  2. YEAR: 1984 MODEL: MR30 BODY: Sedan COLOUR: White Modifications: According to the Skyline Nationals last year, it's standard enough to be runner up original! What a joke!
  3. Everybody knows that it way too expensive to get decent power out of an 'L' series anyway!
  4. If I'm thinking along the right lines, one is a sign wave and the other a square wave, so they need some sort of electronic wizardry to talk to each other.
  5. I have an '84 MR30 on gas for sale in SA. It does need some mechanical work but overall is pretty good. The tank needs it's 10 year inspection. It's done 365k. It's a 4 speed auto with lockup on 3rd and 4th (Yeah I know it's very unusual) but that's the way I bought it for my son. We've spent over $2k on it and will sell for $1200 ono. It needs rego but will put on for a serious buyer. PM me if interested. Rob. BTW it's my sons, not my little baby!
  6. Hey Marc, here's the shot of yours coming into turn 1.
  7. Hi Blue, as you say each scrutineer has there own pet thing they look for. I look for perished/old fuel lines and stuffed brake pads and rotors. I think my only conern with your car was the slight scuffing of the seat belts as they pass around the seat frame (quite sharp), but I made a suggestion that you are aware of it and perhaps do something that makes the edge less sharp. If any scrutineer makes an unreasonable request, politely ask them to show you in the CAMS manual where it is required, as that is an item you may have inadvetantly missed.
  8. Some of my photos of the 2 days. Enjoy! http://cid-85e9a6d8c6fa4be0.photos.live.co...012%202010?uc=1
  9. Can I ask what you are referring to with this comment? I was one of the scrutineers and from my part, the majority of the cars presented was of a "very high quality" (quote from the chief scrutineer). "Any issues that were encountered were fixed with no fuss and no problems". Especially considering that a large number of them were first timers on the track and had little or no knowledge of the requirements.
  10. Do not get me wrong, I was stoked to get a trophy/recognition for the time, money and effort I had put into my car over the years. But standard? I was not aware of the trophies for the peoples choice etc. I believe that they could have said something like "I know theese people are not here but let us just quickly go thru the winners of the other classes" or similar. It left us all wondering about how such cars could be ignored. At least now after your explanation some of these questions have been cleared up, so thanks for that.
  11. I agree with you. No-one was more stunned that me when my car was named as runner up in standard class!!!!! The standout was indeed the Black C110 and should have taken people choice award.....oh that's right, there wasn't one of those either.
  12. The last thing I want is to come away from this with a label and from previous cruises I can see that happening. I tend to go along for a while but if they get out of hand I get out of the cruise!
  13. Yeah, I have to travel all of 3km to Glenelg. I'm not sure the heater will have started working by then.....
  14. Not sure why you want to go with Weber carbys (for the sound maybe) but if you go dedicated LPG, emissions are no longer relevant as they are not tested with an LPG setup. My car is proof you do not need to spend huge $'s to get performance. I will be at the Nationals on the 11th at Colley reserve. come and say hi and we can chat.
  15. I made up new mounts using 25mm (high) X 40mm (wide) tubing and mounted the runners directly to them. The drivers seat is now a bit too high so I will replace the back tubing with a bit of 10mm X 30mm bar to try to tilt it back. I'll try to get some photo's to upload but I'm not sure this is the forum for that. Let me know where I should post it. Rob.
  16. I believe I am being realistic as a couple of friends in the auto industry have actually said it should have been a higher asking price. The proof will come regardless one way or another when/if it gets sold. As an aside I have been offered over $12k for mine, but just do not want to part with it.
  17. Hi. It has done 348,000kms, but starts and runs very clean. It always starts on petrol and then goes to LPG. The body is pretty damn straight, and the paint is better than my own car! Rear lights are the same as series 1 but overall there are a number of small mechanical and electrical differences between the two series. This is definitely 4 speed with converter lockup, so it is a fairly late box. Interior is reasonable with the usual scratches and stuff, but the heater control panel looks like brand new. If I could, I would swap it with mine but mine has been modified too much. The seats are ok but could do with a bit of TLC if you were going to keep the car for a while. I actually just put some Autotechnica seats in mine from Repco. Got them on special at $300 for the pair! Rob.
  18. If you want a good reliable non-turbo R30 come to little old Adelaide for mine! Go to http://www.skylinesaustralia.com/forums/19...Ad-t308581.html
  19. Hi all, I have a standard 1983 Series 2 R30 white sedan for sale in Adelaide. It looks just like mine but belongs to my son who can not afford to run it due to no job. We have spent countless hours on it polishing, cleaning etc. It is quite clean and tidy with only one fairly minor rust spot next to the right hand rear tail light. Pictures are coming! Approx 337,000 kms (I have to check that) Std 2.4 ltr 'L' series 4 speed Auto New g/box mounts Dual fuel New VL injectors about 12 months ago Tow Bar New exhaust technology 2 1/2" system (P plate friendly noise) Brakes have been overhauled in the last 12 months 15" mags from an R32 non turbo so its 4 stud Front tyres have done 400km from new Faults: Needs oil pressure sender Tacho not working Air con fitted but not working Looking for $2500 ono Not currently registered (has just run out) but can do so for a firm buyer Contact Rob on 0413576515 (thats me)
  20. Hi there. I will make another one for the night. Rob.
  21. I run an L24 block with L26 rod and crank, 180B pistons, A87 head and get 196rwkw with 563Nm of torque at 5700rpm. This is done on dedicated LPG and no computer, so to say they are not good is sorta wrong!
  22. The '88 Z32 (I think) 300Z LSD will bolt right in, but it may have different flange spacing, so you may have to get a tailshaft builder to make a new one. That's what i had to do. Went with a 70mm from Adelaide tailshafts.
  23. Hi there, I'm looking for the rear section of tailshaft from the centre bearing back to the diff. It needs to suit an R200 diff. Ta, Rob
