  1. Pics of BOV & pipe, engine and turbo and power steering pump. Power steering pump - $150 ono
  2. Sieng - shipping to Melbourne would be expensive I imagine. If you're serious I'm sure we can work something out. PM me.
  3. I'm just hard to convince.. Nope. I'm applying the same argument back to our own cars. I have nothing against modified imports or 4wd's. Imports CAN be bad because they can be used incorrectly. 4wd's CAN be bad if used incorrectly too. Too big - a matter of opinion. You're used to a 2 door whale (as I am ) so any 4wd is going to seem quite big. It ain't too big when you've got 7 people to carry around. Poor Visibility - again, a matter of opinion. Dangerous impact zones - anything moving at speed is dangerous. 4wds need to be treated with respect and driven correctly, as with any vehicle. I know - buses fit exactly into the criteria you mentioned above. They're big, heavy and have poor visibility.. should we ban them? No way. You'd be dangerously close to the speed rating of the tyres and also, what about that retired couple putting along in their 4wd with a caravan coming the other way? You're definitely driving in a selfish manner and could possibly hit them if anything went wrong. There never is a safe place on a public road to do stupid speeds like that. That's part of the excitement for many. But doing it in a Rav4? Cmon..
  4. Really? Can't think of anywhere in the world it's safe, smart or legal to do that sort of speed in a Rav 4.. Now now danny - don't start taking this personally and throw a tantrum.. The only serious reasons I can see that you guys have put forward are: 1. Visibility - Can happen with any car in any situations. Granted 4wd's can be harder to see out of or see past, but they aren't impossible. Just as bad as a commercial van or an import with dark tint. Stop being impatient - if you can't see past it, wait until it has pulled away. 2. Crash damage - true, a heavier car will possibly cause more damage in an impact, but this depends highly upon the impact angle, speed and a heap of other factors. Does this mean that any car over 1.5T should be banned from the road? Hardly. 3. Likelyhood of an accident - take a look at crash stats. The main group to die in auto accidents are males under 25 driving cars too fast or powerful for their experience. Why do insurance companies charge like they do? 4. All 4wd owners are sh*t drivers because they've annoyed me a few times - somehow this is a sweeping generalisation that can be applied to any type of car you like. Weak. 5. The Environment - I love this one. Somehow a larger engine with all the major pollution gear, revving at lower speeds kills the environment quicker than a high revving forced induction "track" car? Do the math on gas output alone - I don't think so... Dan - I'm not getting into a name-calling contest, I'm merely applying your own arguments to the import scene. I drive one and love it. I'll probably get one for my next car and possibly the car after that. I just don't try to kid myself that I'm any better or have any more right to be on the road than anyone else... Cmon guys - you can do better than this....
  5. HehehahahahHAHAHAHEHEHEHE!! whew... that's a good one.. Import cars are just as dangerous and do cause problems if used incorrectly - why do you think there was such a media stir in the past over them? A few people ruin it for others.. If not used correctly, they can cause some major harm as can a 4wd. You guys have got your head in the sand.. 4wd's are only dangerous if they crash or if the person can't drive.. same as any vehicle.. if used correctly, they're fine.. REdgtst - a clean 4wd means the person doesn't use it offroad? Nice one.. we usually keep them clean on our minesites, but we also do some of the most arduous 4wding you'll hear of.. Kieth - I jolly well don't. You guys are seriously flawed applying arguments to others that somehow don't apply to yourselves or the group of cars you belong to.. Josh - the vision issue can be a problem for any car in any situation. It might happen more with 4wd's, but I hardly see it as a reason to ban them.. Dan - in a charade, isn't ANYTHING going to cause you vision issues? *cast*
  6. Prices too high? Make an offer if you like.. $1500 for inlet, complete head, bottom end, water pump, oil pump, exhaust manifold, turbo and all the connections isn't too bad is it?
  7. Exactly the point I was trying to make Duncan. What a laugh - these two obviously have small penis syndrome and can't handle that someone might have a bigger car than them.. "It's ok for me to have my uber wicked super loud drift fast track car on the road cause I can't afford not to - but those 4wd's - wow, a few have cut me off in the last few months - they should all be banned!"
  8. dammit. was going to head out there.. looks like 91 RON mobil fuel for me.. if you're going to go bad - may as well go cheap too!
