Everyone has bailed on me so I'm flying solo. Save me a garage spot Richo. What time are you guys arriving?
-
Save me a garage guys, my mates coming are all non drivers on the day so if I can park it next to some SAU folk I'll be in a happy place. I just took a look at the weather again before confirming my entry, 25 degrees, oh yeah

Does anyone have a spare camera mount they are game enough to let me borrow, I'm happy to strap my point and shooter to the side of my car, just need a mount. If need be I can race tape it

Should have clarified. Remap from a tuner for those mods. In the UK they do it need for speed style stage 1 = these mods, stage 2 = some other mods, stage 3 = the mods I have (with the exception of my slightly larger injectors). The UK has a much larger CA user base and as the CA ECU is so easy to socket and swap EPROMS in there are Remap chips available very cheaply everywhere. You're right, I can get a Nistune for that money, which I simply can't justify on a hobby. Dr Drifts Remaps are $350 also. This one, from a tuner who is tried and proven on a number of CA forums in the UK, was $35 delivered. If you're like me that'd make you very skeptical but after doing a few months of research into others who use them, speaking with the tuner himself, and getting plenty of referrals on CA forums SXOC and Driftworks are two notable examples, I was willing to take the risk. Backyard cheapo modding at its very best. AFRs are good according to my wideband and the car drives very well on and off boost. I wouldn't call it doughy at all, not sure where you get the 10% richer figure from (The RX7 injectors are only 4-5% larger than the GT-R ones that the Remap is tuned for). Do you mean being in the 11s at the transition point? I fiddled with that a little in the SAFC (still wired in but values zero'd as it allows me to watch knock and monitor peak revs etc) and it made no bum dyno difference. I agree with you completely that a full tune by a good tuner with a Nistune would be superior, but I'm willing to sacrifice 10kw and maybe some response for $600+ saving which would get me 3 more track days or another set of tyres.

An update to this. Fixed boost controller leak, now running 17psi and in 3rd and 4th I have that by 4k rpm, a few more revs needed in second (I have a plumb back bov though so once it's on it stays on well between changes - this is a track car). Installed RX7 460cc injectors (These are from an 88-89 FC Non turbo and ease of fitmet depends on what seals were provided, but otherwise go straight in. Cheaper than GT-R units by a good margin and were cleaned and had new seals/pintles and are 20% larger than stockers instead of only 16% like the GT-R units. Guy on ebay seals them from the US. Installed Z32 AFM. Bought a remap from the UK (for GT-R injectors, Z32 and GT2560 on 17psi) as CA tuning is much bigger over there and prices are hell cheap. Found my ECU had already been socketed so chip swap was 2 second job. Slightly larger injectors also gives me more head room and results in a richer tune which I like. (Base timing adjustment required also - timing light used). Wideband shows AFR's on full boost at WOT do not go above 12, coming onto boost it's in the low to mid 11s just at transition. Car feels largely the same up to about 100km/h but pulls harder and for longer than it did from 100-160+ now, it's happy enough holding that boost til 7krpm too and I'm not game to rev a stocker any further and will likely only do that on hot laps. At least now if I clutch kick it in second at 70-80km/h it'll spin and keep spinning. Off to Winton on Monday to see if the lap time can be improved at all.

Good good, that clip freaks me out because that corner is where my car is often most unbalanced/on the edge lol
-
Fixed boost controller, just need to do an oil change and we're good to go. Noticed the brakes felt a bit different so hopefully the fluid lasts the day as it feels a bit tired, could just be new pads still bedding though. See you there John, and no repeats of that YouTube clip...
-
Roy? Argh! I'm 50/50 at the moment as we have a trip coming up so money is not plentiful. That said, I just finished putting in injectors, an AFM, a bigger turbo, and a remap... (and hopefully the boost leak is fixed as of last night so I can hold more than 15psi) so it would be good to see if it's any quicker, but I haven't even had it on the dyno yet so just relying on my wide band to tell me it's happy. So absolutely no chance you are going?

Well for those playing along at home, more carbs before workout + more water through the day has taken my sweat smell back to what it was so no more stinky Dan.

Please
-
Not really, as unlike you I shower daily and it gets washed off and needs to be reapplied. This explains your pit stains at DECA...

