this morning I jump in it to bring it to work and start it up, push the clutch pedal in and there is a whirring, very slight grinding sort of noise coming from under the car, not a horrible, metal on metal sort of noise, but just a rubbing sort of noise. I then reverse the car out of the garage and all seems fine with the clutch bite etc, but the noise is there everytime i push the pedal down and then when I release the pedal it stops, but not instantly, it just gets quieter then stops. Anyway, after about 5-6 depressions I backed it out the driveway and the noise was gone and had stopped, didn't do it again, so I have no idea??? I thought I saw a thread in here yesterday about a similar thing, but can't for the life of me find it! Drove it to work fine, no issues, no noises, drove it last night and all was fine aswell.....don't know why it would just happen.....any ideas? I'll see if it does it again when I leave work this afternoon. Thanks Michael

Can you please let me know how you go with this mob, I've got S3 headlights in my S2 (not setup as xenon units, just normal headlights) and they have a yellowish tinge on the inside and the overall appearance is slightly milky and cloudy, they aren't as bad as some I've seen, but I'd like them crystal clear and schmick. I'd have a go myself, as I have done the oven thing with some civic headlights, but I don't want to risk ruining these as they would be damn hard to find and cost a fortune! Where are you located? Can you let me know the complete cost and turn-around time and if you are happy with the outcome?!? Thanks Michael