  9. If it met ADR then yep, it sure would. As far as the law was concerned anyway. How do you know that? What if someone bought one because they liked it and thought it matched the type of car/4wd they wanted? I'm sure they don't wilfully buy them to kill others in accidents. As for selfish behaviour, anyone in a performance car is guilty of that every now and then - the right foot is easy to push down. Dark tint and high speed accidents associated with this genre of cars seems to state otherwise. Got any hard facts to back this one up? Only if parked correctly. So will most 4wd's with the exception of a Hummer or an F series - now there's a crazy car for the burbs! Again, it is a matter of choice. I'm not saying they're not more dangerous in an accident, but I think you'll find that there's a reason we pay stupid insurance premiums and most 4wd owners don't. Agreed. But if that's what people want, why should a few crap drivers take it away from all the others? If that were the case, two door sports cars would've been banned for anyone under 35 years ago... Again - it's not the 4wd's fault, it's the baby boomer behind the wheel. They should be the one's banned.. We should be starting a thread of bad Perth drivers...
  10. mix ratio rev?
  11. Nothing wrong with individuality at all. Never said there was. Though from listening to some of the comments here, people should either drive an import because they're cool like us, or drive an excel. Tanks, Steve Irwin? cmon man.. that's way lame. Lowered vs raised - deviation from standard build, not from a standard height. You can't be serious?
  12. I never said anything about being rich.. what if I wanted to go 4wd'ing every now and then but couldn't afford a 2nd car? Why can't I have one but you're allowed to have your track car? Most 4wd's on the market actually take up the same footprint as a van/people-mover. They're just taller. As for your other comments about me being happy for people to drive like idiots - i think you're a little misguided there. At no time did I say I advocated bad driving, all I've said is that the car doesn't make the driver. A sh*t driver is still a hazzard in a small or large car. There's lots of people who have fast cars who don't use them on the track. Does that mean they can't have them? I never said anything about them being safe. Though you can't honestly say the jap import tin cans that we drive around in are safe either. I'm under no illusions that my lightweight skyline (r33 ) will provide me with much protection during a crash. Anything moving at speed is dangerous. 4wds, the same as with high powered cars, need to be driven in a certain manner to make them safe to use. How many in-experienced drivers crash either one? Lots... You guys are making some pretty heavy assumptions on why people buy 4wds. Where are you getting the info from? How do you know which one is a city cowboy and which one isn't? Because it's clean? Or because of the way it's driven? I'm sure there are plenty that go offroad that are still sh*t drivers on the street. Here's another thought - wouldn't you like your family safe inside a 2T cocoon because there's the chance some speeding import driver is going to smash into them? I'm not saying this is my view, but you'd be stupid to think it's not the view of the baby boomers.
  13. But this is where your argument falls down. Your car has the POTENTIAL to make heaps of noise and exceed the speed limit. (as do all of ours ) Why do you need to use a "track" car on the road? I never said anything about circumnavigating the law. I did however say that people should be left alone to do what they want. Obviously within the law. So how many times will your "track" car actually see the track? Isn't this the same philosophy as people who buy a 4wd for 'occasional' 4wd'ing? You don't have any "need" for anything aside from some food, shelter and clothing - so why buy anything else? Flawed argument. By giving these people different cars I hardly see how it's going to help them park any straighter.
  14. Sandy - now you're just being stupid. Who wants a mack truck? I wouldn't be able to park it in my garage. Crash damage - you're right, they weigh more so would do more damage, but then you could apply this to anything bigger than a smart car. Josh - I think the problem on the road are caused by the idiots behind the wheel. It wouldn't matter if they were in something smaller - they'd still pull out on you, drive up your butt and generally drive like idiots. Don't hate the 4wd - hate the idiot baby boomer behind the wheel. Suspension - How many skylines/silvias/180s do you see "dumped". How many of these would be well setup? I know of many cars around that have just had a set of coil-overs wacked in and haven't been setup properly - most using coil-overs that are more suited to drift. Why do you think alot of people have crap 60' times at the plex? Super hard suspension means more load on the tyres and street tyres aren't slicks..
  15. To add to the above - I'm sure most will agree with me when I say that we modify and drive the cars we do because we can - not because we can justify them. Why not let others do things because they can?