I've never shaved under my arms and I'm not about to start now. I have tried using some non gym shirts this week, it has made no difference. The smell is not in the shirt (as in left over), the smell is my sweat and is only prevalent after extended periods of sweating, that isn't going to change by wearing a different shirt. I also use Rexona 24hr Deoderant fyi. I am almost 100% sure it's dietary, unless I have some weird gland/hormone problem that has only just started as I have never in my life had my sweat smell like it does in recent times. In the last 6 weeks I have started taking supps again, some old WPI I had and now the Dymatize, but the issue pre-dates the Dymatize easily. So it's either too much protein, unlikely given I ran some numbers last night and it looks like I'm only just hitting what I should be getting without exercise anyway. The other change is as mentioned, moving from higher reps/lower weight 40min workout to higher weight lower reps more intense 60min sessions. I didn't realise you guys hated BB.com but the link basically states that if you don't have enough carbs for fuel during high output times, your body will use amino acids instead, leaving behind nitrogen = stronger smell in urine and sweat. Answer eat more carbs which I'll be trying. My interest was more so if anyone else had had this sort of notable change and managed to reduce it successfully with carbs/diet change, not shaving armpits, new shirts, different deoderant. Had a good lol at that youtube clip For the BB haters, another link with similar take on the topic. http://health.howstuffworks.com/skin-care/information/nutrition/ammonia-sweat-smell.htm
-
*facepalm* you guys are really missing the point. I did not nor have I ever had my sweat smell like it has in the last 6 weeks. I have always used the same few shirts, for years, and a simple wash is all that's been required to have them smelling fresh again. Now I can wash them on hot and they can still have a tinge of odour. I do not have any BO during the day, it is only when I sweat for extended periods and only in the last 6 weeks. Of course I used deoderant, I work in an office and I'm not a f**king animal None of you read the link huh... It also sounds like I might be alone on this one, at least on here.
-
lol not normally dude, and whilst it could be just age, my diet hasn't changed enough in any area to make me think it's something like that. Read the link and what I'm saying will make sense, found a heap of other people commenting about the same thing too. Anyway, as I said, can just smash up some more carbs and if it's what was mentioned in the link it should help, if not, maybe it's the supplement but after having a count of things I eat, it shouldn't be too much protein, if anything I should be eating more.
-
Nope, and my point of that comment was only to say that given the exercise I do I should be able to take on a fair bit more protein without any ill effects, such as smelling like an ogre when I exercise.
-
I've got an interesting one for you all this morning gents. I've noticed that for the last, say 6 weeks? I stink when I sweat. I've always had OK BO when I exercise, sure I get sweaty and you can smell that I've been exercising but not like it has been recently. At first I thought perhaps it was that I was back on a supplement and was getting too much protein. I had a quick look around the place and worked out that for a guy my weight 81kg, I should be getting roughly 67-70g protein a day, and I'd say on my "max" protein days where I've had a big hit of supplement and had meat for dinner/lunch that I might be reaching that, so in reality, as I exercise I should be able to safely have more without issue. Then I suspected maybe I am having too much fish oil (which I take daily for my joints) but I'm only having 1500mg and the RDI is safely around 3000mg. I changed my search from "omg I stink BO wtf" to "exercise sweat change in odour" (not exact wording but you get me) and ended up with this link. http://www.bodybuilding.com/fun/ammonia.htm What do you guys think about that? To me it makes sense as I am getting plenty of protein and amino's from my supps and diet but have gone from a 40min workout 3 times weekly to a more intense 60min workout 3 times weekly, so an extra hour per week plus increased intensity and weight loads, and here's the killer, I realised last night that I have not been eating anything more than usual beyond the supplement. That link explains that there's a good chance I am not getting enough Carbs so my body switches to burning amino acids, the process of which leaves behind nitrogen which makes its way to the kidneys and either gets out via urine or sweat, and admittedly I have not been drinking enough water with my new busier job. Anyone else come across the change in BO when exercising? Think the link is BS or right on the money? I know I can simply test by eating some carbs but I don't wanna end up with a surplus and get fat.

Had a couple of requests for pics so here they are in all their crappy iPhone camera glory. I also had a question about postage for the Media PC to QLD, AusPost estimates about $25 and I use my own packaging to keep costs down. I imagine the other machines will be similar costs. I should add that if I can' move this gear quickly, that means throw me offers if you don't like the prices, I'll put them up on eBay for SFA. Except maybe the HDDs, I have a hard time parting with cheap storage *** Media PC *** Forgot to add, this has an LCD on the front showing case temp, a GeForce MX400 video card, and a big fan in the back which can be disconnected for very quiet running, temps are fine without when running movies off the HDD. *** IBM/Lenovo **** *** HP DX2300 ***
