Reading up a bit more on the bearings, i'm assuming that they're 'big bearings' and if possible to be replaced, i can probably use the ACL ones listed in this page?: http://www.aclperformance.com.au/NissanRB20DETBearings.htm What is involved in changing the bearings? Does the engine need to come out?

Doesn't sound good at all =( Does this mean that I should stop driving it? Or because it's on death row, I should start looking for a new engine and keep on rollin' till it stops? I'm just not a big fan of the idea of my car stopping in the middle of somewhere. Usually I drive around because I need to get from A-B and not because i'm cruising around for the hell of it.

i know this might be a stupid question, but are they genuine? just want to make sure before seriously considering it.

I've got this rattle in my engine and my mechanic says I've 'spun a bearing'. It still drives fine and all, but he also mentioned that I shouldn't push it too hard due to this problem. Can anyone enlighten me further on what could have happened? Thanks in advance!

I'm thinking of pulling off my current factory type-m spoiler and putting a bootlid lip on. Does anyone know where I can get one? Preferably Melbourne.

i got knocked back on my rwc for steering rack and gearbox leaks.

When it's on the road, i really enjoy driving it. The only thing I REALLY want is for it to just be a reliable daily driver. Not really a hard ask...or is it...from an 18yo car... Other bits and pieces would be stuff like better stereo as mine is absolutely shocking and maybe nicer wheels - but not essential. Also thicker sway/roll bars.

it's running stoich at low load and off boost and a tad rich on boost. not sure of the exact afr's tho. would it be worth paying for the motor to be stripped down to find out what's wrong before going further?

well, everything was given the twice over and it came back to the engine itself. the fuel pump, injectors and tune were apparantely retested and still running a stoich mixture but the engine is just losing compression somewhere. there is also a worrying rattle inside the engine somewhere which sounds like a loose bearing.

i'll look into swapping to another rb20. i've already got all the supporting systems for it and it'll probably be an easier swap without having to worry as much about wiring etc. are compression and leakdown tests able to be conducted on an engine not in a car?

The other day when coming out of my work carpark, my car (r32, rb20det) lost all compression and moved like a slug. I dropped it off at my mechanic who has just informed me that it has extremely low compression and a rattling noise in the engine. This means that it isn't combusting fuel properly and well...just not going. I think that I have two options now: 1. Strip down the engine and find out what's going on 2. Replace the engine Would anyone have any suggestions in what could have happened? Or any other options I might have? Thanks.

If anyone is after carby cleaner, Repco has it on special now. I paid $3.80 for a huge can of it.

Just wondering how easy or difficult it is to change the suspension from stock to coilovers at home. Is it safe? Would I need any special tools? Obviously I'll need a realignment afterwards.

i'm after a stock r32 gts-t steering wheel + gear knob i'd prefer something in excellent condition as i will be using it as a daily thing and mine are shot. also prefer melb, but anywhere is ok really.