  16. Kieth - nope. Not steroetyping. Just stating the same argument you are using, but applying it back at the import scene. How can either of you guys argue "I can't see a need for it and I don't like it so nobody should have it.." It's exactly the same argument anyone against the import scene is using. You're following them into small minded-nessville. I state again - live and let live. It's not just the 4wd people who are f*ked up drivers. It's most of the Perth population. And as for comparing them to asian countries - anything is going to look good compared to those idiots. Ever driven in the UK or Europe? You'd reconsider your opinions on Perth drivers being 'couteous'.. Dan - justify why any of us need any more than 20rwhp or a car that can exceed 110km/hr. You can't no matter how you try. How is a people mover less bulky and how does it have better visibility than a 4wd? As for it being a waste of money, possibly, but so is that BOV that lots of imports seem to have. I'm sure the people with 4wd's work hard enough to be able to spend their money how they like. I think the thing that really disapoints me about this thread is that it's at the core of what makes Perth f*ked. If people left each other alone to do what they wanted, had more consideration towards others and stopped letting others bother them we'd probably have a much happier society. I'm sure if a more open attitude could be stretched to road use, then people would stop driving like idiots....
  17. HEHEHEHAHAHAHAHA......... *whew* laughed so hard I nearly shat.... More of it I say!
  18. Reading this thread makes me sad. Ignorance and the lack of tolerance of the choices of others is what makes Perth a crappy place. Live and let live. You're saying that just because people don't take their 4WD offroad then they shouldn't have one because you don't like. Well, how about you justify the noisy cannon muffler, dark tint and lowered, hard suspension - which by the way ruins your handling and braking distances. I agree with what was said earlier in this thread - people in Perth need to learn two things on the road: 1. How to drive - and this includes the majority of drivers, regardless of age or type of car.. 2. Empathy and Courtesy - everwhere else I've driven, most people dive with both of these. Just use the freeway in the morning and you can see it's every person for themselves..

  20. get over it and move on... Those who do illegal mods know we're all fair game. It's been like that for ages because guess what - it's ILLEGAL. If you think the cop was an a-hole and you were unfairly treated, then take his badge number and put a complaint in. From the sounds of it though you were in the wrong. If more people actually got off their ass and did something about things they're not happy with rather than just sitting around bitching about it, Perth would be a better place.. TT syndrome on SAUWA.. b*tching for the sake of it.. What happened to this being an informative automotive forum? I can't remember the last post I saw about something technical in here. Now it's all BOV's, tint and yellows.. shame.. /rant

  22. Hi all.. As the title says, I'm in Perth. Price is $16,000 for the lot (negotiable) and you can contact me at [email protected] or 040 894 6482. This is a good condition R33 with a Neo conversion and a decent stereo. Details of the car are as follows: 1995 R33 GTST Skyline White Tommy Kiara Front Bar Works Rims Drift wing Front mount intercooler K&N Pod Full exhaust with Dump and Highflow Cat HKS EVC IV boost controller with dual boost settings Apexi AFC (fuel controller) Apexi ITC (ignition controller) Mines ECU Pivot turbo timer Alpine CD Tuner Neo MP3 Player with 40Gb HDD (from ssi america) 2 x 12" Orion Subs MTX Black Gold splits Alpine amp - for the splits Crossfire amp - for the subs I also have a Walbro pump that I never got around to putting in - can throw that in the deal..
  23. I put one into an R33, using an R33 loom and ecu. The changes I needed to make were as follows: 1. CAS wiring is backwards - a simple cut and solder will work here; 2. Use an R33 throttle body to save on changing wiring there; 3. Change the plugs on the VVT and idle control valves to suit. It'll work fine this way and you could use a R33 loom and PFC, you just wouldn't have the "infinitely" variable VVT, but the on/off system that the R33 has. Definitely a worthwhile conversion over using an R33 RB25DET as the power delivery seems so much better - well to me anyway.
  24. Could be worth putting a complaint in to the ombudsman? Good police force/laws we've got here. You've got a damaged car and some evidence but they won't chase it up because it's too hard, yet they want laws so that anyone can report 'hoon' behaviour? Unbelievable. No wonder there is a low respect for authority amongst the public.
  25. Had the same thing happen to me on a bike on West Coast Drive during peak hour. Looked up while I was lying on the ground to see some lady hunched over her steering wheel, trying to drive around me. Nearly bloody ran me over. It was like I was just some pothole or something in the road to be avoided. Perth people do suck at helping others in trouble - just seems to be a mindset here... Hope you get the f*ker.. I'll be looking out..
