  1. Ok cool thanks Hmm interesting, ill have a look at that tomorrow.. Basically the noise just started and eventually got louder and louder and now sounds like a cortina's diff on its last legs haha.. My 4wd torque guage is acting normally not anywhere near 100% on or anything like that but definatley worth a look
  2. Thanks for the reply bud, Thats good news that the clutch plates fit, what about bearings etc as like i said there is some sort of a bearing or whirring noise as speed gets faster and only in 4wd mode Thanks again [Edit] - Cool just saw your edit about the bearings - Ill try get a price on new bearings etc Thanks
  3. Hi Guys, I should probably have asked this before i bought the autobox & transfer case but i was told by a good source that all 4wd transfer case's were the same. Basically i have an 89 r32 gtr where my transfer case is making a bearing/grinding noise in 4wd mode only. Rwd is fine, 4wd still actually works like normal its just really noisy. So basically using the info i was told i bought a stagea auto transfer case (gbox came with it) and my mechanic says they are different. Im not sure in what way, my question is, is it possible to use the auto transfer in my car or am i screwed? Thanks dudes Alem
  4. Hey guys, Just an update, have checked all levels of fluids and they are all full, have bled the ETS system as per service manual and no go, still whines in 4wd, but perfect silent in rwd mode.. SO im guessing it is a mechanical fault in the transfer case, like a bearing or something?
  5. Thanks mate, Yeah ive never heard of it either - I will do as suggested cheers! ps. Mine is an 89 but im not sure if it has a newer or older box/case? Probably normal 89 one...
  6. Hey guys, Thanks for the replies, Ive been driving it on/off last couple of weeks (been avoiding due to the loud whine and grind of gears) and last night was the first time i flicked it to rwd mode since the diff started making this noise - absolute silence. How can that be? 4wd mode - whine noise and gear grind when you take foot of throttle rwd mode - instantly silent and smooth as back to 4wd - whine noise and gear grind back to rwd - silent and smooth So does this mean its not the diff after all or is there something else when 4wd is activated that is broken? CHeers
  7. Interesting, My R also suffers from really bad corner entry understeer, will try the above things also. Dont mean to hijack the thread sorry
  8. Hey michael can you please find out what you can get for a r32 gtr rear diff and approx costing? Cheers
  9. Hey twitchy, any update on your problem?
  10. ill most likely be in also.. can you find out what you can get for r32 GTR rear and cost? Cheers dude
  11. seems very very similar to my problem, im heading towards afms for both cases in my opinion
  12. is that from nissan or 2nd hand?
  13. Cheers for the reply Yep both diffs were being used with castrol vmx80 which i read on here was fine to use and the correct amount inside. Tailshaft seems straight but im not sure if its balanced, there is no vibration through the car while driving however The 2nd diff was also an OEM diff from a SAU member, it was just straight from a wrecking GTR so it could just be co-incedental that it failed the same way. This time i will get it rebuild (i have 2 to chose from!) however need to ensure this wont happen again Cheers
  14. Hey guys, Have a 32 GTR with the stock mechanical R200 diff, in March last year the pinion bearing wore out and allowed the crown & pinion to grind gears etc Replaced it with a 2nd hand diff and gradually a bearing noise got louder and louder and yesterday this diff is doing the exact same thing. Could just be age from using another 15 year old diff, but i seem to be the only one in australia who has killed 2 gtr diffs? Anyways my question to peeps is could it just be age/coincidence or could there be another factor in the 2 diffs having the same fault. eg pinion angle etc? the car has 400rwhp, is lowered slightly and has 18/255/50 wheels if that helps Thanks in advance for any advice
  15. From my knowledge its never had a SAFC, it came with the stock ecu which has been rom'd in japan, which i changed for a pfc. About 3 months later its been doing this and i have put in the ecu it came with and ill have a look at the error report tomorrow night with a mates consult port thingy, see if that sheds any light. I will also try what you suggested, ill put the pfc back in and monitor the sensors etc especially when it cuts - cheers
  16. chucked stock ecu (rom'd) in yesterday and it still stalled pulling up to a set of lights so rule out ecu :|
  17. now that i re-read that, sounds like fuel pump?
  18. Hey guys wondering if any one has some advice for me on a problem i have been having.. Running rb26 with n1 turbos, power fc While driving sometimes i lose throttle, the motor sounds like it is still running (revs stay where they were), however when i apply gas, instead of going forward, it feels like it pulls BACK instead, keep trying and it does the same thing, so i pull over and it stalls straight away. Try starting it and it just cranks and cranks. If i turn it completley off for 5 seconds and restart it starts fine and i drive away again. Its intermittent and can happen anytime, maybe once every 5 drives? The other day i went over a speed hump and it stalled (started ok through) which would indicate loose plug/wireing which i have checked and all look fine in the engine bay. Also sometimes while driving there is a flat spot occasionally, not sure if its tune related but its happening more often latley.. I have taken out the AFM's and cleaned them with the electronic contact cleaner spray stuff and checked all plugs where in and sprayed them too. With key turned to ON (not started) i get on the power fc sensor check screen: AFM-1 0.25v AFM-2 0.15v 02-1 0.04 02-2 0.06v With car started and idling AFM-1 1.20v AFM-2 1.23v 02-1 0.04v 02-2 1.26v Obviously i have a dead o2 sensor but that wouldnt be causing this would it? its always been dead (was told when pfc was installed) and these issues have only shown up recently. AFM voltages seem ok? Have changed plugs, checked electric plugs are plugged in properly etc, any other ideas? Have not swapped afms yet as i dont really know anyone with a gtr that would, and the problem is intermittent so id have to borrow them for a while grrr cheers guys
  19. About 6.5k/7k i have found to be perfect with 255 tyres and twin plate.. below kinda bogs.. hows the pull of a 4wd launch
  20. east perth was a no no for me :|
  21. they failed my triple plate however i know of many with twins that pass so you should be ok. I have a twin now.
  22. good luck with the sale dude looks great. Rebuilt motor and turbos and immaculate body - very fair price in my opinion.
