Exactly the info I was after. Much appreciated. There's no 5th mat, but given the price range I'll be happy to sell them at the lower end. Cheers.

Appreciate the honest reply. Sun is an issue, I'm a day walker (pale) so do not like high UV. We used to hike a bit, me breaking my leg a year ago and us having a baby has slowed us down so any look outs will be accessed by car I think my partner has done the east coast once before, without me, and is keen on seeing the west coast. How do they compare? Oh sidebar: I was born and raised her in Wodonga but did a 3mth contract stint in Melbourne (my choice well above Sydney) but would not consider moving to either city to raise a child - no offense to those who make it work, it's just not for us. Having 6 car spaces, plenty of storage and enough room for the dog and child is easily worth a few bucks less in my pay, especially given how cheap it is to live here comparatively.

It's been on my list for a while so I'm thinking about organising a trip down south later this year. We have a 9mth old (she'll be 1+ by the time we get down there) so the trip will not be a Targa assault on the awesome driving roads, but more of a family trip. What's some of the must sees if we had say 1-2 weeks up our sleeve? When is the best time of year to go weather wise? I like the cold but my daughter has to be considered too. Anything I should know that's not obvious? Bonus questions for those who live there. What's it like for the most part and where are you (generally not your address). How is it trying to buy cars/get packages sent/buy shit online etc. Best and worst things? As for context, I'm 31, work in IT, into cars naturally, live in North East Vic (it'll be in the 40s again here this week). Tas has always been one of those places I had on my list of potentials to move to even though having never visited - good tourism marketing...

Cheers. I'll get there, it'll just take time. I've started light core work, planking etc and so far it's not making it worse. Stretching is a big thing, if I go a few days without a decent stretch it gets much worse. Good reminder to hold my core in place when i stand up to walk around also, if I do, I can get up without pain, if I forget or release too soon, it goes twang. All self inflicted so no pity for myself.

Admittedly I was grumpy yesterday and today I've had some sleep I don't think he was really, his next post kind of shows that. I could almost say with certainty that we'd hear about this again too if this had not been discussed. Now that it's been said though he probs won't mention it again. "yeah that guy lifted more, but he weighs 90kg+ and I'm only 83" i.e. I'm still awesome. "Yeah that guy lifted more, but he has even proportions, my legs are too long so I'm deading at a deficit" i.e. I'm still awesome. Birds cares, lol, oh he definitely cares - and there's nothing "wrong" with that as it provides motivation. As an aside, I've always been congratulatory of his acheivements, bloody sensational in my view for the weight and skill level. Boz can attest to what I think about our achievements in here as "normal" gym goers as we've discussed it via PM before. Bingo. This is more the thing I was getting at. I see ego as something that is highly misplaced by the general populace, lifters or not. As you said, there's always somebody doing everything single thing you can do better than you will ever do regardless of whether it's how much you lift or how you look - I mean you in the general sense not you "Bird" specific. Stupid thing, I stopped caring that Markos girls were out lifting me, changed up my routine to make it enjoyable for me again and stupidly have had more comments now about arms or chest etc (it's singlet weather) than I did before while lifting less (less in max weight, probably more in volume which is why I have no issue with Birds euro training volume method as it works well for novices) That said, I could care less, because the most important thing is I'm enjoying myself again. There's no point in me having an ego about anything anymore when I know that there's a million people achieving more. Why did you delete this post? I thought it was pretty accurate, albeit a little sharp Yep, that's the spirit. Oh and also, didn't know you were taken, belated congrats Anyway, was a small comment, not clearly articulated, and said with the grumps on. Ultimately we'll all keep doing whatever we want Get off my lawn.

Not intentionally? That said, I'm running on little sleep (Daughter is teething joy) and my back is sore. I'm going home.
-
My point was left about the lifts and what "spot" you have and more about the comparisons to other guys. Like you said, there will always be a 10yr old at PTC DL'ing 400kg (I laughed at that). So "spots" in your gym really mean jack, unless it's just a way for Leigh to pick up dudes?
-
I thought we were on the same page, maybe I'm reading a different book.
-
If you genuinely hold any of the top spots at your gym, it's probably a shit gym =\ No offense at all, as I think you've done great, as have many here, but I'd hazard a guess and say that most of us are average, maybe towards the upper end of average lifters (not me, but some of you) at best. Unless we have some solid comp winners here I don't know about. In my gym, I'm the top lifter.
-
Do you both often check out other guys at the gym?
-
I had a lower back Xray, when chasing this back problem (which was a prolapsed disc) but the Chiro said it all looked good to her. lol parliament it is
-
Kate said my right hand sits lower than the left when standing, but that's the "low" shoulder. Will have to measure. Though I don't see how arm length affects how high the shoulder sits? Or are you talking about discrepancies in length of bar travel in a movement, which makes sense but was not my original question.
-
Well I'm neither so I guess we can be mates.
-
I literally would have shit myself. Literally.
-
Body boarding requires being in the ocean, sharks live there. No.
-
Fruit booter LOL haven't heard that in years. f**king skegs. No idea about arm length, never measured.
-
Can't remember what theyhad standard but remember upgrading to ABEC somethings and feeling like I'd just hit NOS.
-
These. Same colour too, but upgraded the bearings for t3h speedz, stopped removed for the coolz
-
Rollerblading was the bomb, a lot faster than skateboarding. I think I still have an old pair floating around in a box somewhere.
-
I'll mention it to mine when I'm there next. I "think" I badly strained that shoulder many years ago in a high speed roller blading accident, yes I know.... lol I don't have even ROM on bench. I will be sure my grip is even on the bar but I run out of arm travel on the right (lower shoulder) side before the left.
-
I'm not sure how to feel about that.
-
Scared you all off it seems with my back talk lol Random quesiton. If when I'm looking in the mirror and I'm relaxed and one shoulder sits higher than the other, what does that imply about muscle imbalances?

Sorry to spam two threads, Pasting this here from the infirmary thread so it gets visibility as I'm interested to hear from anyone who's had it or nows of someone with the same problem and if they did or did not go surgery and how they're going now. Got my MRI back, looks like I've got a protrusion on the disc, is that called a herniated disc or is that something different? Physio said we can work on "managing" it through core strength and wants me to get stuck in straight away while I decide if I want to go that route longer term or opt for surgery. He said there are some good conservative surgeons he knows in Melbourne who will do a microdisectomy (I think that's what it was called) and cut that 5mm protrusion off and sew me back up. He said I'm the perfect candidate for it and should see immediate relief as the rest of my back is in good health. He also said he rarely recommends surgery and only suggests it if he thinks it will have a extremely positive outcome. That said he's happy for me to work on managing it for the moment. I'm assuming I did this that time I was squatting and something went pop and I was in bad pain, but I got over that eventually with rest and stretching. I realise it's not the disc that causes the pain, but the impingement on the nerve. I've read a bit that said stop all exercise other than walking and it will heal slowly, but he said protrusions do not heal and that the upper body work I'm doing at the moment, flat and incline, chins and dips, will have no impact on it. I think I have the prolapse in this image. Thoughts? EDIT: Interesting info in this paper - http://www.ncbi.nlm.nih.gov/pmc/articles/PMC2915533 Surgical patience showing quicker relief from pain etc in the early stages but that longer term it levels out. I'll get a referral and see the Neurologist, but I'm leaning towards conservative management rather than having something cut into my back. I'm also still tossing up whether to get this plate removed.
-
That's correct on both accounts My query is more for anyone who's been there and whether they managed to work around/through it/fix it etc or if surgery was really the best option.

If anyone has a better video that would be good, seemed weird to me.
